EXCELLENT

Booked train and 3 nights in The Doubletrees hotel at Greenwich, Superbreak were very helpful in all aspects of the travel and hotel arrangements. I will use this company again and will recommend them to family and friends.

Overpriced and rubbish

Good afternoon

I am very discussed with our break. The first night what lovely, but as soon as we for to the novetel hotel it went down hill. Firstly, the new years Eve dinner was awful. There was a tiny buffet for too many people. They kept running out of everything, including plates and cutlery. We was waiting around for ages before we were given more. On top of that, the raw steak on the salad was still frozen. My partner had ate some and was very ill the next day which ruined his last day. Secondly, we were told we had to check out of our room at 10:30 even though the booking stated 11:00am. To have to wait 45 minutes for our coach to arrive. Then, we was taken to the town centre AGAIN, after already spending all day and night there on new years eve. We was very angry as since it was new years say and a Sunday, everywhere apart from restaurants were closed. We spent the next 3 hours in subway and a coffee shop. Great way to spend your last day....not only that, but my partner was very sick (from the food) and he was forced to walk around an empty town in freezing cold weather as we was told we were unable to stay on the coach until 3pm. His last nught resorted to him sleeping as soon as we checked in on the boat. So his last night was also ruined. There was 4 of us on this break and each of us are very disappointed. We are not the only people who was angry with this as many had kicked off in the hotel regarding service. We felt like we were fobbed of and we was not important now we payed already. I will never be returning on a super break trip in the future. Each of us payed £279 each and we only got half the service. Absolute rubbish company.

A Stressful Experience

Way back in August 2016 I booked a 2 night hotel package for Christmas for one person through superbreak.com. I wanted a ground floor room (and knew the hotel had some) as there was no lift and I have mobility problems. Superbreak told me that no single ground floor rooms were available at that time (which I was surprised about so early in the year), so reluctantly I agreed to have one on the first floor.

As time went on, my mobility problems have increased and I got more worried about the stairs. Assuming I could phone and cancel with Superbreak and just lose my deposit, I phoned and was told that I couldn't do this as Christmas in an "event" and that cancellations aren't covered by the usual rules for "events" and that it says that in the terms and conditions. I was also told that it had been pointed out to me when I made the booking - it wasn't! Also I didn't think Christmas was "an event" and this particular hotel package isn't even listed as one of their "themed" Christmas events on the website, even though I know they are still taking bookings for it..

So I was left with the option of cancelling but still paying the full amount, or paying the full amount and going. Which one would I choose - the latter of course. However a couple of weeks ago I was really panicking at the thought of the room being upstairs, so rang superbreak and asked them to phone the hotel and ask if there had been any cancellations of a ground floor room. The woman I spoke to seemed friendly and helpful, went off the phone for a while, then returned to say that unfortunately the hotel still had no ground floor rooms, but she would ring them every week to make sure.

Still very anxious and really no longer trusting superbreak, I decided to phone the hotel myself today, two weeks before Christmas. Lo and behold, they do still have some single ground floor rooms available and not only that, they have always had them available since August (i.e.not cancellations). I was speechless, but so delighted that they could change my reservation, which they did.

I will never use superbreak again. They lie for no apparent reason, have unreasonable terms and conditions and caused this 70 yr old lady a lot of unnecessary stress. Now I am looking forward to Christmas, but no thanks to them!

Poor Customer Service

We booked a break for our 20th anniversary and found ourselves sat next to 6 drunken football fans at 9.00 am. We had paid an extra £100 to go first class. I emailed to express our views about the experience, and waited 26 days for them to reply saying that they were unable to "control" any situation that we might encounter on board. I was very disappointed at this. They have since emailed to say that they will pass this onto Virgin. Could they not have done this in the first place? Their "reply" could have been sent out in 48 hours, as opposed to nearly 4 weeks. In future I will book all my trips direct.

short break to Edinburgh

We had a fantastic break in Edinburgh We have booked several times with Superbreak and have always found them to be excellent good value and efficient . Our only concern this time was the first class virgin train experience on the way back from Edinburgh it was much longer than the rail journey to Edinburgh the train was not clean toilet was disgusting and did not flush there was not even any water to wash your hands in . This was not worth the cost of a first class ticket.

