Avoid at all cost

The car this company sold for almost £7000 with a full MOT has been nothing but a money pit.
It's needed all new tyres as they were all cracked and apparently the original ones that came with the car. It's needed new brake discs and pads as they were complely worn down to an unsafe level plus a snapped wishbone. When this work was being done it was discovered it needed a whole new subframe as it was completely corroded to the point it was no longer solid metal, it just crumbled. The mechanic said it was the worst he had ever seen and must of been kept of wet grass or something for months to get in that state. It's undriveable without us getting all this expensive work done now whilst still paying car payments off. It also has badly rusted drum brakes so God knows what else they will find when the subframe gets replaced. Absolutely avoid this company that will sell anything for Profit. I wonder how on earth it passed an MOT only 5 months ago as this damage has not just appeared?
This is my 20 year daughters 1st car after passing her test in November at at this point unsure whether to pay out again or just scrap it and loose 7 grand.
This company clearly put profit above anything else and the MOT is questionable.

Bought a Hyundai Santa Fe from spirit…

Bought a Hyundai Santa Fe from spirit motor company in November 2025. Had the car 10 months covered 3000 miles then to have the engine seize on us. The warranty company they gave us have denied any correspondence with them for a replacement engine and new turbo so it has cost us £5000 for a replacement engine and new turbo.
I would strongly advise not to buy a car from these people..

⭐ 1 Star – Avoid at all costs

I bought a Hyundai Santa Fe from Spirit Motor Group in January and paid an extra £399 for a 3-month warranty.

Within a week, the car started making a loud squealing noise, which sounded like an issue with the fan belt. I contacted them and arranged for it to be looked at. After rescheduling, they told me to take it to a local garage in Wigan for inspection.

The garage found multiple serious issues:
• Fan belt needs replacing
• Turbo failing and needs replacing
• Fuel sensor fault

Total repair cost is around £1,200.

When I went back to Spirit Motor Group, they told me to contact their warranty provider. However, when I spoke to the warranty company, they had no record of my vehicle at all. This was already March—around 6 weeks after purchase.

It turns out Spirit Motor Group had taken my £399 but had not even activated the warranty.

After chasing, they eventually set it up, but the policy only covered up to £500—nowhere near the repair costs. The warranty company refused to pay, and when I went back to Spirit Motor Group, they simply said they would not help because it’s a second-hand car.

I am now in contact with Trading Standards and awaiting a response.

Very disappointed with the service and how this has been handled. I would strongly advise others to be cautious.

After 3 weeks of leaving a deposit of…

After 3 weeks of leaving a deposit of £500 with them. The day i eventually got the car, the car was was beeping a warning "service due", took it back to them, instead of servicing car they adjusted and cleared off the warning.
After 3 weeks of purchase, weather was quite warm i switched on car A/C but it refused to work, I called in i was told I should take car to garage to refill a/c gas, is that supposed to be my responsibility within 3 weeks of purchasing the car? I rang Sani 3 times the manager to inform him of this but he wouldn't answer my call.
I observe they dont do basic necessary works on car i.e service car and proper checks before selling their cars to customers except you are lucky that the car you bought from them was in a very good condition before leaving the previous owner.

Horrendous Service

Horrendous Service, if you want a proper back street garage that should be on rogue traders then this is your place. Pay a deposit at your peril, no chance of getting it back or a phone call for that matter, stay away.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!! STAY. AWAY.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! STAY AWAY! They sell cars that are NOT roadworthy and are dangerous... Check other reviews and you'll see they do NOT refund - not even deposits when they should and agreed with potential buyer. I wouldn't trust the reviews that compliment this company AT ALL! They don't even deserve ONE star but it's the minimum that can be given in order to review. Have also been known to threaten violence towards people who deserve and are legally entitled to a refund. AVOID AND STAY AWAY! Don't lose your money and end up with a dangerous, faulty car from these conmen!!!

AVOID

AVOID! Please read all reviews before considering buying a car from spirit motors, I wish I had. This is by far the worst company I've ever had to deal with, also only pay a deposit if you are 100% sure you want to buy from here because they refuse to give it you back even though it states it's refundable. I bought a car 14 days ago and I've had to pay 280 already to get the car to a suitable standard for my 18 year old son to drive

CON GARAGE DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM THEM.

Well, I am back again after many reviews. I purchased a car from this company in January 2025 on finance, I was sold the most bodged vehicle ever! It is now just over a year down the line and the car is sat in a local garage with a blown head gasket and not even worth repairing, this comes after repairs of £500 in December from the MOT. Spirit are complete cowboys and a con DO NOT PURCHASE A CAR FROM HERE. Luckily I have all evidence needed including text messages from the owner which I’m sure he won’t want sharing. I won’t let this go and hopefully the company won’t be able to trade for much longer.

I will be expecting threatening calls again from the owner after posting this review but enough is enough, they need to be held accountable.

We strongly refute the allegations made in your recent posts. The claims you have published are false, defamatory and extremely damaging to our business, our reputation, and our staff. Accusations such as “scammers”, “con garage”, selling unroadworthy vehicles, falsifying MOTs and carrying out unsafe repairs are very serious statements, and we categorically deny them.

We are particularly concerned by the repeated posting of multiple negative reviews, as well as threats to contact media outlets and share private communications. Posting three separate reviews containing the same allegations goes beyond feedback and enters into targeted harassment.

We will not engage in a public back-and-forth regarding individual case details; however, we are fully confident in our documentation and processes. If you wish to pursue a formal complaint, we encourage you to do so through the appropriate legal or regulatory channels where all evidence can be reviewed properly and impartially.

We remain committed to operating transparently and professionally and will continue to support our customers within the terms agreed at point of sale.
