Wrong product and no customer support at all
I ordered a wireless starter kit, but received a wired thermostat instead of a wireless one.
The package includes a wireless receiver, but the thermostat itself is wired, which is clearly incorrect for a wireless system.
I contacted Tado support via their website chat on 25th March, but as of 30th March, I have received no response.
What is even more frustrating is that there appears to be no direct customer service contact method (no phone number or responsive email), leaving customers with no way to resolve urgent issues.
Sending the wrong product is already a serious issue. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be as described. In this case, the product supplied does not match what was ordered.
The lack of response, combined with the absence of accessible customer support, creates a situation where customers are effectively left without assistance after purchase, which is unacceptable.
I expect Tado to urgently resolve this by sending the correct wireless thermostat or arranging a replacement without delay.
At this point, I cannot recommend this company.

Excellent heating control system easy to use , can be controlled from wall mounted unit or your mobile phone
A little more expensive than some
But worth every penny in the long run

I now have control at a room by room level having previously been able to program the whole house on an electronic timer
Smart radiator valves X
Smart radiator valves X. They're genius. When I set the right offset, they work the best, silence regulation movement, easy setup (installation and temperature settings). I'm going to purchase Smart Thermostat X Wired for my boiler, to get regulation automated for the water temperature, in cooperation with Smart X radiator valves. I have better sleeping and living in my house, thanks to constant temperature level. I'm looking forward to see my gas energy bills.
I moved into a home with a tado system…
I moved into a home with a tado system and I can only say it’s terrible. Totally inconsistent. Random , heating comes on and off when ever, components go offline all the time. The suggested solutions seem ridiculous have the internet bridge at least 3m to all components. I’ll be taking it all out at the earliest opportunity.

Easy to set up and use.
Easy to install and works well
Easy to install and works well, I'm really impressed with the product.
Poor poor company.
Poor poor company.
A few years ago I bought a Tado thermostat specifically for the eBus & Home Assistant support. Recently they have started to rate limit customers in an attempt to push them towards a subscription.
In general I don't support subscriptions, but I especially won't support a subscription to control my own boiler.. why does this require a cloud service, and why can't I control it locally?
Absolutely disappointing. Reeks of a company that is trying to squeeze money from a from customers and doesn't understand it's core customer base.
Avoid Tado at all costs.
inb4 the canned response of:
"tado° has never officially supported any API or its use. If you can't optimize your setup to work within the generous limit for non-paying users, you have the option of using the subscription or one of the officially supported integrations we offer"
How's about allow users to access their boiler information locally, without the cloud and without a paid subscription?

Super fast support
Super fast support, they fixed it remote, quiliy product and support
Awful support, never received product
I ordered an entire tado system six weeks ago. I accidentally made an error in my shipping address, which I caught after 3 minutes, but support said it could not be changed because the order was processed. Weird, but fine. I’d deal with redirecting it.
But it’s been six weeks and my items have not even shipped. I got an email four weeks ago saying there would be delays (no other explanation), but since then, nothing. Every week I email support and they say they’ll contact logistics and get back to me. Then, nothing. It’s been an absolutely abysmal experience and I haven’t even received a product. I will be requesting a chargeback through my credit card.

Regret buying a tado system
Tado is great, until it isn’t. We have had our thermostats for a couple of years and one of them has stopped working as it is not connecting to the system. It is a problem with the tado rather than radiator as it works fine when switching around. The problem is that when a tado thermostat stops working , you have no way of heating the room. I wis we had not got rid of our manual thermostats. Their customer service team takes two days to respond to each email and I have not had a satisfactory resolution despite repeated attempts over the past 10 days. So that’s now 10 days without heating. Really poor service. I would not buy again.

Bait and switch
I bought a Tado thermostat to control my heating via Home Assistant. That was working great until, less than a year after I'd invested in the hardware, they abruptly changed their software to break this integration. As you can see from their replies to other reviewers with this problem, this is an unapologetic attempt to drive users to their paid subscriptions, exactly the thing I'd hoped to avoid when I chose Tado over other brands. Even if you aren't nerdy enough to care about Home Assistant, this is a really strong reason to never buy a Tado product – the deal may look good when you sign up, but they can just change it later. I am stuck with Tado for the time being, but obviously I'll never buy any more of their hardware, and in the long run I'll switch to a brand that treats their customers better.

