From first contact to delivery

S W James is an excellent business to deal with. The products are superb quality and the whole process from purchase to delivery is seamless. We are absolutely delighted with the Birdie Chair we decided on and it is so refreshing to deal with a company that delivers such a wonderful customer experience. Thank you to Warren and the team.

I was looking for a leather wingback chair for my study, and after much searching came across SW James furniture. They had a selection of wingback chairs, and importantly for me a chair which would fit through a standard door. I contacted Warren and we talked about the different chairs and leather options. I selected the Antique red and a chair called the Dorothy. Warren sent leather swatches so I could check the colours. The result , which I am sitting in now, is a superb leather armchair, so comfortable,and suits the study perfectly. I would have no hesitation in recommending S W James, you won't regret it if you are after a quality piece of furniture, made in the UK, and a genuine company.

Such a warm greeting from start to finish.. from the moment we first contacted Warren via email and then the welcome we had on our visit. Warren makes you feel special and the sofas and chairs he had on display were the 'Wow' factor. They weren't just beautiful they were comfy, and extremely high quality, something which is missing in today's standards. Whilst there we were not at all rushed, he explained how they are made, the keatger they used, etc (but I had already watched the informative YouTube video, during my research of Chesterfields).

We ordered the Huxley chair and 3 seater sofa. We were given our makers name and were kept informed of progress every week.

Since adopting Huxley, they are so comfy that we have been neglecting our chores!

I cannot recommend Warren's company (S W James & Co) enough

I recently purchased three sofas from SW James — a 5-seater Monty, a 2-seater Mini Monty, and a 1-seater Mini Monty — and I couldn’t be more delighted with both the service and the quality of the furniture.
From the very beginning, the team at SW James were exceptional. Their communication was clear, friendly, and genuinely caring. Every step of the process felt personal and attentive, and it was clear that they take real pride in what they do. Nothing ever felt rushed; instead, they guided me with patience and expertise, ensuring I chose exactly what was right for my home.
The sofas themselves are absolutely superb. The craftsmanship, comfort, and overall finish are of the highest quality. Each piece feels solid, beautifully made, and built to last. The Monty and Mini Monty designs are not only stylish but incredibly comfortable — they’ve already transformed my living space.
I’m extremely grateful for such a positive experience and for furniture that far exceeded my expectations. SW James offer a level of service and quality that is increasingly rare, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for outstanding sofas and equally outstanding customer care.

Great product to match great service

Warren was great from the start, spending time with us discussing options and offering us a custom size Huxley to fit our home. Regular updates enabled us to know what was hapening and delivery was all as promised. We love our comfy, claret (beautiful colour) Huxley and would recommend this business to everyone who loves a comfy Chesterfield.

I just wanted to say how pleased we are with our new Sterling Chesterfield 2 seater sofa and the high back scroll wing chair in ox blood red. From day one we had excellent service as with regular updates on its progress. When they arrived on time they looked extremely well made and they matched our Persian rug perfectly. Fabulous service and fantastic furniture! Having thoroughly researched the UK for a quality British settee we travelled the two hours to inspect what this Company had to offer. Warren was amazing, and a mine of information, with years of experience, guiding us on best solutions, giving great advice so we could make informed decisions. We had taken photos of our room and measurements, so Warrens handy tape measure was useful.
The settee and chair were delivered today, the Company made us extra scatter cushions and kindly took the time to refilled an old ‘grandad chair’ seat cushion so every piece of furniture was tip top in the room. Such a professional service from start to finish. So delighted and a huge thankyou to these fabulous craftsmen and the whole team. We would highly recommend.

We are very happy with our leather sofa from SW James. Communication throughout has been exemplary and the delivery process smooth. The sofa itself is a lovely piece of furniture , which I believe will only improve more with age. Highly recommended.

We ordered a custom built Queen Ann chair. The experience from order to delivery was truly brilliant. We were kept informed at all stages and when the chair arrived we absolutely loved it, many thanks to Warrens and his team!

We travelled to view the sofa’s and was impressed with the personal touch we were given and was able to try various sofa’s . After ordering we were given regular updates about the making of the sofa’s and footstool. Delivery to our home was very good and delivered on the day we asked. We purchased two Huxley Sofa’s and footstool to match. We are so pleased with them and they are well made and so comfortable. They have made our room look so cosy and we would highly recommend.

Absolutely stunning sofa - we ordered the Monty in vintage Honey. The team were great at answering a few questions before hand and then the service from placing the order right through to delivery was excellent. We were kept informed regularly. Once the sofa was delivered we were also contacted to make sure we were happy with everything. The sofa is stunning and so well made. We are really happy.

My previous attempt at buying a new leather sofa ended in disaster as the manufacturing company went bankrupt so a good friend suggested I look at S W James website so I had a browse and was very impressed so I dropped them an email Warren the co_owner telephoned me the next day told me all about the company ,manufacturing procedures and delivery I took delivery of my new birdie sofas in under 5 weeks and the quality of the sofa's and the leather used was superior to others i'd tried,from ordering to delivery this has been a very very good experience I would have no hesitation recommending Warren and the team at S W James

I think chesterfields are timeless and ooze class, so I started looking for one. To my delight, I came across S.W. James just around the corner from me. They claim to have made “The World’s Most Comfortable Handmade Chesterfield Sofas” a bold claim that I was determined to test through the grueling process of professional sofa sitting. After dragging myself from store to store, plonking down on chesterfield after chesterfield (it’s a tough job, but someone has to do it), I realised this claim might actually be true, so I ordered one.
Wow! When it arrived, the quality was immediately apparent it looks fantastic. Because it’s handmade in England (not mass produced in China), I was able to make some bespoke additions that S.W. James were happy to accommodate. Basically, they let me be as picky as I wanted.
Thanks Warren and team at S.W. James I couldn’t be happier, and my backside has never been more comfortable!

Fantastic Customer Service and the the most beautiful hand made furniture I have ever seen.

I had been let down by another company who took my order and payment and then failed to deliver the goods. I then contacted Warren at SW James who helped restore my faith in English Furniture makers and was able to deliver my Mini Monty in 6 weeks. The craftsmanship is amazing and my new sofa takes pride of place in my home office. I am so pleased with the service I have just placed an order for a footstool to go with my sofa. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough and the delivery team were also so helpful and polite as well.
