Starting with the POSITIVES
Efficient process of booking through Solmar Villas online.
Villa Name : Villa Artemisia- Coral Bay.
Villa spacious, with good range of utensils.
Good location, Villa is close to shops, main activities.
There were a few issues with toilet flooding on arrival, air con not easy to control and navigate. Contacted Solmar helpline and they were quick to respond.
Nice Pool which was cleaned twice a week.
NEGATIVES
On arrival ants on work surface source was coming from food at the bottom of dirty unemptied bin in the kitchen- easily cleaned and emptied by me. Ants no longer a nuisance! With flooding a disappointing start.
Villa furnishings are tired and many are in need of replacing, legs on outside Charis missing screw and unsafe to sit on. Many cats sleeping on outside seating cushions so unable to use. Fouls smell in downstairs bedroom en-suite (& outside pool area) plus a couple of cockroaches,(there were sprays under sink so they was used frequently)
Location surrounding Villa horrendous - dark with no lighting and piles of rubbish, old mattress etc just as well the villa is surrounded by trees to block out these sights, however smell from rubbish unavoidable. I have taken pictures of this area if needed.
I think the Solmar need to review and assess the Villas that they are renting with a little more care.

Arrived yesterday at a Solmar Villa in Lanzarote and want to leave already!
Some of the delights we have been met with on day 1 of a 10 day holiday!
- One key for getting in and out of the villa. Not ok for a party of 6 people!
- Alarm went off and there was no instructions on how to turn it off. We then had an internal Comms system going off because the alarm had sounded. This was very stressful!
- Back gate came off it's hinges and my husband and dad had to spend time fixing it - my dad is 77 and should be lifting gates back into a runner to get them to close! The gates are so heavy!
- Table not cleaned - crumbs on it. This is so basic!
- Crumbs in a drawer in the kitchen which is beyond disgusting and just proves the lack of cleaning!
- Portable BBQ will fit about 2 bits of chicken on it so we'll be BBQing all night long to make a meal for 6 people! We came to a villa to use a BBQ for meals!
- No toilet roll in the villa. Spent £1800 and you couldn't even provide a single toilet roll for a family of 6 people? This is bloody ridiculous!
- The safe is so small that it doesn't fit a standard sized iPad in it so some of our valuables will be left out. Which given other reviews have mentioned about being broken into, it's far from great!
- Looks far better in the pictures than it does in real life so hats off to whoever you employed to take the photos. They need a raise as they have played a blinder because the place does not look like the photos!
- Side gate to the property very temperamental when opening and closing so it takes forever to get in - got a video of this to share with Solmar when they feel like getting back to me.
- Parasols look past their best and the sun loungers too. They need replaced!
- Dirty seat cushions at the garden table!
I am beyond angry and disappointed and feel so let down. I cannot believe I have paid £1800 for THIS!!
Update this morning:
Blinds broken in living room so can't close the blinds.
Just woken up to find that my parents have a cockroach in main bedroom!!! This is disgusting!!
There is mould in the bathroom shower cubicle.
All of this simply isn't acceptable. The place is dirty and in need of a major refresh. I have already submitted a complaint and will take it further with whoever Solmar are regulated by to get answers.

We have booked with Solmar Villas on 5 previous occasions with no problems. We have noticed that the company has been under new ownership since last year. Can Font Roig is a traditional Mallorquin house which has been neglected. Outside it needs painting & the BBQ, patio furniture & parasol base are all badly rusted. Inside the furniture is old& shabby. Cushions inside & out are stained. The kitchen & bathrooms need upgrading with chipped tiles. The whole building needs rewiring.
We arrived to find no condiments, dishcloths or cleaning products had either been provided or left from previous guests. We found this unwelcoming & it hasn’t happened before. The property also lacked
1 a visitors book with local recommendations
2 guidance on recycling
3 a safe
4 appropriate markings on the many interior & exterior steps (important safety issues as I am rising 80)
5 an accurate WiFi code
6 a local rep to contact
7 a thorough clean
The pool is basic surrounded by unsightly sheep proof netting & 1 torn & faded beach umbrella for 6 guests. This patio needed power washing & sweeping. In 12 days we saw no one tend the pool which slowly filled with leaves, or the surrounding garden.
A dark pantry infested with tiny red ants contained a large amount of crockery, glassware, cutlery & cooking utensils; but we had to scrub everything before we could use it.
Most distressingly, every day in the afternoon, a farmer from next doors farm brought a full flock of sheep to graze in the orchard adjoining the property. There was nothing to stop the sheep straying onto the ground floor patio & leaving their droppings. We found this unhygienic & offensive.
Lastly the website pictures were misleading. There was no table on the first floor balcony, no seating cushions on the white patio furniture, different sun loungers, & no proper sunshade.

