Skoda Karoq stalling etc

I bought a Skoda Karoq 1.5 Tse in Sept 24 from Vantage at Morecambe. Since day 1 I experienced stalling and cutting out at junctions etc.and dangerous to boot. Reporting this on several occasions to Morecambe and Skoda at Leeds, I was fobbed off with nothing wrong. This has continued intermittently to date. After a so called investigation at Leeds, it was. closed with the offer of a hamper, where they were duly told what to do with it. I have today looked at a forum by Honest John a well known motoring pundit to find out that this problem is widely known, but obviously not to Skoda!!so they say. So if anyone else has this problem, they would appear to know about it! It would be nice to know if this has been addressed and if so why no recall??

Unreliable Automatic Gearboxes

£2k cost to replace the mechatronics unit in the gearbox of a 2021 kodiaq with only 20,000 miles. Should i expect a core safety and mechanical component to fail in a nearly new car with low mileage? Skoda won't tell me. In fact they will take no ownership of the issue and seem to have no internal complaint escalation process. Replacement gearbox has a 1 year warranty which doesn't say much about their confidence in their components. I've been a loyal Skoda customer for 20 years but afraid this is the end of the road.

Recently my car broke down and had to be towed into my local Skoda dealership, Wings of Peterborough, which turned out to be in longer than first thought, due to getting the parts that were required in, but I was dealt with asap and kept up to date by the service team with regards to the problem once found, my car was repaired, but unfortunately it developed another issue and I had to take my car back to get another issue fixed which was and again kept up to date by the service team, which I found reassuringly and I would like to thank Lea, Tasha and Paul the service manager for there professional help and personal service during the time my car was off the road, they were really good appreciating that I needed my car back asap because I am a taxi driver which they understood, so thank you all and would not hesitate to use again.
Kind regards
Matthew and Tim

⭐☆☆☆☆ Disappointing experience at Skoda…

⭐☆☆☆☆ Disappointing experience at Skoda Southend

I visited the dealership today as I am looking to order a new Motability vehicle and was particularly interested in viewing the Skoda Enyaq.

Unfortunately, the customer service I received was extremely poor. After explaining that I was a Motability customer and wanted to look at the Enyaq, I was simply told, “Here’s the coupe, the battery isn’t on it,” and then the salesperson walked away without offering any further assistance, answering questions, or discussing the Motability options available.

As a potential customer, I expected at least a basic level of interest and customer service, regardless of whether I was purchasing privately or through the Motability Scheme. I left feeling completely dismissed and unwelcome.

I appreciate that dealerships can be busy, but every customer deserves to be treated with courtesy and given the opportunity to discuss their requirements. Sadly, this experience has put me off returning to this dealership and I will be taking my custom elsewhere.

I hope this feedback encourages improvements in how future customers, particularly Motability customers, are treated.

Buying the right car

On 10th June 2026 I called into the Broadbridge Heath Škoda to ask advice as my Karoq arrangement was coming to an end. I spoke to Jake who listened attentively to my queries and immediately understood my needs. Jake could not have been more helpful and I came away having successfully completed a part exchange. I happily drove away in my new car two weeks later. My only issue with Škoda generally is that they do not sell hybrid cars, only plug in. However, Jake ensured that I left with exactly the right car for me and couldn’t have been more helpful generally. Thank you Jake.

Broadbridge Heath Skoda Recommeded

Broadbridge Heath Skoda was amazing. All the staff were helpful and knowledgeable, Jake especially, helped with the final process of collecting my car and was patient and friendly.
He managed to resolve some questions I had, and ensured the car I had purchased was delivered to my home, after a couple of tweeks were resolved.
I would happily recommend and would use them again in the future.

Cars are liabilities!

Not surprised to see so many negative reviews. I would never have another Skoda. The car has given trouble after trouble. The infotainment system will choose to stop working whenever it wants, and the windscreen has randomly cracked from the bottom up (no warranty on glass...) so a very expensive thing to put right. A load of rubbish. Will be trading in and counting my losses.

Extremely disappointing experience

Extremely disappointing experience with Škoda UK, Platinum Škoda Bath, and the wider handling of my case.

I am writing this review after months of unnecessary chasing, poor communication, unclear ownership, and a refund issue that should never have dragged on this long.

The issue relates to my Škoda Kamiq, registration OY72 ZJJ, and the service plan/refund matter connected to the purchase of the vehicle. From the beginning, there was confusion around the service plan that we were led to believe applied to the vehicle. When this was later questioned, the matter became a back-and-forth between the retailer, Škoda UK, and customer services, with no one taking proper ownership.

