The Scunthorpe team of conveyancing…
The Scunthorpe team of conveyancing solicitors namely Ellis and Rachel were professionally outstanding throughout a relatively difficult sale. Extremely punctual with every response. Also so easy to talk to with a very friendly demeanour.
Well done and thank you Team Sills Betteridge 🙂
Excellent, read on!
I am a British Subject and my wife is a German National. We have been married 21 Years, living and working in Germany. We sold our properties in Germany and assumed that on returning to the UK to reside permanently my wife could accompany me and also that she could apply for Leave to Remain in the UK after arriving in the UK as a Visitor.
This was a naive assumption on our part and is not true.
The application should have been made before entry to the UK and not whilst being a Visitor on a six month Visitor Visa.
This seriously complicated her application and my wife was at great risk to have to leave the UK after the six months had expired.
Deborah Linford at Sills and Betteridge Grimsby Office advised and assisted my wife in her application for leave to Remain in the UK as a partner, whilst in the UK as a visitor.
Deborah was, from the first consultation to the last, warm hearted and so genuinely helpful. She explained the legal situation in such a way which was easy to understand.
She advised us intensively, she did not make any false promises, she explained the fees fairly and there were no hidden costs, she explained the possible outcome of the Application.
When we had questions, after a consultation, it was never a problem to get hold of her. At the worst she would have called back within the hour. And she did just that on numerous occasions.
Without Deborah’s highly professional assistance we would not have managed to sort out this serious issue alone.
Because of Deborah’s high level of assistance the Home Office granted my wife Leave to Remain in the UK.
My wife and I are forever grateful (thank you Deborah). If for what ever reason, we require legal assistance in the future would always return to Sills & Betteridge.
Prompt, efficient and responsive service
We've used Campions services for the third time today, for assisting with Director's bridging loan guarantees. Their prompt, efficient and responsive service comes highly recommended - thanks Campions!

Exceptional advice given regarding information I needed about lease extensions. Stephen was immensely helpful in furnishing me with clear and concise instructions as to how to find a pathway forward. Rare to find such a friendly and professional company.

Experience as a first time buyer
At the start of the buying process I found Campions in Derby to be slow in responding to my emails and also there was rarely any answer when I called the office. I had to contact the Nottingham branch where Diane in the Orange Team was very helpful, she also told me there was staff sickness at the Derby office but I would have appreciated some response from the team at Derby regarding this. Following this I found communications improved with the Derby office and my emails were responded to more quickly. I mainly spoke with Pavan in the team during this time up until completion and found her really helpful, she answered all my questions and got back to me in a timely manner. I would have appreciated this service from the very start being a first time buyer I didn't have the assurance I needed and I did much chasing to ensure we completed according to the deadline.

Terrible.
They have high workloads and are unable to service clients adequately. When workloads are high, standards drop and this is exactly what's happening at Campions. On top of that my conveyancer was a trainee. Consumers don't pay full price for trainees in other services so why conveyancing?
I was just selling my property. I wasn't even in a chain and it took nearly 6 months to complete. And that was only achieved because I felt forced to actively gather information to satisfy the buyers solicitors questions in a timely manner because Campions didn't have the time or ignored requests hoping that the questions would just go away. Then Campions tried to get me to buy indemnity insurance to cover a question when there was no reason to so I gave a form of words to the buyers solicitor myself as to why they weren't getting it and it disappeared. Campions didn't try hard enough to push back or act in my best interests. Lazy.
They claim to follow protocol but don't. They never kept me updated. They didn't review any of the deeds, covenants pertaining to my property, causing them to 'look' into things at the very last minute, causing unnecessary delays and stress. They also nearly short changed me in my completion statement because they had missed things. Clients shouldn't have to double check the work of their conveyancer.
Genuinely the worst conveyancers I've had to date. Just embarrassing
Unresponsive, not very helpful and patronising.
Patronising and obstructive and they were supposed to be working for me, not against me! They handled our house purchase but it was one of the most painful experiences I have paid for. Hard to contact and slow to respond. Phones not answered and even visits in person they didn't answer the door! We had a different solicitors handling our sales and the experience there was the exact opposite, helpful, attentive responsive. Do not use this company.
The best within Nottinghamshire!
Definitely one of the best solicitors I have used, both in terms of competency and competitiveness. Naturally I had obtained quotes for my transactions from all the best rated firms covering Nottinghamshire, and Campions quoted the best deal. This is rule number one; do not just take a quote. Do your research and chose what works for you, but remember expensive definitely does not mean good, as the other party found out.
One thing that particularly first time buyers or those involved in their first purchase/ sale transaction need to appreciate is that as far as legal matters go there is a certain method and understanding that needs to be present on both sides. Solicitors are professionals, and as such would deal with things in their own manner, and most times in the time it takes to conduct legal business. This must not be taken as them deliberately delaying processes, and I highlight this as some of the reviews mentioning delays may not be fully appreciative of this. However, there needs to be some basic understanding and if things seem like they are taking a long time then of course please ask those who have recently been involved in property matters, and most of all involve your estate agents. With all basis covered I can testify that I found Campions to be spot on time with their work, and not only that they are one of the most approachable firms out there. It is also a plus that there is someone who responds within hours rather than having an automated “reply within x days”, and there is a dedicated phone number with an actual person on the other end.
We were unfortunately in a deadlock a few times, and Mr. Stephen Campion himself took matters into his own hands, replying to emails personally and assigned Ms. Janine Swinton who in tandem with the Red Team led by Kate Hindson were instrumental in my transactions. Simply put if it weren’t for them the whole purchase would have fallen apart. The seller’s team were not contactable and despite having everything including mortgage and insurance ready within a couple of weeks and searches ready to order, it took nearly three months for things to get a move on beyond basic ID checks from the other side. Thanks to Campions regular chasing of matters and relentless emails and phone calls we finally were able to complete this transaction. Furthermore they also provided assistance with insurance and declarations that were made a requirement by other parties.
I would be very happy to recommend Campions, and would definitely be using them again should I or a family member require any services.

From the initial request to final…
From the initial request to final completion, the help and advice from the group has been clear and accurate.
Their communication has been quick and each engagement was followed with written summary that could then be understood and followed.
Each stage was briefed and costs agreed before any action taken, which helped manage the process from my side.
They’ve helped reduce the stress from a difficult time.

I had a great experience working with Campions Solicitors and specifically with Diane, who was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. Limited Company BTL Purchase
This is the 3rd time I've used Campions for a personal guarantee/ILA for a limited company BTL purchase. The team organised advice within hours and at the most competitive rate I've seen. Cannot be faulted for BTL purchases.

Exceptional
I was recommended to use Campions by a colleague and instructed them for the purchase of my house a couple of years ago and have also just completed the sale with them too. The quotes were much more competitive than other solicitors and the process was seamless both times. Josie, who was my main point of contact, was a pleasure and extremely helpful and professional.
I highly recommend them and I will use them without a doubt in the future.

Amazing help from Pavan on our house
We had a wonderful experience securing our first house with Campion Solicitors with the help of Pavan. She was diligent and ensured we were constantly kept in the loop of any communication with the seller and their representatives. In addition, she chased queries for us and always made the effort to make us feel reassured.

Transfer of ownership
Just completed my transfer of ownership today.
Couldn't ask for better service. All team was great. Special thanks to Aneeka and Mickey who made whole process very smooth and easy. On top of that it was just a fraction of the price my local solicitor asked for.
Can not thank you enough!!!
