Avoid this company

Bought one small lot over a month ago, and paid for postage. Heard nothing since. Sent numerous emails and called, even contacted easyliveauction.com, and write to the auction house.

I've heard nothing, and am being totally ignored. They have my money and my items. I may now have to seek legal advice to either get my items or my money back. Noticed that on Google reviews and on here this company seems to do things like this a lot.

Avoid using South Dorsetshire Auction.

Avoid using South Dorsetshire Auction.

After my father was left paralysed and moved into a nursing home, I trusted this company to clear his cottage and properly handle items of value. I was explicitly told everything would be assessed “with a fine tooth comb” and that sentimental items and important documents would be safely set aside.

This was not the case.

Large amounts were simply dumped in a workshop. When we checked ourselves, we found critical documents including the deeds to the cottage and my parents’ wedding album—items that could easily have been lost permanently.

I was also told to expect around £2,000 back for my father after costs. Instead, after chasing for over three months, I was informed there was little to no return (and I am still waiting to receive anything). Some items appear to have been significantly under-sold, and at least one item we were told would go to auction was never sold.

I am still waiting for items that were not put into auction to be returned, and repeated attempts to contact the company about this are being ignored.

Communication has been extremely poor throughout. Based on my experience, the expectations set at the outset were completely different from the outcome. At a very difficult time for our family, this has left us feeling seriously let down and deeply betrayed.

No communication about item delivered damaged.

I use many auction houses worldwide. Recently, I used South Dorset Auctions for the first time, buying 1 item and requesting delivery of the item. The item arrived badly damaged, so I emailed the auction house along with photos. No reply. A couple of days later I emailed them again. No reply. I had previously not received any reply when I had asked for clarification of the courier being used so that I could track the delivery of the item. It might be that the email address that they give on their website is incorrect, although I would guess it is correct. I've since read the small print of their terms, and it seems like all goods are sent at the buyers responsibility. The courier they use, APC, have a whole list of items that they will not provide damage cover for, their list is just about any item that you can think of or would buy from auction! So, South Dorset Auctions, please 1) Reply to my emails 2) What is the point of offering post and packing if the items are not covered for loss or damages? You might just as well not offer the service, as it is it gives you and APC carte blanche to take no care at all when packing or delivering, knowing that the customer has no form of come back at all.
