Great Snowmobile Adventure

Picked up from my accommodation band on time, and driven to the Svalbard Adventures HQ for a safety briefing. It wasn’t rushed and our two guides Mikial and Jon were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and everything as explained really well. Everyone was given boots, snow suit, mitts, balaclava and helmets etc. all included.
Once outside we were introduced to the snowmobiles and the instructions / routines were easy to understand even for someone that had never used one before. (The closest I’ve got was driving the ATVs with Svalbard Adventures in the summer)
We set off into the beautiful arctic landscape, stopping regularly for breaks to take in the scenery, before making out way to a phenomenal viewpoint some 35Km away. We had a lunch made up of freeze dried survival packs, and hot drinks which was fun.
The snowmobiles were super fun. We saw amazing views, reindeers, and the staff were fantastic from start to finish.
100% recommend.

Highly recommended for full experience of Longyearbyen

Absolutely brilliant site seeing tour of this amazing little town, our Tour guide was Fanny and she was fantastic. Her knowledge about Svalbard/Longyearbyen was brilliant and she created a comforting vibe for the little tour group of 6. Offered advice on what to do and what Longyearbyen offers at different times of the year, I will absolutely return to experience the summer because of her shared knowledge.

The group first toured the town getting a good insights about Longyearbyen, the ln we went to a few popular tourist photos destinations. After this we visited one of the very few remaining open mines, had a short walk up to the peak of the mountain to the "Aurora study and astronomy area"(I know it has a more official name).
Then at our final stop we we went to the seed vault.

Overall I couldn't of expected any more, it was a great tour and I will recommend it to anyone.

What could have been....

Well, to be fair I dont know if the tour they would have provided would have been a 5 star experience as i actually never got to go.

In 2020 our Svalbard trip was cancelled due to Norways COVID regulations so they kept 10% of my prepaid tour as per their regulations.

I booked again in 2021, prepaid tour.... However circumstances had it we were taken of the plain at the stop over in Tromsø. Which i informed Svalbardadventures immidiately (as in while i was still in the airport).
We got on the next plane and arrived 24 hours later than planned and to late for the tour. I informed them that my days were booked but i would like to rearrange my other tours enabling us to go Snowmobiling and suggested the following day. They said there was no tour that day but if there was another day i might want to go. I suggested the day after tomorrow and added the sentence without having to pay for an additional tour. The next reply i got was "We can fill out a document that you didnt go on the tour, for you to take it up with your insurence"....
In other words tours can be arranged as long as a pay a new tour in full.... I was not even asking for a full 8 hour tout we had paid for, perhaps just 3-4 hours so that we could tick it off our bucket list....
Its not like it was high season and it couldn't fit in, we went on 4 other tours the following days and were the only ones on all of them.

I had great time in Svalbard and it was a great experience.... A little grace, fairness, compromise from Svaldbard Adventures would however have been appreciated. They are of course in their full right, but its poor service. The other companies i went with couldnt believe they did let us on another trip given the sircumstances and the time of the year....
