SMC installed our video equipment at least 15 years ago. On Friday 27th February 2026 we had an electrical problem. I called SMC and was called back by Philip within the hour.

With great patience and few instructions on what to check he identified the problem and after getting a replacement part we were up and running on Saturday.

We were so impressed with the dedicated customer service received and not having needed service for 15 years it shows what a professional company SMC is and their customer comes first attitude.

Thoroughly recommended.

For years, I have struggled with consistent and stable Wifi over my premises (long, thin and massive brick walls between each room, very Wifi unfriendly requiring effectively a hard-wired WAP in each room). I tried several packages (Deco, Tenda): all demanded endless admin/maintenance/fault solving/re-booting locally, frequently rendering me insanely frustrated.

I called SMC (who I have know for 25+ years on the AV side). Their proposal was clear: get proper kit in and stop mucking about! They installed last July and I have had just one single manageable glitch since then. Even my children have stopped complaining.

And their after install service has been exemplary and system upgrades / adjustments are easy to implement.

Wholly professional and reliable. And made my life so much better!

SMC provided us with a brilliant service in the construction of our cinema room. Very knowledgable staff. Philip gave us excellent advice on which equipment to purchase. Ian and Ben installed the product up to a very high standard and Duncan was really helpful throughout. Can’t recommend SMC highly enough

Having used SMC in the past, I decided to upgrade my TV to the Panasonic 902B and move a few other TV's around the house as well as the new TV installing.

The service I received from Phil was first class, his knowledge on TV's and everything connected to TV's is fantastic, his knowledge is delivered to you in an exemplary manner as well.

The 58" TV, Ian and Ben arrived at 09.30 ready to install the TV and switch all the other TV's around, their work is a credit to the industry, they are faultless in every aspect, neat and tidy, very respectful of your home and above all extremely knowledgeable when it comes to installation. I can honestly say they go way above the call of duty, leaving my house at 21.00 at night making sure that everything was working and I was satisfied with what they had done. SMC, they are a credit to your organisation.

I then pick up the phone and arrange payment through Duncan who is the owner of the business, again an absolute credit to SMC.

Overall I rate SMC very highly and I will be using their service again in the near future, if you need a TV that is the place to head.

If you are looking to try before you buy any Television, Home Cinema System or HDD recorders you should visit SMC. Prices are very competitive but what is the real benefit is the honest advice you are given and the level of service provided. All the staff are helpful but I must mention in particular Duncan who was very helpful and demonstrated great patience when I purchased my Television, Soundbar and other add ones. Prices match other highstreet stores but with SMC you get the additional benefit of technical advice at the end of the phone. If you decide to purchase a complete system I recommend paying a little extra and getting SMC to assemble and install your purchases for you. Go on give them a go!

I’ve said it before, but just want to reiterate how appreciated it is that these guys (sales and on-site) go the extra mile to make sure the customer gets exactly what he wants instead of just ‘selling and installing’. Ian and Ben were happy to try various setting and change things (and explain things) so the system worked to suit our lifestyle. Thank you very much.

SMC upgraded the whole house system they installed 5 years ago with a HDanywhere 8x8 HDbaset matrix and added Control4 to manage the SKY, Freeview and Kaleidescape distribution over the existing cat 5 wiring. This incudes some lengthy distances and several WIFI access points which all need careful management. I am impressed with the level of expertise and attention to detail shown to all aspects of the implementation which makes it easy to operate. Phil is always available at the end of the phone to answer any post installation queries. Many thanks Jerry.

