Stena delivered what it promised

Stena delivered what it promised, a safe and comfortable crossing.

What really would improve the trip would be to have a nice restaurant. The food in the current one is ok but could be better and the experience feels more like eating in a canteen where sometimes one would like to eat in a restaurant.

The ferries themselves are good

The ferries themselves are good, with friendly staff and acceptable food. However, a major issue is that truck drivers and other workers often sleep in the seating areas, sometimes lying across multiple chairs and taking up two or more seats. They also don’t always appear very clean, which creates an unpleasant atmosphere during the trip. Unfortunately, the Stena Line crew does little to encourage them to move to a cabin.

Overnight with the dog!

We travelled overnight on the ferry, which we always enjoy and starts the holiday off as soon as you board the ferry. It is nice to be able to have a drink in the bar before going to bed. The room was clean and tidy. It worked well with our dog being in the kennel. The kennels were clean and outside the outside 'exercise' area.

1st time since childhood

1st time since childhood — and without the luxury of getting seasick — I booked last minute and travelled from Hoek van Holland to Harrwich. Very smooth. Just the “lounge” upgrade was very underwhelming. Not worth a paid upgrade at all. Overall great staff and great experience. Connecting public transport is outstanding.

it was good

it was good, food water and coffee is a bit expensive.
a gym would be a nice addition on the ferry, (at least cardio machines), for other entertainment provide e.g. Playstations etc.

Boarding Time

My wife is an invalid. We request to be met at a lift with a wheelchair. This arrangement always works very well.
On this journey we had to wait a long time before boarding and in the morning we had to wait a long time to get off the boat.
I have no idea what caused these delays.

I want to comment on the pet cabins

I want to comment on the pet cabins. I am sure many people have reservations about them not being a good cabin, Clean, etc. Let me assure you as having traveled over and back from Hoek can Holland in a pet cabins, they are just like other cabins but in a selected area. Are mid ship and very clean.

Pleasant trip, comfortable, but leave us to sleep on the sofa

Hi! Overall very pleasant trip. Nice staff at checkin and onboard, clean, comfortable and loads of space. Easy with the train connections and clear where to go and what to do. Only slight issue was that we were hassled to not sleep on the sofa. I get it: stena have cabins on which they make money…but people also don’t have loads of money. If it’s nowhere near busy, as it was on this day, I don’t really see why stena care that people are sleeping on the sofas. No stranger is going to want to sit next to you when there’s choice of chairs elsewhere. It just seems a bit petty and mean to wake someone up and tell them off for lying down on a sofa and sleeping.

Very smooth and easy to embark and…

Very smooth and easy to embark and disembark. Extremely friendly and polite staff. Comfortable chairs and multiple screens showing different sports or news channels to help pass the time.

All is shity

The fold-out seats are a rip-off and a complete bummer. The price for a seat is the same as for a car. If you want a cabin, the car is also more expensive. The lights in the seating areas can't be turned off. There are no curtains, and everyone walks past. It's impossible to sleep. Not like at DFDS. They have much better conditions. The prices are outrageous. I don't recommend it.

Compared to other forms of travel

Compared to other forms of travel - its just so enjoyable, warm welcome, easy boarding. The boats seem to be upgraded food and service is excellent, even the basic Huts are very comfortable.

Easier journey than tunnel

quick check-in, rooms were great. I used to use tunnel, but since they changed their terms, its less stressful and easier to take the ferry. i work from the cabin with a laptop during the day, well worth upgrading the room. Really nice crossing

Best crossing experiance

Very comfortable, clean with very friendly crew.
Since the refurbish, the restaurant food has been excelent.

Smooth checkin and rooms were well…

Smooth checkin and rooms were well maintained. Well on time and good entertainment available for kids. But earlier we had a theater where movies use to be there, that was fun but not sure why that was removed.

Convenience

I enjoy traveling this way with my car and have done for the past 22 years as Hoek van holland and harwich are very convenient for the place I live and the place I visit