While we were out that night, we returned back to our villa to find that our villa had been completely ransacked, with the safe easily removed and taken that contained all our passports.
We called the police who arrived an hour later and asked if we had any camera footage. In fact we had no CCTV or any alarms. The front door had one flimsy lock on a handle where you could gain access with a credit card! Furthermore, the back gates were constantly left open by the staff who worked at the villa . It was perfect for any one to break in and leave unnoticed!
This left our kids so traumatised we had to leave the villa that night and stayed in a friends villa cramped in one room trying to come to terms with what had just happened,
The next day was spent at a Turkish police station where we felt as if we had done something wrong. It seemed this villa was not registered so we had to wait for hours until the owner of the villa turned up to deal with the police. After about 4/5 hours we managed to get the report, but we could not report it as a burglary ,as we would have to wait for 2 weeks, this is because the local police would have to bring in outside police to investigate the crime. Therefore we were advised to report our passports as being lost. All this added to our stress.
We then had to book into a hotel until we obtained emergency passports, and then the stress of booking flights! We eventually had to book 2 separate flights back as there were hardly any return flights.
When we returned we contacted Solmar by email and phone, without reply, only a generic email. After constant calls and emails we received an email stating that their security met with their standards! An absolute joke!! A Luxe Collection villa with this kind of security- beggars belief.
Please do not consider using this company, the customer service is beyond bad, with no understanding about how our whole holiday was ruined by this experience and the trauma it caused for our children.

Burgled on holiday-Solmar Villas have woeful security standards and appalling customer care.
We were burgled on holiday, the robbers ransacked the Villa we were staying in and ripped out the entire safe. This left our kids so traumatised that we couldn’t stay at the villa for the last two days of our holiday, we then had to move to a hotel until we obtained emergency passports to travel home and spent some extremely stressful time at a Turkish police station.
The security at our villa was woefully inadequate, it had a front door with only one lock in the handle, and you could gain entry into the villa from the front door using a credit card. In addition, the alarm and CCTV didn’t work. Furthermore, the back gates were constantly left open by the people who worked at the villa.
When we raised these security issues with Solmar Villas, (calling them and emailing them repeatedly after we got home), they refused to engage with us meaningfully for 6 weeks, not so much as a courtesy call to enquire after our well being after this ordeal. They then sent us an email saying that they were satisfied that the villa met their security standards and that an alarm and CCTV wasn’t required for this type of property, despite this villa being part of their Luxe Collection.
I would urge, (in the strongest terms), not to use this company as they have refused to learn anything from our terrible experience, so they can improve the standard of security at their villas, and reduce the risk of burglaries occurring for other customers in the future. Indeed, they only seem interested in ensuring that they try to place the blame on you in order to avoid liability for compensation.
The email they eventually sent us insinuated that the robbery was somehow our fault, because (apparently), you can turn the one
lock(in the front door handle)
three times, we turned it once (from outside) when going out, but we know for a fact it didn't turn at all from the inside as we tried it. So in effect, we were sleeping at night with a flimsy door that you could gain entry into with a credit card.
Furthermore, Solmar have the most appalling customer service, unless of course you are one day late in making a payment for your villa, when they are more than happy to give you a call, email you and engage with you.
It goes without saying that I do not recommend you spend your money with this company, please note there have been other reviews left where robberies have taken place, with Solmar Villas behaving in these ways towards other customers too. Ultimately, this is a company that isn’t interested in a dialogue in order to learn from these awful situations, or take the necessary actions to improve the security at the villas they rent out; thereby reducing the risk of this happening to other customers. In short, they treat their customers with contempt.

