A conscientious, honest a persistent French lawyer.

I highly recommend Fabien Cordiez who is extremely conscientious, honest and very persistent in achieving goals. Mr Cordiez kept me advised throughout the entire the transaction. Even when the situation changed at the last minute, he dealt with the French notary on my behalf, was quick to respond and made things happen. His fees were very reasonable.

Very Poor Treatment !

I am a genuine ex-customer of this solicitor.Do not use him.I paid him 2100 Euros to help us recover a deposit on a house in France. He did not check if the contract issued to us was valid. It was not valid as the vendors were Estate Agents and this had not been declared in the contract. He only had to look on Infogreffe( French version of Companies House in UK) to discover this and then recover our deposit. He sent many time-wasting e-mails to me which he then used to justify his fee when I asked for it to be returned. He was very insistent that we provided him with as many e-mails between the Notaire and myself as possible,he then accused us of being dishonest as he felt that we hadn t provided all of them. The e-mails between the Notaire and myself did not need to be read at all.We were relying on his professional knowledge to check legal issues ,not e-mails.I am not a legal person but have managed to have my deposit returned by the Notaire having spent a year and a half looking at and translating French legal documentation.I have also discovered another check that a solicitor like M Cordiez could investigate in order to help his clients recover their deposit.M. Cordiez did not suggest this either. If only he had looked at Infogreffe and recovered our deposit from the Notaire then this review would have been quite different.

Reply from Fabien Cordiez, French Lawyers and Solicitors

Dear Sir,
We have read the negative review which you left today about our services.
We are sincerely sorry you feel dissatisfied about our review of the purchase contract.
Those costs which we agreed were for legal advice only, not for recovering your deposit from the notary. Over our extensive correspondence, it became apparent that, as your lawyers, we weren't given the full picture by you. In spite our requests, you never provided us with a full copy of the documentation needed to fully appraise the situation. Moreover, those legal grounds upon which you intended to rely to claim your deposit back were not founded.
You were obviously disappointed by the fact that our analysis of the legal position was not a 'clear cut' conclusion in your favour. You subsequently asked us to carry out extra work, by claiming your deposit back from the French notary on your behalf, in spite of the fact we did not have all the necessary copy evidence to do so, something we said we would be prepared to undertake, at extra cost and subject to us obtaining a copy of the missing documents/correspondence. You rejected our discounted fixed fee proposal for undertaking the above and did not provide us with a copy of the requested necessary missing documents.
You now claim having instructed us to recover your deposit from the French notaire - which is false. Your comments are defamatory. Complaints are not illegal, but libel and intentional defamation can have legal recourse.
Yours faithfully,