Ripped off

Given wrong information and charged a ridiculously inflated price for theatre tickets. Their response blame the travel agent and defend their thievery saying everyone charges a huge markup! Avoid booking with them just interested in making a massive profit at your expense

Hotel with a pool- but not allowed to use it

Have booked my only 2 day rest bite break with Superbreak only to arrive at the hotel to be told we have to pay extra for the pool. £15 a go & then you have to 'book in'! Not only can i not afford this additional hidden charge it has totally ruined any opportunity I had to get the much needed break I needed. Sitting here in a hotel room on a Saturday morning writing THIS instead of swimming in the forbidden pool.
Customer services are useless. They told me it was a "room only basis" however it does not stipulate this on the booking confirmation. Have put a complaint in & will go to the Consumer Association if I have to.
I have another one booked with superbreak with my disabled son & now I'm totally dreading it.
Thanks for totally ruining my holiday Superbreak.

Conned

Very very poor experience with a 2 nights and dinner Deal. What is described on SuperBreak is not what you get when you arrive. Even the pictures are miss-leading.

After returning, tried to leave a review but they don't allow it. Not sure where the reviews on the site come from.

Won't be using again.

EDIT: I emailed superbreak on returning. I am still awaiting a reply over a month later.

CONNED

I have recently had the misfortune of booking a 2 night break with superbreaks. Firstly I had to email them twice for them to send me my booking confirmation and also on their site it states that if trip booked by 31st of march you would receive a £30 voucher off your next trip. Voucher didn't arrive so I emailed their customer service department to be told that because I booked through NHS site which directed me directly through to superbreaks that I did not qualify and that I had already received a discount which is not true because I had already checked superbreaks site first and the price came out exactly the same at time of booking. I have read their terms and conditions and as usual they are very vague.

RUDE CONDUCT AND UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR

I have not come across a bad service in along time and to come across this experience with Super breaks is a shame, A family hotel break is what we expected but to be told they do not have the room we request or to come up with another hotel price for our family this weekend we are not going to have the break needed for our family. My daughter suffers a long term illness and this is the kind of experience we get from Super breaks there is another travel agent you also shuld be aware of that super breaks connects with is TRAVEL BY INSPIRE they are worse off with rude conduct too. Re think about booking with super breaks and I will NOT be booking with this company again

Hi Barry, thanks for your review. Sorry there has been some confusion about what was included in your booking. We sell lots of hotel deals, some include dinner on the first night of your stay, which is always included in the title of the deal online, but not all of them do. Sorry this wasn't clearer when you made your reservation. Hope you had an enjoyable break, Kirstie @ SuperBreak

Disappointing service.

Booked a 4-day Minibreak to Bruges saying at the Portinari. When we arrived the receptionist told us that they had no knowledge of our booking and there were no rooms available. She was most unwelcoming and said that this was just the latest in mismanagement by Superbreak. We were told to wait while other Superbreak guests were checked in and guests were checked out. I had to insist she attended to our problem and suddenly a room became available after she contacted Superbreak, apparently after two guests "had to leave in an emergency". Superbreak's inefficiency led to a very stressful start to our trip and we felt used by the hotel to resolve the receptionist's problem with them.
I have written to Superbreak but they seem unwilling to reply.

Caution - Mis-sold theatre and hotel deal.

We don't often go to the theatre and as we are taking our 5 year old wanted to have the best experience possible. We selected what was advertised as "Top Price Tickets" on Superbreak as part of a 'deal'. When our tickets arrived they were far from top price tickets - with the face value representing less than half of the actual top price tickets at the theatre. When we looked at the price of the tickets and then the cost of the hotel directly and not through the company this actually came to £50 less than the Superbreak cost. This is obviously not a deal at all. We did research before we took the deal, looking at the top price tickets at the theatre itself and then thinking that with the hotel stay it worked out a good deal and not unrealistic it wasn't a huge saving.
They would not change the tickets for better available seats when asked or offer a refund. We would rather have paid more for better seats but now we are stuck with third best seats. If we could be bothered we'd go to trading standards and complain.
*The reply below from SuperBreak was unfortunately a waste of time. We were simply told that we should have rang up to check exactly which seats we were allocated. meaning we shouldn't have presumed "top price tickets" actually meant top price tickets.

Very good, trains not the cheapest though

Have to say Superbreak is very good! Booking is quick and easy although the new Internet Explorer doesn't seem to like it. But thats not there fault, "cough 'Microsoft' cough".
The only thing I will say is if you use them for train tickets as well they aren't very competitive as going to the operators website. They were quoting £65 for a return trip to Londing 1st class each where as going direct I got the same tickets for £70 for both people. £50 is quite a difference. Other than that they were great

Thanks for your review Gareth. With our train tickets you can save up to 50% on return rail, however it may be that sometimes direct sites have their own promotions going on. We hope you enjoyed your London break! Sarah@SuperBreak