We stayed with Solmar Villas from 31st August to 7th September. The villa itself was beautiful, spacious, quiet, and well located near shops and restaurants. Bedrooms were large and comfortable, and we appreciated the pool floats left by previous guests.
Unfortunately, the service and maintenance were extremely poor and ruined much of our holiday. Communication was slow from the start, and we were ignored on AirBnB messages before arrival. We were told we couldn’t check in early even though the villa was clearly vacated — and when we did get in, it wasn’t properly clean (bathroom hairs, stained mattresses).
The worst part was the maintenance:
• Broken microwave, not fixed until 1.5 days before we left.
• Faulty pool vents that caused injuries to our feet and left the pool unusable (never fixed).
• Unsafe, rusty grill in the outdoor oven (only fixed 2 days before we left).
• We had to wait in for repair teams with vague ETAs like “tomorrow” or “later on,” meaning we lost over 50% of our holiday time. Staff sent to inspect were rude, unhelpful, and even entered a bedroom without permission.
Facilities were also not suitable for 8 people: poor shower pressure, a tiny oven, and only 3 hob rings, so cooking for everyone was impossible. We had to eat out much more than budgeted, adding unnecessary stress and cost.
The local rep eventually admitted compensation was approved, but I was told I would need to chase it myself with head office — yet more wasted time.
Overall, while the villa itself was lovely, the lack of service, unsafe facilities, and total disregard for customer care mean I would not recommend booking with Solmar Villas.

Villa Konstantinos – Honest Review - Crete
If you’re considering Villa Konstantinos because it’s advertised as a “luxury” escape — think again. On the surface it’s spacious with a decent pool, but our 10-night stay was plagued with constant intrusions, poor maintenance, unreliable facilities, and one deeply upsetting issue that no guest should face.
Positives
• Spacious property: Plenty of room for families or groups.
• Private pool: Well maintained and the best feature of the villa.
• Outdoor BBQ: Great to have, though no coals provided.
• Air conditioning: Worked well throughout the villa.
Negatives
• No privacy: Staff entered the villa grounds unannounced every day — morning, noon and night — mowing, cleaning the pool, and doing maintenance. Staying with three women, this felt intrusive and unsettling. We never knew who might appear.
• Rude cleaning request: Mid-stay we were abruptly told to leave so cleaners could work, with no consideration for our young baby.
• Disturbance on arrival: On night one, at 3 a.m., part of a doorframe broke off with a loud crash, waking everyone.
• Terrible directions: We spent two hours lost in the mountains at 3 a.m. trying to find the villa; only the UK-based owners helped us locate it.
• Poorly maintained facilities:
• Outdoor furniture was worn and dated.
• Kitchen equipment battered or missing; extractor hood broken.
• Several door handles broken.
• Washing machine door damaged and hard to open.
• Upstairs bathroom floods when showering as the central drain overflows.
• Rainfall shower head covered in mould; we asked cleaners to clean it, but they didn’t.
• Patio overrun with ants — a single dropped crumb was swarmed in minutes.
• Pool table in terrible shape; balls chipped and unpleasant to use.
• No guidance on hot water — only after seven days did we find a hidden black button to activate it.
• Mattresses uncomfortable; after 10 nights my back was ruined.
• Unreliable electrics: The fuse box tripped five times, usually overnight, cutting power and turning off the fridge — worrying when storing baby milk.
• Animal welfare concerns: A friendly stray dog was on the property. My partner spent days arranging a loving home for him, only for staff to twice remove and abandon him (first at a beach, later on the coastline) despite us asking them to leave him. This was appalling and deeply upsetting.
• Misleading advertising: Photos clearly show the villa when it was new; they don’t match the tired, poorly maintained reality. The property is marketed as “luxury,” but it’s far from it.
Ratings
• Privacy: ⭐☆☆☆☆
• Cleanliness: ★★☆☆☆
• Facilities: ★★☆☆☆
• Comfort: ★★☆☆☆
• Pool: ★★★★☆
• Overall: ★★☆☆☆
Final thoughts
Villa Konstantinos could be great, but currently it’s let down by intrusive staff, rude guest handling, poor upkeep, unreliable electrics, hygiene issues, and — most upsetting — the mistreatment of a stray dog. A holiday villa should feel private and relaxing; this one didn’t.
The glossy photos and “luxury” label don’t reflect reality. Until the owners address privacy, maintenance and guest care, I cannot recommend Villa Konstantinos and strongly advise looking elsewhere.