Overall Good…
The switch over from my old danfoss wall unit a year ago was easy. The control i have whether at home or not is a plus. I like the window open function which saves me moaning at the wife and I am tracking my usage of oil. I would say i dropped a point because oil consumption has not been considered on the app and I never received a response to my query about this.
Great system
Easy to install & easy to operate. I love all the features of Tado that you can control via the app from your phone and gives you handy tips

Tado’s recent decision to impose strict limits on API usage is not just disappointing—it is a deeply misguided move that undermines the trust of many of its most loyal customers.
The company’s justification is particularly hard to accept. Tado claims that its APIs were never officially supported, as if this somehow excuses the sudden restriction. But this argument feels disingenuous at best. For years, the openness of the system and the ability to integrate it through APIs has been widely known and actively used by the community. In fact, for many customers—especially those building smart homes—API access was one of the primary reasons for choosing Tado over competing solutions.
Pretending now that this capability was never part of the product’s ecosystem ignores the reality of how the system has been used and promoted within the smart-home community. It also dismisses the significant time and effort that many users invested into building automations and integrations around it.
The consequences are already visible. Reviews that were once comfortably above four stars are now dropping rapidly, sliding toward 3.5 as frustrated users update their ratings. This is not the result of a minor feature change; it reflects a genuine sense of betrayal among customers who feel that a core capability has effectively been taken away.
Even more troubling is how restrictive the new limits are. They are not merely conservative—they are frankly embarrassing for a modern smart-home platform. For many practical integrations, the allowed number of API calls is simply unusable.
Tado also claims that the new API limit is “generous.” That statement honestly makes me wonder whether anyone at the company actually tried to estimate what this limit means in a real-world scenario.
Take a simple example: a home with 12 radiators. With a limit of 1,000 API calls per day, that translates into roughly 83 calls per radiator per day. Spread across 24 hours, that means about one API call every 17 minutes per radiator.
Is that really what they consider “generous”?
Are users supposed to turn on their heating and only know that it actually activated 17 minutes later? Are we supposed to detect that a room has reached the target temperature 17 minutes after it happened? Monitoring the system with that kind of delay is already absurd for a modern smart-home platform.
And this calculation assumes those calls are used only to read the status of a radiator. In reality, API calls are also needed to control the system: turning radiators on or off, adjusting target temperatures, switching heating modes, running automations, updating dashboards, synchronizing with platforms like Home Assistant, or reacting to presence detection.
If even a modest automation adjusts temperatures a few times per day — for example morning heating, daytime setback, evening comfort, and night setback — that alone could already generate 4–6 control calls per radiator per day. With 12 radiators, that is already 50–70 calls per day just for basic schedule adjustments, before even counting status checks, integrations, or monitoring.
When real-world usage is taken into account, the supposed “generous” limit of 1,000 calls per day quickly stops looking generous and starts looking completely detached from how smart-home systems are actually used.
What makes the situation worse is the apparent solution offered by Tado itself: subscribe to their paid assistance plan and suddenly the limits disappear. In other words, API access becomes effectively unrestricted if you pay the subscription. That raises an obvious and uncomfortable question: if the limits can vanish behind a paywall, were they really about technical necessity at all?
For customers who have already invested heavily in the ecosystem—often spending well over €2,000 on devices, installation, and setup—this feels like an attempt to extract even more money after the fact. Loyalty and early adoption should be rewarded, not monetized retroactively.
This decision may stand as a textbook example of how corporate greed can damage a strong product and alienate the very users who once championed it. Personally, I went from being a loyal customer who recommended the platform to someone who now advises against it. I would have even paid for their premium service if there had been a respectable reason, and not what I perceive as extortion. When I have the time, I’ll invest it — along with some money — to say goodbye to this system, with great pleasure.
