I am writing this review regarding my son's rental through Auto Europe réf 342597245
At the Surprice rent car desk in Sarenda , the SurPrice agent refused his payment card under the classic pretext that it was a "debit card", refusing to even try it in the machine. My son offered to pay the deposit in cash, but he refused. He was forced to pay an extra €320 for local insurance on the spot, or he wouldn't get the car.
This is a not honest practice to extort money from young tourists. This is not legal . I expect Auto Europe to investigate this partner and provide a refund. My son is still waiting to be refund ! Avoid SurPrice !

It was perfectly fine. We were picked up, left the airport within 5 minutes, 5 minutes later we arrived at the car hire place. The pick up process was smooth but REMEMBER they don't accept AmEx! Nikos the driver was very friendly, spoke perfect English and offered great advice about local surroundings. The car was an automatic Peugeot 308 which was fine for us.

The Surprice car hire agency at Naples Airport won’t accept my credit card for the security deposit.
They won’t give me the car unless I buy their insurance package for 40 euros a day. I refuse, but I’m left without a car. I’d like to point out that my credit card is a physical card issued by Italy’s second-largest banking group; it uses the Mastercard network, but according to Surprice it’s a ‘DIGITAL’ card and therefore unsuitable for paying their deposit. After reading the reviews (I should have done so earlier), I realised that mine was not an isolated case but a predatory business strategy by the company, which unscrupulously aims to increase its profits. Obviously, this is at the expense of customers.

Very bad experience with SurPrice Budapest/Hungary Airport. - dishonests, made up penalties/charges when returning the car, also I was given a car from lower category.
Read the review below carefully, and all the reviews for SurPrice Hungary, all have 1 start, SurPrice head office should investigate this branch.
Booked a Ford Focus Estate or similar but received a much smaller Renault Clio, they claimed that a focus and clio was the same size, which is obviously incorrect.
They didn’t record any of the scratches, it was many, I pushed to record that, RED FLAG.
First a cleaning fee: They said the car has to be washed fully just before returning it, due to the red fald above, I hovered the car and was very clean, they ask me for the receipt of the watch, I challenged that as it wasn't in the contract and took photos as evidence it was clean. The spend like 20 minutes try to find a scrat that wasn't recorded in the inventory ( that I pushed to record at collection, the makeup a scratch and charge €500, I complained and the person was making that up, as I couldn't spend too much as I would lose the flight, I had no choice than to pay.
I took videos and photos as evidence to create a formal complaint.
Carefull, it seems the business there is based on the make up penalties, the staff might get commission for that

We all know these tinpot companies make their money on the insurance and not on the actual car rental, but do they need to go so far? Renting a car is becoming as stressful as moving house.
In-between interrupting me and barking at 2 young children jumping around the office, the guy behind the counter tried everything to give me the hard sell on insurance or moan about the documentation (the usual lines - 'the generic insurance often doesn't pay out', etc. etc... Maybe it can frighten the American tourist, but not the seasoned car renter).
He told me that the booking from Kayak hadn't got to him so there's nothing he could do. The connection between third-party brokers and the actual car rental company is shambolic.
No wonder the place was empty. The customer is always wrong. Avoid unless you want a grumpy, tiresome and tiring insurance spiel.
At the end of the day, if you don't take their 'full coverage' (which increases the cost by up to 400% or even more), they are NOT interested in your custom and will do everything NOT to give you the car you have booked (irrespective of where you have travelled to their office from - shocking service).
Luckily, I was from the same city. I feel very sorry for people flying in and expecting to get their holiday or visit to the UK off to a nice start.
TO THE MANAGEMENT: SOLVE THE APPALLING LACK OF COHERENCE BETWEEN THE THIRD-PARTY ONLINE COMPANIES WHICH MOST PEOPLE USE TO BOOK THEIR VEHICLE AND YOURSELVES. At the moment, it's a black hole into which many customers are clearly falling and having their day - for some possibly many days - ruined.

Hired a car from Surprise Manchester Airport for 24 hours. There were no issues with the car, agreed and signed by Surprice. Thirty days later I am still waiting for the return of £400 they put on hold on my account.