The villa is tired and rather dated. No decent showers. Kitchens were badly equipped, for example, there were no shelves in the upstairs kitchen oven! I looked everywhere for them. The AC didn't work properly in the downstairs double bedroom and there was only one remote control for this room, which had to be shared with the upstairs double bedroom. The sink in the downstairs bathroom was blocked. A couple of chairs weren't useable due to being partially broken. The list went on. This is unacceptable and shows poor maintenance. As we were only there for a week, we didn't want people coming around to do maintenance jobs, as was offered. I asked Solmar Villas for compensation but this has not been acknowledged. Consequently, I find them to be an untrustworthy company and won't use them again.

Contact with staff at Solar Villas was excellent from the start. Staff really helpful and responded quickly to any queries. Villa itself was adequate but bathrooms need updating and beds very hard and uncomfotable. Pool was excellent but another umbrella would have been useful. We thought use of a car should be recommended rather than optional as taxis are hard to source. But overall a very good holiday. Would definitely use Solmar again

The villa was lovely but the service from the admin team was dire. Booking was easy but once we had paid it was difficult to get satisfactory responses from queries especially when notified repeatedly that the automatic emails detailing villa guide and directions had no details to download . Had we arrived at night we could not have found the villa and it took the concierge team several attempts to help us.

1 wk stay at Villa Maria Pollensa, Majorca from 30.08
Numerous issues during our holiday with over 20 calls texts and emails with Solmar meaning there was only 1 day of our holiday that I was not having to contact the helpline or other company reps. It took over 10 calls, reporting 7 different issues until it was decided my case should be escalated to a villa manager in the area, but even then we did not get a personal visit, just calls. We have been holidaying in villas in and around Pollenca for 40 years using lots of different villa companies and in all instances we would always have a personal visit from a rep if any minor issues arose. Based on my experiences and the issues we had (partially functioning toilets, broken air con remote, water level warnings) I cannot imagine what must happen to you for Solmar to decide you deserve a rep visit.
There was really no proactivity in the management of my issues. I was ringing the helpline to get updates rather than Solmar contacting me, and when they did it was to clarify a detail of one of our issues (which of the 2 toilets at the villa was not working even though I had stated this when reporting the issue to the helpline the night before) and then to notify me my case had been escalated.
Also, given the high number of calls to the helpline and the number of issues we had, there was no customer care follow up on our return from holiday - apart from generic emails and marketing emails etc.
One other thing that I definitely did not expect from a high quality Villa hire company is that there were NO TOILET ROLLS in either of the bathrooms. Luckily we had brought some with us so we could use the toilet before going to a supermarket. I expect to buy more but to not have any on arrival - that was another first in our 40 years of villa use.
Based on our experience we will NEVER use Solmar Villas again, and would not recommend them to any family, friends or colleagues.

Beautiful Villa with really nice pool. Had everything we needed. Only fault would be the 2 double beds were not comfortable, the 2 singles were perfect. Really enjoyed our stay. Car is definitely needed.

The island of Skopelos was a fantastic destination. The villa, with its infinity pool, was delightful.
Solmar reps were extremely helpful with the boat transfer from Skiathos to Skopelos and the subsequent return, but it does make for a long journey time door-to-door.

