Pretty impressed with Selco aftercare services. We bought patio doors over 5 years ago that developed a significant fault that meant the door always had a big gap at the top when closed. Given that... See more

Good store overall with competitive prices and a great selection of products. The shopping experience would be even better if staff members were more welcoming and proactive in offering help.
I would like to leave a special review…
I would like to leave a special review for Selco Builders Warehouse – Hanger Lane, and in particular for Lilliane and Melanie. Their customer service is consistently amazing — always helpful, attentive, and professional at all times. They go above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly and that customers feel valued and supported. Their professionalism and positive attitude truly make a difference and are a credit to the branch. Highly recommended!

“Make a Complaint if You Want” Is Not Customer Service
I asked for help with several plumbing items I intended to purchase, but a long-standing member of staff at the Honeypot Lane store told me that customers are expected to find everything themselves. I was informed that even if I provided item names on a list, it was not his responsibility to help locate them on the shelves. Despite asking politely for assistance, his response was dismissive and confrontational, as though I had done something wrong simply by requesting help. It appeared that providing advice was considered too much effort at that time of the morning.
This interaction took place on 19 December 2025 at approximately 07:35. The staff member was noticeably unhelpful from the outset and stated, “This is my name—make a complaint if you want.”
What was particularly concerning is that, as a long-serving employee, his behaviour appeared to carry no consequences, suggesting that management either tolerates or overlooks such conduct.
I both work for a company and own a business that regularly spends four-figure amounts at this store, and I expect to be treated professionally. This experience stands in stark contrast to the service received at the Imperial Park and West Gate branches, where staff have consistently assisted with similar requests without issue or unnecessary confrontation.
What was most concerning was not just the dismissive attitude of one senior staff member, but the apparent culture that allows such behaviour to go unchecked. Being told to “make a complaint if you want” suggests a lack of accountability and confidence that management will not act. This points to a management issue rather than an isolated incident. Other members of staff were helpful and professional, which only highlights the inconsistency in service standards and the failure of management to enforce them.

Hopeless
Couldn’t make an account as their setup would not accept any password including proper autogenerated ones via Google or Apple . Wasted a lot of my time.
Update: Hepful reply from Selco, I’ve provided email so they can get in touch.
As Selco are genuinely trying to fix the problem I have now changed the rating to 5*.

I received outstanding Customer Service…
I received outstanding Customer Service from Cath in the Filton, Bristol branch. On a few occasions recently, she went above and beyond to make sure that parts of my kitchen order was rectified. I don't even think Kitchen's are her department but she ensured to remain the person I could contact and kept lines of communication open. As a customer it can get frustrating being passed around to different people and having to explain the issue several times. Cath took the stress out of the situation. This was greatly appreciated as I was partway through a kitchen install.
I also want to thank Pedro for his understanding and patience with the issue. He had every reason to make my situation difficult but yet again, I received excellent customer service. Well done Selco, I appreciate the service and will be back again to complete the house renovation!
A Masterclass in Customer Care: How Shabazz Saved My Selco Trip
I recently visited Selco Tottenham to buy a toilet, and what started as a simple trip quickly became a reminder that the right person can make all the difference. The model I originally wanted wasn’t in stock, but I spotted a display toilet that I actually preferred. When I asked the first staff member at the counter if it was available, she told me it was discontinued and that they couldn’t sell the display because it would require unscrewing and replacing it. Fair enough — but something in me said, No, this is the one I want.
Then I met Shabazz. And that’s when the entire experience changed.
I explained the situation to him, and instead of shutting it down, he actually tried. He called the supplier, checked every option, and when it turned out the model truly was discontinued, he still didn’t give up. He brought over the manager, explained my request, and the manager agreed: “If they want it, sell it.”
And just like that, I left with the exact toilet I had my heart set on.
Shabazz showed what real customer service looks like — patience, effort, and a willingness to go above and beyond. He turned what could’ve been a disappointing visit into a genuinely positive experience.
Selco, give this man a raise! Employees like him are the reason customers come back. And sometimes, the first “no” is just a reminder to find the person who’s not going to block your blessings.

Hardieplank order.
I ordered some HardiePlank from the Chelmsford store. The price was extremely competitive and all of the counter staff were very polite end helpful. I cannot fault the service.
Generally very good
Generally very good, the odd hicup now and again although it's normally resolved quite quickly.
Great shopping experience
Just popped in to pick up a couple of bits I had forgot and was served by a young lady who was so bubbly and professional, opened me an account and even reminded me to buy some screws and nails and gave me a pencil and pen.

Shame I had to pay a £25 delivery charge,as a trade customer,on a £130 purchase but it was very fast delivery and a lower initial price than most other local merchants

Great for the larger items with the free local delivery (though it was even better when it was only 100 ex VAT). Wide range and they are always honest and as flexible as they can be with delivery. In-store cutting service for sheet materials is handy too.
Very good products and helpful staff

Some of the check out staff have a really bad attitude. This has happened to myself twice now. Very rude and think that they are doing us as customers a favour. Both of these men where young white men with one having a beard. Telling me when I questioned his attitude to shop at another store if I did not like his attitude, and having a bad attitude is universal these days. I am of mixed race and look Arab. So I don't know if its something that gets them going as the feeling in the UK is anyone looking like that is a illegal immigrant. I have been buying my DIY items at this particular store for manys years and i have never been treated this badly before, But I will never shop there again as I think it is pure racism, as I observed their interactions with Caucasians is much different to how they treated me on both occasions. The other staff especially the two ladies I spoke to about this issue were fantastic. A couple of rotten apples can damage your reputation. Very disappointed and disheartened.
