Fantastic little family run restaurant…
Fantastic little family run restaurant in Chersonisos, Crete, where locals live, a little off the beaten tourist path. Food is delicious, service is excellent and a genuine welcome. Great interaction with the people and in particular with our wonderful host Rania who is very informative, easy to talk to and encourages patrons to relax and take their time i.e. be like a local. Her Father has a rather impressive moustache! We were so taken with the Sirtaki Tavern we went back for a second visit before we flew home. Would advise booking in advance just to make sure you get a table. A few people arrived without a booking while we were there and there was no room, and no push for patrons to rush their meal and leave so more people could be taken in (unlike some other restaurants). I recommend the Souvlaki but be prepared to be unable to finish it by yourself (huge portion). Great value for us as Northern Europeans and we were delighted to have found it.