Approximately a month ago I was thrilled to learn that Panasonic were about to bring their first UHD Blu-Ray player to the UK market. After searching high and low online, for a retailer, I discovered SMC Custom Installations appeared to be the only retailer with the Panasonic UHD Blu-Ray on their website, at that time.
As with anything previously unknown, I had some trepidation purchasing from a previously unknown retailer but this was soon quashed by the erudite professionalism of the SMC Custom Installations staff in correspondence via email.
They informed me their initial order was limited and at that time I was the fourth to order and as such I would be sent the player as part of the initial first batch delivery.
In the intervening period I received frequent pertinent updates on the expected delivery date and they always replied back to my enquiries with haste.
SMC never attempted to 'hard sell' me anything else and provided very useful advice regarding the audio setup for this new Blu-Ray player.
To their credit they did not mislead me with unrealistic delivery dates, as I have observed with other retailers and even when the date Pamasonic would ship the players was revealed, they informed me of delays due to packaging the complimentary 4K disks at Panasonic UK.
Alas, despite placing my order over a month ago, Panasonic elected to ship to Currys before all others but I know there was nothing SMC could have done to obtain their stock any sooner.
In summary, very rarely does a retailer, especially one online, afford the same level of care and attention to their customers, as exhibited by SMC and this is exemplary. I will be returning to them for future AV purchases.

I found SMC to be excellent in every facet of the work carried out. Highly skilled and professional. The engineer who attended today (Ian) could not have demonstrated more dedication and customer focus towards me and the job. I would have no reservations whatsoever in employing their services again nor recommending them to others.

I have used SMC for many years now and always been very impressed with their service so it was them I approached when I contemplated upgrading my home cinema. From my initial contact to completion the level of service can only be described as exceptional.
There was an opportunity to hear the equipment I was interested in in their well appointed demonstration room and a site visit undertaken to look at possible solutions to my requirements. The detailed written proposal was indicative of the attention paid during our meetings and that Phil and Duncan fully understood my needs.
I was given dates for the installation with a detailed quote for the work which was completed with a minimum of fuss by the electrician Ash and Ian the installation engineer on the days specified. The quality of the workmanship was of the highest order.
It has been a pleasure to have SMC carry out this project.
A small company with the highest of standards of service, technical expertise, installation skills and customer care which I would recommend to anyone without a moments hesitation. Long may they continue providing this service, it is a breath of fresh air to see that such firms exist.

Philip and the team at SMC commissioned our home with TV's, Cinema equipment, Sonos throughout three years ago. This week, our Sky HD anytime box failed to operate. I text Philip on a Sunday, he responded within 10 minutes, diagnosed the fault and installed a new box within days. No charge - as their customer service mantra is to deliver world class service. I cannot recommend this company enough. Amazing!!! Thank you - once again!

We sat down with SMC (Phillip) not really knowing what we wanted to install in our house but with the overall aim of future proofing the visual and sound installations for many years.
Phillip spent many hours with us explaining various options and the pros/cons that apply to the many choices that were on offer.
We eventually decided on a control 4 system with cinema screen with audio and TV around the house, this was followed by a CCTV system all linked back to the control 4 system.
From the design stage through to the installation where Ian and Duncan were outstanding the whole quality of the SMC offering was second to none hence I cannot recommend SMC highly enough.
The afterservice has proven to be just as good even if as usual it is down to operator error. one phone call and the issue is resolved.
One final point where SMC should be commended is that from quotation to final install our house took about a year to complete and in that time any reductions or sales promotions from the manufacturers of the equipment that we were having was passed on to us whereas any increases were not.
This also included where a product was updated the SMC team maintained the original quoted price.
A really brilliant service

SMC had the speaker cable I was looking for and responded to my email enquiry promptly. I went in on a Saturday and the cable and banana plugs were kindly terminated for me in the store while I waited. Great service, much appreciated.

After being recommended I talk to SMC Custom Installations, I’m glad I did. They listened to my requirements, made suggestions and came up with a speaker package solution to match my budget. Being a novice, they guided me through everything I needed. They exceeded expectations when it came to price as well – so I ended up upgrading a few things! Topped off with fast delivery and some follow up help. Definitely five stars.

Amazing service, with a real personal touch; Duncan and Phil's expertise is second to none in this field, my front room finally sounds better than the cinema, thanks to this duo.
I cannot recommend them enough, I will certainly be going back to them, in fact I'm already planning my TV purchase.
