Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 63 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed dissatisfaction with the service, describing it as extremely poor and mismanaged. People frequently encountered issues with staff behavior, noting that employees were often unhelpful, indifferent, and unprofessional, particularly at airports. The customer service was consistently criticized for being unresponsive and difficult to reach, leading to frustration when trying to resolve issues. Reviewers also reported significant problems with the refund process, with many struggling to receive their money back even after weeks of follow-up. The booking process was another source of complaints, as some experienced website crashes and unprocessed bookings. While a small number of people mentioned positive experiences with specific flight attendants and complimentary services, the overwhelming sentiment points to chronic operational issues, including frequent delays and a lack of communication.

I had an issue with Spicejet in July

I had an issue with Spicejet in July. I reported a safety concern and sent a video. They investigated and contradicted what the video showed even though it was timestamped andbwas aboard the flight. They also offered no assistance when they cancelled a connecting flight and left passengers arrange their own way out of India as we had bo visas as transit passengers. They offered compensation which was less than the cost of international calls I made regarding the issue. I sent bank info...foolishly..and they did nothing with nothing deposited as promised. Not sure why they would do this but now advised to close.my account by my bank as they have all my info...would you trust them ?. Reported to Nodal Team, Appealatte Authority and Ajay Singh...no interest what so ever in customer care.

Public Appeal & Formal Record

Public Appeal & Formal Record: Request for Full Refund on Humanitarian Grounds
This post is to formally highlight the continued non-resolution of my refund grievance with SpiceJet, despite repeated follow-ups.
The travel was impacted due to the demise of my mother, a situation clearly falling under humanitarian grounds. All relevant details were shared with SpiceJet through official grievance channels. However, there was no response initially.
Only after posting earlier on LinkedIn did I receive a mere acknowledgement email from SpiceJet. Since then, there has been complete silence — no update, no decision, no timeline, and no resolution.
In cases involving bereavement, airlines are expected to act with sensitivity, responsibility, and fairness. An acknowledgement without action does not amount to grievance redressal.
I am once again requesting SpiceJet to:
Consider my case on humanitarian grounds
Process a full refund
Provide a clear written response with a defined timeline
Failing this, I will be compelled to pursue further escalation through appropriate regulatory and legal channels, which I would prefer to avoid.
This post is made respectfully and in good faith, solely seeking closure and resolution.

Awaiting immediate action.

Fly at your peril

Chronically mismanaged airline with perennial operational issues (delayed and cancelled flights). Largely indifferent and clueless employees make the experience even more 'memorable'. The so called value-for-money fares mean nothing if you can't get people from one destination to another in a safe and timely manner - isn't that why you exist? An absolute joke of an airline that really needs its licence revoked. Travellers would be better off without what can generously be described as a mediocre airline who is just in it for the money (any excuse to charge extra), customer experience be damned. AVOID this awful airline at all costs!

I have cancelled the flight from…

I have cancelled the flight from Ahmedabad to Mumbai on the 21th of November. And I was told I will be refunded within 2 weeks. It has been over 3 weeks, no refund. I have emailed the customer service but no reply. This is the worst airline I have experienced. Not sure why the government of India let this company run with so much negative feedback. It's all corruption.

Charged for duty free as part of Cabin luggage - absolutely horrendous experience

I recently flew from Dubai to Ahmedabad. At the boarding gate, I encountered something unusual: staff were strictly weighing all hand luggage, not checking dimensions, but the weight alone.
I placed my backpack on the scale, confident I was well within the 7kg limit. That's when the "fun" began. I was instructed to place my duty-free purchases on the scale as well. In all my years of traveling, this was a first.
I had purchased a couple of bottles of alcohol, adding about 3.5kg. Apparently, according to the airline's rules, everything carried in hand - handbag, purse, duty-free bag - counts toward the total 7kg allowance. This pushed me 1kg over the limit, resulting in an extra charge.
To add insult to injury, once boarding was complete, I realized the flight was barely 60% full. This wasn't about the practical implication of cabin weight or space; it was about the strict, unforgiving application of a rule for an additional fee.
I later confirmed on their website that duty-free items are indeed included in the limit. While I technically breached the rule, I find the airline's approach in this instance to be excessively revenue-focused, especially given the empty cabin. I don't mind paying when I'm clearly taking advantage, but this felt like an unnecessary squeeze for cash.

The airline service is the worst

The airline service is the worst. The website charged me for bags and seats, but didn’t acknowledge I did. Then at the airport charged me 12 times de price to check in an additional bag, and sent me in the last row. A total ripoff. The airline won’t pay me back or a knowledge my payment.

