Unsafe Store for LGBTQ+ Customers

CORPORATE REVIEW DUE TO CALLS BEING FORWARDED TO STORE MANAGER WE NEEDED TO COMPLAIN AGAINST.

On May 14, 2025 I went to pick up groceries at Elm St Manchester NH Market Basket and was dropping friends off in town. When I returned to the car with my groceries, my friends were still at the car.

A staff member in a green Market Basket shirt called my visibly trans friend a 'fruity f-gg-t' (edited not because I want to, but so this review isn't removed). When my friend turned to look at the staff member, he proceeded to make a 'come at me' arm gesture and say "it's what it is."

This was all witnessed by my other friend AND presumably caught on the store's security cameras.

The staff member then proceeded to stay within 1-3 car lengths from my friends, despite purportedly 'monitoring the parking lot and writing down license plates to have towed' in an EXTREMELY LARGE lot. For at least a half hour, per my receipt.

This is gender based harassment and illegal in NH.

This was reported to the manager on duty, who misled me to believe it was an employee of their towing company. It was a Market Basket staff member.

My two friends stayed with my vehicle after he used the violent slur and suggested he would be aggressive with my friend AND have my vehicle towed (again, I was inside, shopping).

The manager went outside to speak with the staff member while I waited at customer service. When he returned, he needed to be paged to c9me back and update me, and his attitude was 'what do you want me to do about it' AND he implied my friends were overreacting after they remained with my vehicle to make sure the staff member neither committed violence against it, nor have it towed....violence and towing having both been threatened at that point.

When my friend herself called and explained the situation to the manager on duty today (5/15) at midday, he misgendered her (knowing, per the complaint, her correct gender) and was again dismissive of the explicitly violent and discriminatory terms used by a member of his staff.

We all will be filing complaints with the NH AG as contacting MB corporate led them to forward our call to the SAME ABUSIVE MANAGER IN MANCHESTER.

APPARENTLY NOT LGBTQ+ SAFE OR FRIENDLY.
