So many viruses
I remember the one time years ago I grabbed software from them and it gave me a virus. It wasn't like I grabbed photoshop either, it was a simple fan game.
I doubt they scan, or filter anything even to this day.
Edit: Saying they scan for viruses is absolutely a lie. Make sure to read the other negative reviews, and not the positive (fake) reviews. The people at Softonic should be Nuremburg'ed, it would be morally righteous.

Infected by Virus warnings
I have the same exact issue that has already been posted. I downloaded a program from Softonics site today Feb 02, 2025 within 15 minutes I had tons of pop-ups from the Major anti-virus providers. Avast, McAfee, Norton, Malawarebytes and a few other companys that my pc was infected with all these viruses. I looked closely and all these pop-ups were coming from en.softonis.com. I clicked the x to close these pop-ups but, they just kept coming back. I had to turn off Google Notifications, Reset my Browser, Run and Anti-Virus Full scan, reboot my computer and run an offline boot up scan and reset all my passwords and scan my router and change my WiFi username and password. This has happened to me a couple times over the last 5 years. I can't trust their software. I will never download any software from Softonics site again

I downloaded amcap.exe for an endoscope…
I downloaded amcap.exe for an endoscope camera. The download worked fine, but since then I constantly get pop up boxes saying "Mcafee out of date" and viruses detected, etc. and now random "news" items like "Tesla price increase", all of them show en.softonic.com in the box. I tried running Spybot and Windows Defender but they made no difference. Get your downloads from another site, this is a spam site.
Now I see from one of their replies they suggest changing the Chrome settings to stop receiving notifications. I did that and it seems to have worked, but their site shouldn't be sending this rubbish in the first place.

It offered an executable which had nothing to do with my search
I was looking for an extension for my browser which had stopped working. In so doing, I ended up at Softonic. When I clicked on the download link (thinking it was the extension I wanted) in downloaded a file compression installation file instead. Completely deceptive and potentially dangerous.

Fake virus alerts after download…
Fake virus alerts after download attempt
Since I tried to download a midi player, I receive about 17 warnings from en.softronic.com per day. McAfee (which is not installed) warns v=for several virusses and claims that 97% of PC is hacked. Also that telphone is not secure anymore (working on WIndows 11). Malware and other virusscanners report no virus at all. Warnings keep coming. MIdi player deleted before installation.

I downloaded 327 games for my sons including games like gta 8 spiderman 7 Minecraft 3 and Fornite 2 this was a scamm for sure I loaded up fortnite 2 and it gave me a virus which exploded my house and made me homeless I am at a cafe writing this right now to punish them.