To be fair, Škoda UK’s Executive Office did eventually acknowledge that the difference between finance-linked service plans and other finance arrangements had not been clearly communicated during the sales process. A goodwill solution was offered in the form of an All-in-One Service Plan, which we accepted in good faith. That should have been the point where the matter was resolved professionally.

Unfortunately, it was not.

Since then, the handling has been extremely poor. The refund connected to this issue has been delayed, communication has been inconsistent, and we have had to keep chasing repeatedly for basic updates. We were told the matter was being monitored and that we would be contacted, but meaningful updates did not follow. At one stage, we were still waiting for a refund of £959.76 while continuing to be charged £32 per month on a credit card, which caused unnecessary inconvenience and financial impact.

What makes this more frustrating is that this is not about the service staff at Platinum Škoda Bath on the day of the visit. The service team themselves were professional and courteous. The problem is the wider customer care, complaint ownership, refund handling, and lack of clear communication between Škoda UK, Platinum Škoda Bath, and the parties involved in the original sale.

A customer should not have to send repeated emails, copy in multiple people, and keep escalating just to get a refund or a clear answer. Once a goodwill resolution has been agreed, it should be followed through properly. Instead, this has felt like a case being passed around with no one taking final responsibility.

My overall experience has left me very disappointed with Škoda as a brand. The car itself may be good, but the aftercare and complaint handling have seriously damaged my confidence. Good customer service is not just about offering a goodwill gesture. It is about completing what was promised, communicating clearly, and resolving issues without forcing the customer to chase for months.

Based on this experience, I would be very cautious about buying from or dealing with this network again unless there is clear written confirmation of everything promised at the point of sale.

A very poor experience overall, and not what I expected from Škoda.

Never buy a Skoda!

I bought a 2nd hand 2021 Skoda Fabia in 2024, and really wish I had not. If you do slight damage to the light light casings, the WHOLE LIGHT has to be replaced at a cost of about £280. What a waste of money - and all it needs is the plastic casing. Had I known, I would never have bought it. Had pretty awful service from the Skoda garage too. A few months earlier, the brake light failed and that cost nearly £300 because it was run by a circuit board which powered the light!

I gave my Skoda Kylaq for its first…

I gave my Skoda Kylaq for its first scheduled service, and the entire experience was a masterclass in incompetence.

To begin with, the service center completely forgot that I had a service appointment booked for that day. I had to call them repeatedly, remind them about their own appointment, and practically chase them down before they finally arranged to pick up the car. Not exactly the kind of professionalism you'd expect from a brand that positions itself as premium.

Things only got worse from there. Before the service, all the buttons on the steering wheel worked perfectly. After the service, they suddenly stopped functioning. It's remarkable how a routine service managed to break something that wasn't broken to begin with.

As if that wasn't enough, I discovered fresh scratches on the side of the driver's door after the car was returned. Handing over your car for maintenance shouldn't mean getting it back with new damage.

Then there's the infotainment system, which continues to be plagued by problems and glitches. While software issues can happen, the complete lack of attention to quality and customer experience makes them even harder to tolerate.

The most frustrating part is that the Kylaq itself is actually a fantastic car to drive. The engineering team seems to have done a great job. Unfortunately, the ownership experience is completely undermined by a service network that appears indifferent, disorganized, and careless.

The question every prospective buyer should ask is: Is the car worth the hassle that Skoda puts you through when it comes to servicing?

My answer is an unequivocal no.

A good car cannot compensate for a terrible ownership experience, and based on my first service alone, I would not want to associate with this company again.

The absolute worst

Having had an assortment of cars from Asian and European brands, of different ages with some good and some bad experiences, I can honestly say as the current owner of an Enyaq, that Skoda is currently the absolute bottom of the barrel for brand, car quality and dealership service in the UK. I will celebrate the day I get rid of this car.

Car sold as smelling of cigarettes and unsafe

My first attempt to buy a Karoq from a Škoda dealership ended when rust I identified on the vehicle was initially dismissed. I then purchased a different Karoq from Marshall Škoda Colchester after being assured it was in excellent condition.

On collection, the car had a strong cigarette smell which remains despite being raised before purchase. More seriously, the vehicle repeatedly stalled when slowing down and even cut out while I was crossing a junction, resulting in a near miss. The dealership eventually inspected the car after repeated requests.