A pattern of repeated service failures by SpiceJet across multiple trips
I am writing this review to formally document several serious service issues I have experienced with SpiceJet on three separate occasions this year. These incidents reflect recurring problems with communication, punctuality, handling of passenger baggage, and overall service standards.

1. January Incident – Misleading aircraft information & poor service
In January 2024, I booked a SpiceJet flight online. However, upon reaching the airport, I discovered that the aircraft operating the flight was not SpiceJet but an entirely different carrier from the Czech Republic.
This information was never communicated at the time of booking or prior to travel.
The onboard experience was also extremely poor:
• Very limited legroom
• Unresponsive and unprofessional crew
• Repeated delays in basic service
• Had to request water at least five times, with a wait of around 20 minutes
Although this happened at the beginning of the year, I decided to give the airline another chance later in the year. Unfortunately, the next two flights made it clear that this was not an isolated issue.

2. November 21 (Dubai → Delhi) – Major delays & severe baggage mishandling
The second incident occurred on 21 November 2024, on my flight from Dubai to Delhi.
Scheduled departure: 22:20 PM
SMS delay: 23:55 PM
Further delay at the airport: 00:30 AM
Actual arrival in Delhi: ~05:20 AM (instead of 03:20 AM)
Baggage Mishandling
Upon arrival:
• We waited over 30 minutes at the belt
• A SpiceJet staff member then informed us that our bags were not loaded onto the aircraft
We were told the luggage would arrive on the next flight at approximately 12:45 PM, and that we would be contacted.
However:
• We received no call or update
• We had to return to the airport ourselves to follow up
• When the luggage finally arrived around 12:45 PM, it was torn, damaged, and had missing items
Despite the severity of the situation, no staff member took responsibility, provided an explanation, or offered assistance.
This caused significant inconvenience, stress, and additional travel.

3. December 3 (Delhi → Dubai) – No communication & nearly 3-hour delay
The third incident took place on 3 December 2024 on our return flight from Delhi to Dubai.
Scheduled departure: 19:20 PM
No prior notification of delay
While waiting at Gate 14A:
• Flight delayed to 20:20 PM
• Later moved to Gate 6
• Further delay announced
Actual departure: 22:10 PM (a delay of 2 hours and 50 minutes)
Actual arrival in Dubai: ~00:30 AM instead of the scheduled 22:05 PM
Throughout this process:
• Communication from staff was unclear and inconsistent
• No explanation for delays was provided
• No apology was offered
• The helpline number provided for complaints went unanswered despite multiple attempts
Conclusion
Across three separate and unrelated trips (January, November 21, and December 3), the following issues occurred repeatedly:
• Lack of communication and transparency
• Significant delays without explanation
• Inaccurate or misleading information about aircraft
• Mishandled, delayed, damaged, and missing luggage
• Inadequate customer support
• No accountability or follow-up from staff
These incidents collectively demonstrate a clear pattern of operational unreliability.
Given the financial, personal, and logistical impact of these events, I strongly believe that passengers deserve:
• A formal apology
• A clear explanation
• Compensation for delays, damaged luggage, and the inconvenience caused
I am sharing this review to raise awareness and to encourage the airline to reassess and improve the quality of its services.

Irresponsible behaviour

I travelled from DXB to IXM on 08/11/25. Upon reaching home I find my baggage had been tampered and my brand new boxed mobile phone had been stolen. I sent an email immediately and then went to airport and gave a written complaint. No response. I mailed the nodal officer and the apellate and there response was , I should ve complained it before leaving the airport so they cant do anything. If they valued the customers they should ve caught the theif and given me compensation. But they didnt. Irresponsible behaviour.

Complaint Regarding Unjustified Cabin Baggage Charges for Book and Laptop (3kg)

Subject: Complaint Regarding Unjustified Cabin Baggage Charges for Book and Laptop (3kg)
Dear SpiceJet Customer Support,
I am writing to formally raise a concern regarding an incident I experienced during my recent travel with SpiceJet. I was charged for carrying a book and a laptop in my hand baggage, which together weighed only 3 kilograms.
As per standard airline policies and my understanding of SpiceJet’s cabin baggage allowance, a laptop and a small personal item such as a book are typically permitted in addition to the main cabin baggage, especially when the combined weight is well within the allowed limit. In this case, the total weight of my book and laptop was merely 3 kg, which I believe should not have warranted any additional charge.
I kindly request a review of this charge and a clarification of your baggage policy regarding personal items such as laptops and books. If this charge was applied in error, I would appreciate a refund and assurance that such discrepancies will be avoided in the future.

