Absolutely brilliant service start to finish!

After an extremely stressful experience with another garage, Selector Gearbox Centre were absolutely fantastic from start to finish.
My gear selector cable snapped on 30th March, and the RAC initially recovered my car under warranty to an approved garage, Ignition Autos in Middlewich. Ignition Autos had my car for two weeks and advised that although they had replaced the selector cable, the car was still struggling to select gears. They then told me they believed the clutch needed stripping, before calling the next day to say they suspected an internal gearbox fault and that the vehicle needed to go to a gearbox specialist.
The RAC then recovered the car to Selector Gearbox Centre and, despite the car being dropped on them last minute, they diagnosed and repaired the fault within around 3 days. Their knowledge and professionalism were outstanding.
Selector quickly identified that the actual issue was not an internal gearbox fault at all — the replacement selector cable fitted by the previous garage had been installed incorrectly and had snapped again. They also found that clips connected to the cable and clips on the centre console had been damaged.
The team at Selector Gearbox Centre were honest, knowledgeable, efficient and clearly experts in what they do. After being without my car for almost 3 weeks while pregnant and working full-time, it was such a relief to finally deal with a garage that genuinely knew what they were doing and got the car fixed properly.
I honestly cannot thank them enough and would highly recommend them to anyone needing gearbox or transmission work.

From the first contact, over the phone, with Selector Gearbox Speke, I understand they are very professional, approachable and the right place to fix my car. After few other phone calls to different others companies they was the only company which provide a quote ( estimated one) over the phone. Also they are providing a free diagnostic for your issue before ( other companies are charging for this) the final quote!?! Interesting this days when everyone are running after our money. Paul identified my issue ( damaged bering) after first few seconds ( he heard a specific noise), book me in and fix the issue. During the process you are updated by the email with pictures and all other informations. If you are looking for a place to fix the transmission issues, Selector Gearbox is the place to go. After searching 7+ garages in my local area under the RAC warranty list due to an oil leak identified, I came across selectorgearbox. Paul communicated with me via email at first and listened to my stresses of no other garages under RAC warranty, able to help due to 4 wheel drive automatic transfer box. Paul was great, when I took the car in he shown me exactly where the oil leak was coming from and what impact it will have the car. He took pictures, refilled my car oil and explained in detail what was best to do next to ensure the work was covered under RAc warranty. Would highly recommend, especially if your like me and don’t really have a clue about cars!

I purchased a second-hand car which unfortunately had a faulty gearbox. I took it to Paul and the Selector Team who fitted a new gearbox and also fixed other issues with the car that they encountered along the way. I found them to be very professional and trustworthy, and always available to reply to my questions. After many bad experiences with car dealerships and garages, finding Selector was very reassuring. I'd thoroughly recommend them.

I recently took my golf r in for dsg gearbox fault and was treated and welcomed by extremely friendly, professional and polite staff. My car was diagnosed and I collected my car within a few days. I would not hesitate to return or recommend people here. Fantastic service.

I have no knowledge of cars and had no idea what was wrong with mine. I went to my local garage who recommended I went to selector gearbox centre. As a female I am always nervous to go into garages in case I am ripped off and bambozelled with car talk! They explained what was wrong in a way I understood and gave me a price. They kept me up to date as well which was great because I was off work at the time. My car was fixed earlier than they thought as well, added bonus!

With regards to the review by Warren Atkinson,
Selector gearbox have been wrongly bought into his complaint. Their only involvement with the BMW was the programming and adaptations required to make a second hand (client requested) transmission work to his vehicle.

We have been using Selector for years for supply and/or repair of transmissions to ourselves. During this time, excellent service and work standards have been given to us.

Selector Gearbox recently carried out work on my 2010 5 Series BMW (at the request of HARTFORD MOTORS as they were unable to complete the job of replacing the Gearbox & Torque Converter)
I was not told in advance that my car was being sent to Selector, but only that if Hartford Motors were unable to get the engine to recognise the replacement gearbox there would be a cost in doing so.
The only cost given to me by Hartford Motors for replacement of the gearbox, prior to sending my car to Selector (without telling me) was £1,300!
When the car was finally repaired (it took a month) Hartford Motors gave me a bill for £2,312!!!! (subsequently reduced by £100 when I complained)
While my car was at Selector - THEY REFUSED TO TALK TO ME ABOUT MY OWN CAR and I was threatened by Peter of H/Motors that if I dared to contact Selector again then Selector would ensure the job took even longer!!!
After return of the car to Hartford Motors they refused to supply me with an invoice showing what Selector had charged.
I do not know whether the massive variance was an EXORBITANT CHARGE BY SELECTOR or BY HARTFORD MOTORS. One or other was certainly guilty!
As I cannot identify which company was the main culprit related to this enormous charge, I have no alternative but to give Selector a SINGLE STAR and warn anyone considering using them of my personal experience!
Additionally, my car was filthy inside when I picked it up from Hartford Motors.... it require full valeting, shampooing of the driver seat and the driver mat to be thrown away.

Amazing! The entire team at Selector Gearbox saved the day for me with my car that let me down with gearbox fault. They were so helpful making time to see me with just a weeks notice. I was stuck in Liverpool from a journey, they were able to find out the issue in no time at all and worked on it straight away! They seriously went above and beyond helping me with a courtesy car so I could get to a family funeral and even made my journey to collect my car easier meeting me half way from London!!! Price to fix was amazing! No other garage could look at it but without second thought Paul and the team were more than happy to help! Can’t recommend the garage highly enough!!! Amazing work, car drives 100% better and they’ve fixed other issues they found along the way just absolutely amazing. Forever grateful to Paul and all in the office & garage!

I have an Audi A6 with a DSG box Duel clutch system. No garage within 40 miles would touch it. Everyone recommended Selector Gearbox systems.
They look at my car read the codes and rang me with the bad news, while the job cost well over 1k they where upfront and honest about all costs even providing emails. The staff where great and the accommodated me at very short notice!
All I will say Audi wanted five times what I paid...
yes I would use them again in a heart beat!

Better still they found a leak, saving me a fortune in the long term!

I was referred by my long standing garage, Castle Motors (very good) for specialist DSG Auto Gearbox check. Easy to book in, was sent pictures of my vehicle & work required, a call to explain the work and the price before they went ahead. I trusted them completely & the price was very good. Honest about car condition & next steps. Highly recommend.