The purchase process itself was poor, with a bank transfer having to be restarted when the salesperson assisting me disappeared midway through the transaction.

Four weeks after purchase, a dog guard that was included in the sale still had not been fitted, and despite formally rejecting the vehicle and complaining to Škoda Customer Services, I have had to repeatedly chase responses.

The most disappointing aspect has been the lack of communication, failure to fulfil commitments, and the apparent reluctance to take legitimate concerns seriously.

Life threatening structural failure on 30/03/2026—ignored by garages and insulted with a hamper by Skoda UK

I am writing this review to publicly expose the staggering lack of safety accountability, systemic gaslighting, and complete failure of a duty of care across the Skoda network—specifically Pulman Skoda Cramlington, Lookers Skoda Railway Street (Newcastle), and Skoda UK's corporate customer care.
For three years, I have battled back and forth with these dealerships regarding a chronic, dangerously dodgy gearbox on my 2023 Skoda Kamiq. Instead of acting like professionals and investigating the root cause, their default response was to call me a liar. I was aggressively pushed into a narrative of driver error, with staff claiming that the severe difficulty engaging gears was entirely down to my driving style. Even when I presented the car with a physically bent reverse gear selector—unmistakable, blindingly obvious proof of the extreme, unnatural force required just to operate a failing internal mechanism—they still had the audacity to fob me off, blame my driving, and protect their warranty metrics.
This institutional denial and refusal to take a customer seriously resulted in a terrifying, life threatening safety incident. On 30/03/2026, the structural ISOFIX bracket physically snapped and broke completely out of the vehicle frame. This catastrophic manufacturing failure occurred during normal use while my three year old son was secured in his correctly fitted Joie 360 seat.
Let me be entirely clear to the management teams at Pulman, Lookers, and senior executives at Skoda UK: a parent's driving style does not rip a solid steel safety mount out of a car's chassis. That is a critical structural failure that actively endangered my toddler’s life.
To make matters worse, the corporate handling of this nightmare has been disgusting. Throughout our email correspondence, Haleema Akbar from Skoda UK Case Management has treated a critical structural safety defect with sheer dismissal. Hiding behind corporate scripts, cold corporate deflection, and offering zero empathy to a terrified mother is morally bankrupt. To add absolute insult to injury, their idea of compensation and resolving a life threatening safety failure that endangered a child was to offer a hamper. A gift hamper does not fix a structurally defective vehicle or make up for years of negligence. They left a vulnerable family on a Motability lease driving a dangerous, unroadworthy vehicle for years because they were too defensive to admit a manufacturing fault.
I have now bypassed this toxic network entirely and officially logged a major vehicle safety defect report with the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) and filed a formal complaint with Motability Operations. If you value your family's safety and want to be treated with basic human decency, avoid Skoda UK and their dealerships at all costs. They do not care about you, they do not care about your children, and they will blame you and offer you a basket of food for their own dangerous failures.

Purchased a Skoda ENYAQ 85X 2 years ago…

Purchased a Skoda ENYAQ 85X 2 years ago on Motability. The car has been plagued with problems. So far, car has been back to the garage on 21 different occasions. Some of the issues have been: Dashboard blackout driving on the motorway, 3 times. Replacement of 12v battery, 3 times. Charging cable replacement on car port. 5 Canton speakers replaced. Tracking realignment, which never really improves. Issues with tyres. Brake pedal replacement, which broke 2 weeks later. Now awaiting another replacement.

However, the main bone of contention with Skoda has been the appalling after sales service, or lack of in my case. In just over 2 years, I have had to constantly instigate dialogue with this company. I have dealt with 3 different Skoda garages, and each has been worse than the last. As someone classed as disabled, I feel invisible on most days. Skoda has only reinforced this. I have listened to countless on the amount of times I have complained, both to Motability and Skoda. I rarely get anywhere with either company.

Would I recommend Skoda? Nope. Would I recommend the ENYAQ? Nope. Avoid this company like the plague.

After 2 years of nothing but stress, I have decided to call it quits and handed back my Skoda ENYAQ. Good riddance.

Handed back my Skoda Enyaq at White Dove Skoda. Greeted by a young lady who may as well have been an AI Bot. Asked why I was returning the car, I explained how unreliable and fault ridden it had been, not to mention the appalling after sales service. Her response? "OK, no worries. That's great. All sorted now. No worries" I was left speechless. Seriously, where do they get these people?