I wish I could give negative marks

I wish I could give negative marks. They cancelled my flight by 8 hours at the eleventh hour. Didn’t bother to cooperate for getting accommodated in other airline as it was very urgent time sensitive travel. Bluntly told me to cancel and rebook with other airline which I did with almost a double cost of airfare ; for no fault of mine. Also for refund of my booking with them I had to keep running pillar to post for almost 3 weeks. Communication is extremely pathetic.

flight from bom to jai, and such a horrible service, cant believe, it was to take off at 3:30 and its 4:30- more than 1 hour sitting in the flight still. i mean what is this- the cabin crew says due to some pending documentation it is delayed
if you dont know how to manage basic schedules why do you have flights running
it shows and highlights the whole indian airways and is a v big shame and this is a frequent issue of spicejet in rcnt days, lot of the flights r gtting delayed or cancelled last moment
literally all passengers are irritated such a big waste of time. no one fly spicejet. airlines close counters if a passenger is delay by 1 minute & at same time wastes 1 precious hour of aprox 200 people. crazy and unbelievable

had oneTitle: Worst Passenger Experience — Delayed Flight & No Ground Support of the most frustrating…

had one of the most frustrating experiences with SpiceJet. My flight SG 442 (PNR: HHB4VN) from Varanasi to Ahmedabad was delayed due to "operational reasons," and even after such inconvenience, the SpiceJet counter at the airport was not open.
Passengers were left completely helpless, with no staff, no guidance, and no proper communication. For an airline that claims to care about its customers, this level of irresponsibility and mismanagement is unacceptable.
If a flight is delayed, at least have your team present to assist passengers — that’s the minimum expectation. SpiceJet seriously needs to rethink its customer service and operational reliability.
Extremely disappointed. Never expected such poor coordination from a national carrier.

Extremely Disappointed – Only ₹500 Compensation for Irreparable Baggage Damage

I had an extremely disappointing experience with SpiceJet on flight SG 914 (PNR: GJIL4R) from Delhi to Bagdogra. My checked-in American Tourister suitcase was completely damaged beyond repair — the zip was broken, making the bag unusable.

Despite providing all supporting evidence (official damage report, clear photos, and proof of current market value ₹6,200), SpiceJet repeatedly refused to revise their compensation or offer a fair calculation. Instead, all I received was a token apology and ₹500 compensation, which is a fraction of the real loss.

I escalated my complaint through every possible channel: SpiceJet Customer Relations, nodal and appellate officers, DGCA, AirSewa, Airports Authority of India, and the National Consumer Helpline. Shockingly, no agency really helped — they just kept forwarding my grievance back to the airline or sent automated responses.

This lack of accountability and refusal to address genuine consumer loss shows how large companies can rip off everyday travelers and ignore their concerns. I urge others to take extra caution before trusting SpiceJet with their valuables and urge authorities to step up enforcement for consumer rights in India.

Flight Delay Turned Journey Into a Nightmare

Flight SG6 (Dubai–Delhi, 25 June 2025) was delayed 7+ hours causing me to miss confirmed international connections. Despite informing staff on time, no alternate travel was arranged. I had to travel alone on a direct Dubai–SGN–PQC route, incurring ~INR 83,000 extra. Upon complaining, SpiceJet refunded base fare to my travel agency without consent and denied compensation for losses. Complaints were prematurely closed, disabling the reopen option. Extremely poor service and grievance handling.

Terrible

My SpiceJet flight from Dubai to Kochi was, without a doubt, the most frustrating and poorly managed air travel experience I have ever had. The entire journey was defined by a complete lack of communication and constant inconvenience.

The troubles started early when our flight was initially canceled and then rescheduled to depart at the very end of the day.

The situation only worsened at the gate. We were subjected to an unannounced hand luggage check during boarding. Worse yet, there was a second, surprise check just before stepping onto the aircraft, where we were abruptly told our carry-on bags would be forcibly taken and placed in the cargo hold. This was not stated anywhere during booking, online check-in, or at the counter. This lack of prior notification is unacceptable, especially when passengers carry essentials, medicines, or valuables in their hand luggage.

After all that chaos, the flight departed over an hour late from its already delayed time. To top it all off, the cabin crew's attitude was poor. I witnessed air hostesses being rude to several passengers, which made an already stressful environment even more unpleasant.

I will not be booking with SpiceJet again and cannot recommend them to anyone flying this route.
