Think twice before renting from Spaces (Regus). Attempting to start a business lease at this location has been so frustrating, and so fraudulent. As entrepreneurs, we all know that basic expenses such as space rentals need to be clear, but it is not clear here, at all. While this is a really great location, in a lovely vintage building, the billing practices are truly medieval. 332 S. Michigan Ave used to be a WeWork building, but now it is owned by Regus; an entity that seems to have grown well beyond it's breeches, such that it cannot even manage basic billing practices with decorum. About six weeks ago, I signed a two year lease for a start date of March 1st, 2025 (big mistake). Less than one week after providing the two month retainer for over $900 to hold the office (they did not ask for 3 months, they asked for two), I was billed for a third month plus a late fee. I contested this, and their response was to tell me that my account was about to be sent to collections. What?! My leasing agent and the office manager attempted to intercede, and they both told me different things about whether that extra amount was actually due. The "helpdesk" on the Spaces website is total nonsense, and not helpful at all. It was confusing to the point of being blatantly fraudulent, and I am planning to contact the attorney general for Illinois. I did not agree to pay 3 month's rent to hold the little office, and contending with this level of fraud during the onset of the holiday season has been very disruptive. I have zero interest in developing my business in such an unethical and untrustworthy environment. In the lease they ask you to sign, they state they you cannot take them to court, and you cannot litigate; so, I guess I will just have to litigate via reviews, social media, and maybe, just maybe local officials will pay attention. Is it any wonder that entrepreneurship is not flourishing in the Windy City? Someone needs to start a class action law suit against Regus. During the tour, I noticed that the co-working kitchen was sloppy, messy, with a broken dish washer, and poorly maintained. However, I thought, hey, I am not here for kitchen space. But that on site mess should have been a warning of the much bigger financial mess that Regus likes to create for it's customers. This has been so, so stressful, and I cannot believe that just a few days after paying a retainer of nearly $1,000, I was threatened with collections. Regus must be a part of the globalist movement to kill small businesses. I bet Klaus Schwab owns IWG!