DO NOT USE. Absolutely shocking experience with this company, do not use.
We had issue after issue with this company from day one and nothing was ever resolved. I don’t even know where to start, the villa was dirty and not cleaned even when the cleaners visited once in our 2 week stay they only changed our towels over no other cleaning was done. From day one of booking this holiday they got so many things wrong for us. I have 8 month old twin boys, we requested and paid for 2 cars seats for transport these were not present when we got picked up from the airport so we were illegally driven to the villa by a driver who had no care of safety for young children or people in general. We also requested and paid for 2 high chairs for my babies only 1 was at the villa and it took them 4 days to get another one to us so I had to feed my babies on the floor! Our villa was also broken into, all of our bags, money, etc stolen and they couldn’t even care less. They were supposed to do a security check and visit us at the villa for a follow up and this never happened. The police came to visit the villa and explained the security of the kitchen window where they broke in wasn’t secure around the window frame so we got robbed for there inadequate security to the property. The downstairs bedroom door had already been kicked in before we got to the villa by somebody else which makes us think this villa has been burgled before. The security and safety of this villa is shocking, the windows upstairs where my sister slept they didn’t lock and the side door where the pool man let himself into never locked either. We emailed the company and spoke to them verbally to raise these complaints and just before we were due to go home we rang and emailed to confirm car seats for the pickup and our pickup location as this was different to where they dropped us off and yet again to no surprise we had no car seats at pick up and they went to the wrong location so we were over an hour late to the airport and had to run for our flight. We have emailed them several times with other issues and they never emailed us back, we spent everyday calling them with complaint after complaint. They have ruined my first family holiday. Do not use this company.

I stayed at Villa Rigani in Palaiokhóri and had a very disappointing and unsafe experience.
The villa’s pool leaks water directly onto electrical wiring, creating a clear electrocution hazard. I am a civil engineer and one of my colleagues is an architect – we immediately recognized this as a serious safety issue.
I reported it to the property and through Booking.com, but instead of resolving the problem with a professional inspection, the manager dismissed it as “normal overflow.” This is unacceptable. We could not use the pool at all, even though it was one of the main reasons for booking this villa.
On top of that, the villa was poorly managed from the start (we didn’t even have hand soap in the bathrooms on arrival). I initially overlooked small details, but ignoring serious safety hazards shows a total lack of responsibility.
If you value your safety and a well-managed property, I strongly advise avoiding this villa and this company.

Place was dated. WiFi extremely slow. Our flight was in the evening and when we asked for a late checkout they refused saying their deep cleaning needed time so we have to leave at 10am. This is obviously untrue because judging by the cleanliness, the last time that villa had a deep cleaning was years ago.

Robbed 2 hours after arriving in Villa Amelia bay coral bay pathos. Masked men armed threatened my sleeping children upstairs! Windows left open by cleaners and doors, set up job! Warning do not stay they are extremely unsafe and then when you call for help they accuse you of being liars!! They seem to be set up villas. No cameras or security extremely unsafe ruined our holiday traumatised our children and ransacked us!

It was a very nice villa very clean and the welcome pack was very welcome but after over 2 hours we found it which l may add was in the dark and the 2 cones across the road did not help but apart from that is was a great holiday.

Villa Coelha was just like the photos on Solmar's web site. The views were amazing and we were only a 5 minute walk from the nearest beach with other beaches again in walking distance. We were also able to walk to some fabulous restaurants in the evening - O Marinheiro, Olive Bistro and Garden, and Restaurante Pôr do Sol were our favourites.
There was a little supermarket in a hotel which was a 15 minute walk and a big Spar which was a 25 minute walk.
As you can tell we didn't hire a car. If we needed to go further afield we got ubers which were 5 Euros to the marina/old town for example.
Even though we had other houses and villas nearby, it was nice and quiet. The villa was clean and tidy, nice pool (it gets very deep - 2 metres - very quickly so you would have to be careful with children) and fantastic showers, inside and out.
We felt very secure with the shutters on every window/patio door. We had a problem with one of the shutters but we rang Solmar and someone came and fixed it within a couple of hours.
All the appliances seemed to work ok although we didn't try the oven or BBQ and never managed to work out the TV. We could get Netflix to work (if we signed in using our own account) but couldn't find any other channels that worked. Instructions would have been useful, however, this wasn't a big deal as we'd rather look out at the view!
There was an elderly Portugese couple with their dog, Robbie, living behind us who were lovely - very friendly even though they couldn't speak any English.
Overall it was everything we hoped.
As for Solmar themselves, when we booked the email I received confirming our booking said 'our dedicated villa specialist will call you in the next couple of days to run through your booking and answer any questions you may have.' Well, that never happened but when I did contact them with questions, they were quick to respond.
We also booked transfers through them and they were good (particularly the one who picked us up from the airport who was very welcoming, funny and gave us lots of recommendations).
So I would use Solmar again and definitely recommend Villa Coelha.
