I cannot emphasise enough how bad this company is, and I strongly advise people to avoid 'Southern Burners' at all costs. How they are still allowed to trade with the Oftec logo is beyond me. We have reported them and advise anyone else who has used them to get their boiler double checked.
This company had serviced our boiler for the past 2 years, with the most recent one carried out in late November. They changed the 'nozzle' (for additional £20!this part is only worth a few pounds and usually replaced free of charge) told us everything else was fine with the boiler after spending only 30/40 minutes at the property - A few days later the boiler stopped working completely. We contacted our insurance company who sent their own engineer to take a look, in order to determine whether the boiler was repairable. The engineer within 5 minutes told us that the boiler hadn't been serviced properly.and needed a load of parts replacing and that their was a black stain coming from the wall which 'could' be dangerous. We then contacted another boiler company we were recommended who came to take a look. They took the front off and found the 'seal' had worn away completely and inside was full of dirt. So we had no heating over Christmas and we have to find £5000 for a new boiler! When we believe our boiler could have run for years more if it had been serviced correctly. Southern Burners were also unresponsive when we politely explained the situation and only replied to emails when we got Oftec involved weeks later. They also refuse to supply us with a report of the work done.
