They don’t even deserve 1 star, unfortunately there is no zero. I singed up for free trial and I cancelled my free trial within a few days but was still charged €10.99. I contacted customer support th... See more

BE CAREFUL WHEN SIGNING UP FOR A FREE TRIAL! I signed up for a 30 day trial and provided payment information as a part of the process. The sign-up process indicated that an email would be provided to you before the trial ends and before they start charging you (in theory you can then cancel), however such an email was never received (I checked my Spam and Trash folders to confirm this) and I was charged for at least one month; it is very easy to forget to cancel with them if you only wanted to try it out for 30 days and seldom visit the site or need their product/service.

Worse company.. wife’s been charged £109 for reading one book! She cancelled the free subscription yet still got charged.. they blocked her account after taking the money and the help system said they can’t do anything! Scandalous, scam and completely unacceptable!
Should be ashamed of themselves!

Diabolical, copyright theft on an industrial scale. They absolve themselves by blaming the copyright thieves that have uploaded to the Scribd site. They won't share the contact details of these thieves so copyright holders like me can't track them down. What's more is that subscribers are enabling both Scribd and uploaders by paying them. This site needs to be taken down permanently.

I don't even want to give them a star at all....I cancelled in July of 2024 and they continued to charge me a month. I got no response from Scribd but paypal and my bank are going to dispute the charges. DO NOT USE THEM! They are AWFUL!!!!
Security breach alert. This company charged me about $14 for a subscription that I do not recall getting. Had to cancel my card and get a new one. This is not cool. Saying nothing about the inconvenience. Would give 0 Stars if I could.

Im giving this company two stars, because im partially to blame for creating the issue, however they did absolutely nothing to assist me in resolving the issue. Firstly, I LOVE SCRIBE, and the Sister company Everand. LOVE the site, so much I signed up twice, with outlook and Gmail. Im in my 50s, I got very confused, then they took payments twice every month, that I wasn't aware of. Their email only customer service sucks when trying to resolve something like this. Then, they locked me out when I raised the issue. I think I had emails requesting more info, but they knew I'd been paying twice, because they told me, I'd signed up twice. I'd probably forgot my login information and inadvertently signed up with outlook.
If you know I'd signed up twice. You also knew you'd taken around 5 to 6 extra payments. Locking me out was not the manner in which to resolve this. Frustrated, I canceled all payments.
If you're considering using this companies products. Do not let me deter you. I love Everand too. I just had a bad experience due to a highly unusual issue.
The products are 5 stars ..
God forbit I try to download something peacefully. They not only make you sign up and then spam you with email, they also want your card for the 30 day free trial. Silly, horrendous work.
RIDICULOUS SCAMMERS AND FRAUDULENCE. The same or similar story as many others, avoid and do not even think to try even for free, always will try to charge you even after years!!!!
I used to have an account but cancelled it in 2022. The account is now inactive. In the past two months, however, I have been charged for monthly subscriptions despite the fact that my account is inactive. Initially, 2 weeks ago, customer service seemed helpful but there’s only an email address to communicate with. No phone. And now the communication from them has gone cold despite me contacting them. Still no sign of a refund and no idea how this happened that my account is suddenly being charged.

Fake service and service for stealing money

DO NOT USE THEM. THERE ISN'T A PHONE NUMBER TO CONTACT THEM AND ARE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTACT AND REFUSE TO CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION AND CONTINUE TO CHARGE MY BANK ACCOUNT. DO NOT EVER SUBSCRIBE TO THIS SHAM OF A COMPANY.
Found scribd when doing a google search for a subaru service manual. They said I could get if I signed up for a free trial. I did so and they only provided a few pages of the manual. They sent an email stating that my free trial would end soon so I went to their webite prior to the end date and followed the cancelation procedure. They have charged my paypal account $11.99. Paypal has asked me to supply information that I don't have access to so I can get a refund. Paypal slso provided a phone number for scribd that can't be completed as dialed. In my view scribd is a scam
THIS. IS. A. SCAM. I have been trying to cancel my account for so long and they KEEP CHARGING MY ACCOUNT EVEN THOUGH I DO NOT HAVE AN ACTIVE SUBSCRIPTION. This is RIDICULOUS. I have been getting charged for MONTHS.

I am writing a review again, because this people have the indecency to react to my comment and say that they are happy to look into it when I submit a ticket. But I submitted a lot of tickets and nothing happened, I am still locked out of my account and they are still taking my money! They just reacted to my review to make it look like they do something about it but they don’t do anything. They are just scammers, don’t go and buy something on their website because they lock you out so you can’t cancel your payment and than their isn’t any way to do something about it.
Since I wasn't able to access Scribd from my country (Italy), on Feb 26th during a stay in Dubai I succeed to access and paused my account, hoping to find sooner or later a solution (cause I don't want to pay for something that I cannot access). I received a confirmation of it on Feb 26th in Dubai.

Horrible website and coorporation. Everything they do is horrible, they try to scam with that credit card free trial bs by also having an upload limit daily. If you really want free documents, use archive.org, because this organisation is horrid. Moreover, their practices are slimy at best and I truly hope the worst for these guys.
TLDR: Use archive.org for free pdfs, these guys are bums and will try any way possible to get u to enter ur credit card details.
Firstly, I want to say that I truly miss the legacy Scribd when it wasn’t merged with Everand and when it was an unlimited service - customers were in love and happy too. Always the FIRST reading recommendation most of us would give bc it was set apart from even kindle or audible. Ever since the merger it’s been TERRIBLE. Everand has decided they most make more and more money so what do they do, they carbon copy audible/Kindle… to their demise. It’s so unfortunate what greed does to good things. Now, I had a legacy plan (realizing that NOW) and bc I loved the service so much, I thought I’d move up the tier to the unlocked service…. I’m SO angry I did this. They claim there is two catalogs but the unlimited catalog is TRASH. No categories, no variation - just bs books. If I cannot go back to my legacy plan - I am GONE. It’s so disheartening when CEOs grandstand and make decisions solely based on money rather than the VALUE that they bring to a marketplace. Now, the company is going to PLUNGE in sales bc all the legacy folks that loved Scribd and have had to for years HATE IT. Good luck. I give the company a good 2-5 years. Listen to your customers!
I cancelled a subscription three months ago and continued getting charged. After complaining, they reset my account and wiped out the 'evidence' that I had indeed cancelled my account, and claimed they could not see it on the back end. Very dishonest.
It's not legal. This site tricks you into doing a free trial then they don't give you any notice of the fact that your free trial is ending and they bill you. After that the site stops working. I tried with a VPN and I (thought) had successfully deleted both my subscription and my account. In the meantime I contacted the support and received a ticket (6066196), thinking this was going to be the end of it and that they were going to contact me. But I was wrong.
After a month (they first billed me on the 25/01), I received yet again a new billing for this subscription I thought I had cancelled. I have yet again contacted the support an received a new ticket such 6128971. I have now contacted the Paypal support because the Scribd support basically doesn't exist.
After the trial period ended, I cancelled my subscription and received a confirmation email. However, Scribd continues to charge me. I contacted Customer Support, and they replied that it might be fraud and that they would investigate. Today, Scribd is trying to charge me again. I will have to close my card. I do not recommend this service."
