The home of community fundraising. Spacehive helps crowdfund local ideas and has raised over £35 million across the UK and Ireland. We help communities raise funds to improve their local areas: everything from spruced up playgrounds and new street markets, to city farms and learning hubs. Spacehive has the highest success rate of any crowdfunding platform at 85%. That means that nearly 9 out 10 community projects on Spacehive hit their fundraising target. Our platform is designed to meet the needs of today’s local changemakers and enable local transformation quickly. Our bespoke model is backed by a team of specialists who evaluate projects and match them to funds from companies, councils and foundations, enabling them to reach their crowdfunding goals faster and make a positive difference to society.

The system was easy to use and the Spacehive team were always really supportive.

The front end of Spacehive is excellent, with very clearly set out areas where people can read about the project, updates and so on.
The support was also really good, with prompt and personal responses that always answered the question.
It was however let down by the donor experience - numerous people contacted us to say they had problems donating and also problems signing up for Gift Aid. These were resolved, but we know some people were put off and failed to donate as a result.

This is the fifth Spacehive project run by Chester City Baths, and we have found the platform easy to use, and a very successful way to raise funds for our charity. It raises awareness to our swimmers, and links us directly to funding that we would otherwise not have been aware of.

This was completely oversold. We were told that Spacehive had funders ready and waiting to contribute to community projects but in fact it's just another crowd funding platform. The only difference is they make you jump through loads of hoops and checks before your project is allowed to go live.
Very disappointed.

Process is quite confusing to complete the application but help is good and the financial rewards significant. Not an easy process but worth it for the funding. Need to be aware of the fees which are significant.

It was great when mixed with funding from the council, However, I was suprised at how much was taken off by Spacehive.

Without Spacehive we would not have had the structures, expertise or support to raise funds for our charity project.
Their advice was excellent and always timely. I strongly recommend them to anyone wishing to crowdfund.

Spacehive has been a brilliant platform to work with. From start to finish, the team were responsive, patient, and incredibly supportive, especially when we were navigating incorporation and banking timelines alongside the campaign.
What stood out most was how human the process felt. Questions were answered clearly, solutions were offered rather than obstacles, and there was a real sense that they wanted the project to succeed.
I’d highly recommend Spacehive to anyone running a community-based or social impact project. It’s rare to find a platform that combines professionalism with genuine understanding.

Excellent support, helped to tweak the pitch, highlight the points which would make for a successful funding application, and provided advice and links every step of the way.

Great system with good support. Fees to Spacehive - a commercial organisation - are a little high when every penny counts for a small charitable organisation raising funds
to provide activities for their community

Dislike - company seemed very casual and online presentation poor.
You don’t seem to manage the council contribution. You dont seem to have list of potential corporate contributors.
Website front page should be updated to show latest projects.
Like - money
What to do different- Develop a plan. Other organisations have templates. Don’t start until contact list developed of potential contributors.
Only heard of potential funding opportunity with a few days to go. Resulted in rushed application.

We weren’t convinced that SpaceHive attracted any funders that we didn’t already know.
We also thought 7% was a high service charge & we couldn’t see how this cost was earned.

I'd really like to Highlight Samuel and Hugh from the spacehive team for being absolutely exceptional!
We are incredibly greatful for all the support, tips and help with our campaign 🙏.

Spacehive were excellant. I am not the most computer savvy person but this was met with kindness, meeting in person and regular emails. Without spacehive we may not have matched funded our project to move forward.

Despite ticking ‘keep what you raise’ rather than ‘all or nothing’, A pledge from our local council was withdrawn, meaning that our small charity lost out on more than £7000 which had been ‘awarded’ and an ‘won’ through the lengthy application process. This has been devastating for us.
