I spent hours choosing the right…

I spent hours choosing the right furniture, visiting two separate SCS stores before making my decision.

The Bolton sofa in the showroom was extremely comfortable, but the furniture I received was nothing like the display model. It feels completely different, with cushions that don’t seem to have the same quality or level of support as those I tried in store.

Another issue is the fabric. It wrinkles almost immediately after sitting on it, whereas the showroom sofa didn’t do this at all.

I contacted Poltronesofà to raise my concerns, but they refused to acknowledge my rights under the Consumer Rights Act. Their response was simply that there were no manufacturing faults and that I had received exactly what I ordered. Under UK consumer law, goods should be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and match their description or any model or sample shown before purchase.

Overall, I am extremely disappointed with both the product and the customer service.

Before buying from this company, I would recommend checking out the “SCS Sofa and Furniture Complaints” Facebook page to read about other customers’ experiences.

Honestly

Honestly, one of the worst companies I’ve dealt with. I spent a lot of money on a sofa, but they delivered the wrong colour and material. At first, they denied it was their mistake, but after investigating, they admitted they were at fault and promised a replacement. They later refused, claiming the paperwork had been signed, even though we were never told the sofa would be different from what we ordered.

I’ve made several complaints and asked for either a replacement or a refund, but both have been refused. I bought my sofa from the Bolton branch, and the management was extremely poor. The manager was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to listen to our concerns or try to resolve the issue professionally. Instead of helping, we felt like our concerns were being brushed aside throughout the entire process. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this company.

Really disappointed with the product…

Really disappointed with the product and customer service in this place. We have received the wrong color very unhappy with the service, it is apparently our fault. How are we meant to know your code as a colour isn’t stated.
The sales lady put the wrong colour and now this won’t be rectified.

Such awful service they don’t care what they order as long as they get they are quids in. Very very angry at scs or poltrona sofas. They can stick there sorry right back up their backsides.

My living room doesn’t match! Unhappy with colour! Unhappy with the service. Steer right away from this store.

We waited 16 weeks for our suite to…

We waited 16 weeks for our suite to arrive. When it was delivered, everything looked fine and there were no issues at all. But after a week or two, we started to notice that the cushion on the recliner didn’t seem right. We thought it might just need time to settle, but it never did.

After having the suite for only four weeks, I contacted the company through their online form to let them know about the problem and asked for someone to come and have a look. Instead, I got an email saying they couldn’t find a fault with the suite. I’m not sure how they came to that conclusion when no one had even been out to inspect it.

What made it even more frustrating was that they said the problem was because the suite hadn’t been cared for properly according to their care guide. We’ve only had it for four weeks, so I honestly don’t know how they can say that.

This definitely isn’t over. If this is how they treat customers who’ve only just bought their furniture, it doesn’t say much about their customer service. I certainly won’t be buying from them again, and I’ll be making sure other people know about my experience too.

From walking into the store at…

From walking into the store at Middlebrook Bolton I was given a warm welcome by Mandy.
I explained what I didn't want and she guided me through the range and took me to see a selection of sofas. I wasn't rushed even though it was very close to 8pm.
I had made my choice but wanted to go back the day after with my husband.
After a few minutes Mandy appeared and offered coffee while hubby & me checked out the different swatches.
Everything eent like clockwork.

I have never in my life dealt with a…

I have never in my life dealt with a manager who was as rude and unprofessional as this one. I called a few days ago to discuss my concerns, and the way she spoke to me was completely unacceptable. She had a serious attitude problem and made me feel as though my concerns were an inconvenience.

As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with respect, but that was certainly not the case. The manager really needs to improve the way she speaks to customers because no one should be spoken to in that manner.

I also purchased a discounted showroom sofa and was told that my new sofa would be delivered and my old one taken away. It was only after the purchase that I found out there was an additional charge for removing my old sofa. This was never explained to me beforehand.

I’m also left unsure whether my discounted showroom sofa comes with a one-year warranty because I haven’t been given clear information. Overall, I’m extremely disappointed with the customer service and the way my concerns have been handled.

It was an experience

We purchased the sofas they are ok but not top quality. We decided to take the warranty at 350 pounds this is where it started to go wrong when we printed the full details we were charged £50 for a care pack that we were told was free so I asked to take it off as this can be purchased for max £25 but seeing that I already have this as my previous sofas were leather we did not need it. We were advised this could not be done so had to cancel the whole warranty (not happy about)as this cleaning kit had nothing to do with the warranty. Then getting the refund was a bigger nightmare took forever but we did eventually get refund. Would I buy from this company again 🤔 No based on quality and warranty experience.

The Insurance with Castelan is provided as a whole package which includes the care kit and unfortunately this is not something that can be sold separately.
I apologise if this was not fully explained when you took out the protection however I can see that this was cancelled down, and the refund raised, when requested.

Top delivery guys

Initial date for delivery supplied but allowance for early delivery noted. Appointment received for delivery. In total I received 5 messages about the delivery (a little overkill)
3 days before delivery it was cancelled due to delays. No further date supplied. A week later my wife is contacted and informed of a new date, but not me even though I am lead name.
I had to go back to the store to confirm what was happening. They confirmed the delivery date.
On the day of delivery, I received calls from the delivery men confirming 1/2 hour delivery.
They delivered the sofa, made sure it was working and took all the rubbish away. Top delivery lads

I visited Poltronesofà in Bolton with…

I visited Poltronesofà in Bolton with my mum and couldn’t walk a few steps without being approached by sales staff. We were constantly interrupted and felt closely watched, which made the experience very uncomfortable.

There was no chance to browse at our own pace, we were approached immediately and repeatedly, leaving no space to look around properly. It felt overly aggressive compared to other furniture stores like Designer Sofas, where you can browse freely.

We were also told in another store that others have made similar complaints.

Recommendation: give customers space to browse without constant interruption or pressure, it’s very off-putting.

I received the wrong colour in my sofa…

I received the wrong colour in my sofa and I was told there’s nothing that can be done even though the mistake was made on their end.
I’ve spend £3,000 on a sofa and it’s not the correct on!!!!!! The saleslady put in the wrong code for the fabric.

Not taking any responsibility for this mess.
Rang up today for the third time and the lady on the phone was so rude! Honestly the staff here need to really respect a paying customer. Never experienced such horrible customer service.

Would I recommend? ABSOLUTELY NOT

Received my sofa and chair

Received my sofa and chair, not happy sofa is damaged and the chair one of the legs doesn’t sit correctly. I have rang and emailed haven’t had any luck it’s been 5 days. The quality doesn’t look like the same one in store. One of the chair the legs are damaged.

How long will it take to get a response? After reading these reviews I don’t even think I will get a response.
