Worst rental car driver I've ever had…

Worst rental car driver I've ever had in my life

I hired a Minibus with driver through this company for my 4 days trip from Fort William to Isle of Skye. Everyday we have 8 hours to use the car.

The driver name Gus, he is also the owner of the business.

In the first Day, Gus arrived 15 minutes late to the pick up location. I understand that he needed to come from Skye and he has a prosthetic leg so this is not a big problem.

We stayed at Skye for four days because we planned do some hiking, when we finish our lunch(about 2pm) and tell Gus our next stop. He started complaining left at 7 this morning and just want to go back to Portree and finish the day as soon as possible.

At the end we do some short walk and go back to Portree 30 minutes earlier than the scheduled time.

Second day, we went to Brothers Point to have a walk, I take us about 2hours. He don’t understand what we are doing and complain about we kept him waiting. After lunch we went to Quiraing, same as Brother Point, we spent about 3 hours to hike and he kept complaining. At the end we finish our day 1 hour earlier(not his problem)

Third day, It was originally planned that we would go to Fairy Pool first, and then go to Neist Point Lighthouse after lunch, but due to the bad weather, I changed my mind and planned to go to the lighthouse first. He start complaining for no reason and said some sarcasm that pretends to be a joke. At the end we finish 2 hours earlier due to the bad weather.

Forth day, we are back from Portree to Fort William. I clearly told him our plan was going to Storr in the morning then take the ferry to Mallaig then watch to steam train pass Glenfinnan Viaduct.

He started complaining again that it was almost 7pm to get back to Skye. Since he just wants to get to fort william quickly, he forgot to stop at Glenfinnan Viaduct. Luckily we still caught the time to see the steam train pass the viaduct. At the end we finish the day one hour earlier.

As a consumer, all I know is that I paid extra money for a 8 hours tour, not just transfer services from A to B. And because we have some hiking time, the driver only drives about three hours a day, most of the time he just waiting for us to come back, And the time it takes the driver to get home has nothing to do with me. If the driver can’t accept it, please don't take the job or raise the price at the beginning.

Usually I bring my customers visit Skye every year. I will never used this company again. If you are looking for minibus drivers, remember Gus will not accept any uncommon itinerary or any customer's request, he will only follow the itinerary he wants, otherwise he will keep complaining to you.
