I had an appointment

I had an appointment, sat and waited for 35 minutes - nobody came to tell me of a delay. I made an appointment for another day, and again was kept waiting. I was told at least another 15 minutes before I would be seen. I've gone to Boots!!!!

Running out of patience

Six months ago I decided to give Specsavers the opportunity to supply me with hearing aids with which I can hear. I have had ads for 15 yrs ,subsidised by the government, with which I've had no problems . I decided to up the ante and to contribute nearly $2000. After all this time trying different moulds and receivers, I am no closer to improved hearing and find they are no better than my previous aids. As of today, I am trying different moulds again. Was asked if I would consider Cochlear implants. I'm 87 yrs old and certainly do not need that. I cannot understand how the audiologist can't get it right with all the equipment available I am at present wearing my old aids as I find Specsavers do not stand up to the hype.

My husband bought eye-wateringly aids…

My husband bought eye-wateringly expensive hearing aids in the hope that they’d be more effective and not so unsightly. However, he has been back five times in two years because of faults, only to then have to wait months for the repairs with no contact/updates etc from Specsavers in the meantime. In the few years that he has had them, he has rarely been able to wear two at the same time due to faults, so he has no idea how good or otherwise they are. It doesn’t help that the aids always have to go “abroad” for the repairs. The audiologist only goes to the branch twice a week so it’s also difficult to get an appointment. It is an abysmal service and Specsavers seemingly does not care.

Blue tooth hearing aids Not worth considering

I purchased their blue tooth version over the ear medium sized hearing aids back in November 2024.
I have been back so many times with the whole system not connecting, or either ear not working . The technology is so hit and miss with either one or both aides not connecting. The Audiologist has replaced the wire 3 times as they were faulty but I don’t think I’ve gone more than a month without any issues. Not happy and they are not much better than my free NHS aides they replaced. I wouldn’t recommend buying them at over £2K

All seems well upfront. But…

All seems well upfront, but after a few years I was always, on every examination, being recommended new lenses, to make my eyesight even better. Each time I suffered blurred vision and unsteadiness.I persisted, having been told it will wear off in a few weeks. Driving was challenging!
Weeks later I would want a reassessment, twice I was told the new lenses were perhaps a little strong. New lenses were supplied close or identical to the previous pairs.
Did I really need new lenses, or a ploy to exploit an opportunity of increasing sales?
Last year I went nearby Optician, my eyes were fine, new lenses were not needed.
Lots of wasted time, reappointments, unnecessary travel and periods of risky driving previously, not this year…..
As a retired clinician I felt concerned, and more irritated by recalls for re-examination today.

I have lost one of my hearing aids and…

I have lost one of my hearing aids and paid for a new one just before Christmas. It is the attitude of some of the staff. I have tinnitus twenty four hours a day and hearing loss with anxiety and depression. I have been told when I complained about the quality well they are only nhs. I am 72years old and then to be told well you have only waited so many days and it could be a three week wait. The right ear is the one that I have had problems with as the tube on many occasions has bent and made it whistle through the day. Unless you have ears problems you cannot understand how I feel. The service I used to get through Chichester audiology was excellent. They closed and sent me to Specsavers. Train some of your staff to be more caring and listen when they are told about the bad reviews on line.

Poor after sales care

Getting hearing aids is fine but after sales care is terrible. They don't provide clear information for replacements like the domes and never have any in when you want replacements; or any information where you can buy them?

Don’t waste your money on their hearing…

Don’t waste your money on their hearing aids. I paid nearly £2,000 for a pair two years ago; they still don’t work properly and I’m still getting fobbed off by the staff at my local shop. They’re the single worst purchase I’ve ever made. I wish I’d read the reviews first.

I finally can hear.

After waiting months for hearing test at hospital, I went to Specsavers SUNDERLAND. I got an appointment within days. The audiologist was very helpful and professional. I got offered NHS hearing aids and I mentioned paying for some. She said no , try these first and see how you get on with them. No hard sell at all. I called in yesterday , no appointment needed and they changed the tubes as one had started buzzing. The lady I saw was also very good and explained about some of the hearing aids on offer, no hard sell again. I’m seriously thinking of buying some for convenience of rechargeable batteries etc. It’s wonderful to be able to hear again.

Great Customer support

I got my hearing aids from Specsavers in Bracknell & Wokingham. Sarah, I believe she's the Director who covers both shops has been amazing. I could not have asked for more from her, with helping me understand the best one's for me, to setting them up and following up appointments when I needed more help. I suffer with Meniere's which makes it very differcult to set the aids, but she has been very supportive.

Kam the audiologist is amazing! He is extremely professional, extremely knowledgeable and just so kind.
I had the pleasure of having my ears checked by him in Melton Mowbray Specsavers and I am blown away with the excellent service I received!
He also works in Stamford which is amazing as I live there.

Very disappointing & unprofessional …

I was advised to try Specsavers hearing care as I was interested on seeing and trying the latest Phonak infinioUltra spherei90. Although expensive I was willing to purchase these, but the whole experience was very disappointing, basically they had no samples, even to look at, try for comfort or effectiveness and was told I had to pay for these up front without even having seen these hearing aids. I was told that I had a 60 day, full money back refund if I didn’t want them, but they had none of the latest technology to view for comparison. In addition to this the hearing consultancy room was shabby and totally unprofessional. I will not waste my time going back to Specsavers audiology again.
