Scorfield Building & Landscaping Wetherby

I had a truly terrible experience dealing with this business when things went wrong. I thought I’d done my due diligence by reading their Facebook reviews regarding similar jobs, but that was a big mistake for me.
They quoted over £2000 + vat to lay two concrete flag bases for a shed & summerhouse but firstly didn’t dig deep enough, resulting in there not being enough hardcore sub-base, then they spot bedded the flags and left huge gaps underneath all the flags that you could get both hands under.
They told me that they spot bed all their customers bases that use flags/stones as part of their property improvements and it’s not a problem, even though every indication when checking with other businesses and online says that it is, especially in the long term.
They told me that the spot bedding was so secure that they would need a sledgehammer to lift the flags, but then said if I wanted a full mortar bed, they would have to re-use the existing flags, which made no sense if they needed lifting with the aid of a sledgehammer. I offered to pay 50% towards the cost of some new flags, but they wouldn’t entertain using new flags.
I complained further to Scorfields’ and I fully rejected the purchase and felt that I had to offer money to get them to remove their faulty work, which initially amounted to over £900. When they removed the flags and hardcore it revealed that the base wasn’t dug deep enough.
I then had to employ another company to dig down deeper and do the job properly using a full mortar bed.
Then I encountered a darker side to the business where I was informed that if I didn’t pay them some money for the rejection of their work, some unwanted soil would be brought to the house.
