Stansted plumbs new depths of utter sh1te. If you don’t know your way round, it’s a nightmare.
If you don’t have fast track then you’ll be a queue for aeons. If you don’t like walking, you’ll be disappointed. If you want anywhere quiet - sorry!
Basically it’s a poorly run excuse for an airport that is 100% focused on the £££ and has zero interest in customers. The one positive used to be on arrival from inside the U.K. you could walk out of the place or walk thru to your connection. Clearly that was too much like useful. So now you’ll be herded into a bus and dropped a good 5 mins walk from no where. Just in case !!
Drop off charge
Drop off charge. Another reason to loathe UK and capitalism
Shocking airport
Shocking airport. Over an hour to get through security and no connecting flights. Have to leave building on arrival from Edinburgh where I had cleared security in less than 5 minutes and had been declared safe to travel. No way of getting to my connecting flight to Murcia without re-doing security. Massively overcrowded and very poor service from the airport staff.
This airport is so bad
This airport is so bad, i remember i was alone some meters away from my parents. Then this black security women came really mad at me and scolded me. First of all the airport is too packed, second of all security and sitting places is nowhere. This airport is jus hell but yeah
Awful …
Flew from Stansted Airport and found the staff very rude and unhelpful. Long delays getting through security. The staff were in no rush to help get people through even some people were going to miss their flight. No pleasantries from security staff although the staff at duty free were lovely.
The airport is dirty and badly signposted.
Would not fly in or out of here again.
Would advise against using this airport if possible.
I am almost sure there is a health and…
I am almost sure there is a health and safety issue here, as the amount of people in such a confined area for a protracted period of time is tantamount to reckless endangerment.
Also I would not like to rely on the competence of staff in an emergency based on todays observation.
security screening machines same rules
So new security screening machines, same 100ml rules , fast track took one hour, as they figure out how to use the machines which during my sojourn crashed , lengthening an already abysmal experience
What a mess
What a mess. I arrived at Stansted two hours before my flight, as instructed, and the security area was absolute chaos. The queue was enormous — not because of passenger volume, but because several security lanes were closed. People were waiting for over an hour, with no clear communication or urgency from staff. To make matters worse, some of the security personnel were noticeably rude and dismissive. A really poor experience overall.
Now one of the worst uk airports
Now one of the worst uk airports. Security was unexceptionable slow with very long queue. Security staff were rude and obnoxious and when you land as a domestic arrival you are now herded on to busses like cattle, taken to a small arrival area with uncovered walkways, leaving you soaked if it raining. A terrible experience that won’t be repeated. Luton airport in future
1 hour of queues for security
1 hour of queues for security, staff shrugging shoulders, broken lighting, dark departure gates, dirty floors, information screens not working or displaying the wrong information. Thought we caught Stansted on a bad day, but it looks like this is business as usual at Stansted.
Rude and petulant security staff
Rude and petulant security staff. Got shouted at by an angry girl for pushing my own tray onto the conveyor, imagine…she lifted it off, made me return before she put it back on again. Very strange people
Fantastic experience
My partner and I need assistance and the service we received was second to none, unfortunately cannot remember the guys name who assisted. The new walk through baggage control superb, the “ tractor “ to the aircraft first class. ALL the staff we encountered were courteous to us both. The new updated, and apparently there’s more to come was a vast improvement from the “ old” airport 10/10 rating
One of the UK's worst airports
One of the UK's worst airports, avoid if you can.
Rude and obnoxious security staff
Rude and obnoxious security staff. Lack of seats and chargers. Overall a very poor customer experience
Rude staff
The staff was incredibly rude and yelled at us for not understanding their sped-up british english. Ruined the jurney!
Stansted Airport is wonderful but be careful who you use
I love using Stansted Airport and stay overnight at the Radisson using Holiday Extras for Meet and Greet. However, this will be the last time I use Holiday Extras as owing to their website not recognising my email address, even though I have used them for years, I was charged twice for a booking next March 2026. Although they have informed me 3 times my refund is on its way they now say the booking has expired. That is because they are looking at an old booking when the one they charged me twice for is not until March 26! They have done nothing but delay everything they can, meanwhile I am out of pocket £268:28. You need some advice? Think twice about
HOLIDAY EXTRAS

Neglected, tired & grubby.
You only need to do the long walk from the blue car park to see they like to cut corners at Stansted airport. Half arsed covered walkways with sporadic trolleys attached to the supports that doesn't even extend all the way. Terrible lighting of signage and many lights out of use in this dingy lit entrance.. they do like cutting corners.
It doesn't take much to let you know its a half arsed airport when the ceiling is covered in decades worth of filth and detritus and it's dark and gloomy.
Security was fast but the duty free trail and lack of seating airside shows it's greed central.
The airport piers are dated and old. With bent ceiling tiles and loos with mops and devices to capture the leaking toilets and sinks.
This airport wants to be a good airport but it's all about money by the owners.
I wanted to use the free dropoff
I wanted to use the free dropoff. It is on the website but there is no link to it and, other than saying it is in the mid-stay terminal, there are no details of how to use it. It just takes you to an area where you have to pay.
The fee of £7 at the airport is large so I do not want to use it.
Waiting in security for 2hrs+ almost missing my flight
Waiting in security for 2hrs+ this evening due to slow security and badly managed logistics. This airport should be studied in schools on how not to run security queues.
The entire area after the boardingpass scanners was completely full and overcrowded. What does Stansted do? They close the three open security lanes, keeping only two. When asking the staff how long time he thought it would take the response was ”around 40 min”. Good thing our flight was not leaving for another 2hrs and 15 minutes then… or so we thought, because getting through security and waiting in line took 2hrs and 5 minutes (!) and after going through the body scanners there was a havoc with the X-ray machines making ALL bags go to the ”extra assessment” line.
We had to run through the airport (which is built like a track and field course meeting a mirror-funny-house, with glass walls and maze-like halls) and arrived just in time with a terrible dry cough and sweat drenched to the core. The lady at the gate looked at those of us who managed and made EVERYONE push their hand luggage bags in the Ryanair ”bag-check” before boarding. I wonder how many of my fellow passengers this night that had to sleep on the airport…
I’ve travelled with work in Europe and USA for the past 12 years and seen my fair share of dubious airports and frustrating behavior. This is the worst airport experience in my life. Close it up, or staff up and enable your staff (!) the airport is obviously not fit for purpose.
Rip Off Stansted Airport Parking
The parking fees at this airport are outrageous. Not even Heathrow and Gatwick fees for short stay parking are this high. £18.00 for 1 hr. Don't park in the Blue Car park, it's the furthest one away from where you land!
