Disappointed and Disillusioned
My experience with Stacked Studio was incredibly disappointing. As a newly established brand, I turned to them for assistance with production and offshore manufacturing challenges. Initially, Lindsay seemed confident that they could help, suggesting a strategy session with her business partner, Christina. However, the warning signs began when they proposed meeting at a café instead of an office.
During the session, the focus was solely on my brand's pain points and how Stacked Studio could assist. They followed up with a contract offering support in setting up a new factory, claiming they were confident in their ability to benefit my brand. But the contract was alarmingly vague and, according to legal advice, basically worthless. It failed to clearly outline the services offered, charging anything outside the project scope at an hourly rate. Furthermore, it included limited liability clauses that absolved them of responsibility for the quality and outcome of their services.
According to the advice I received, Stacked Studio could potentially lead me astray and leave me bearing the consequences. They could provide a list of factories, make introductions without ensuring the right match, and then charge me exorbitant fees. They could cause me to lose a substantial amount of money and simply shrug off any responsibility. Signing their contract was strongly discouraged, but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt due to their status as a new business.
However, when I reached out for a more detailed scope, I received an email from Lindsay stating that they lacked the necessary capabilities for my project to succeed. This was a stark contradiction to their previous promises. I questioned why they had offered their services and even sent a contract if they weren't confident in their abilities. Their response only added to the disappointment, claiming that the strategy session was meant to provide immediate value regardless of collaboration. Yet, the session was solely focused on collaboration, rendering it useless.
I am relieved that I didn't waste more time and resources on Stacked Studio and avoided a potentially harmful partnership. This experience has made me even more cautious in this industry. The advice I received thankfully helped me avoid a fruitless and damaging situation.
