This book is an incredible resource!

This book is an incredible resource, and the author is extremely helpful and supportive in email communication.
I previously felt very stressed about how to make my lessons more fun and engaging for young learners, having no formal training on teaching children. I've found these games and the 40 or so pages of advice on pedagogy and classroom management at the beginning of the book to be invaluable in raising my confidence and understanding how to relate to kids in the classroom. I recommend the latest illustrated digital edition in PDF, as the links between the content/index and individual games are a dream. Thank you, Shelley! :)

A Handy Tool and Backup Reference

As an ESL teacher overseas, I have gained good value from this book. Even now, where we have transitioned from games to heavier use of the textbook, it's still reassuring to know we have a good source of interesting games if we need it. Thanks, Shelly!

Hello there Marina,

Thanks for your stars on Trust Pilot, I really appreciate it!

You know the I'm Hungry story 1, in the lesson plan you'l find ideas for alternative endings, check it out. I would love to hear which other stories do you think have a weird ending? I'll look at them and come up with some ideas, so you can add an ending you and the kids like. Let me know on info@teachingenglishgames.com and I'll see what I can come up with.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Useful for the flexible teacher

Overall, the resources I purchased were, in both content and skill level, appropriate for the classes I was teaching, and were a good source of ideas. I was pushing against the upper limit of the recommended skill level of my classes for the pack, but even so the lessons seemed to work well.
Although the quality of the teaching resources was not consistant, I got excellent use out of the ones I did use. Naturally, each teacher will find themselves in different circumstances and will have to adapt the resources to taste, something that Teaching English Games resource pack leant itself to very well. Some "lessons" even provided material for multiple classes, but regrettably a few weren't even worth using once.

Ultimately, I cannot recommend the product as a complete teaching solution but those willing to put some thought into it should find an accessible, structured, and flexible selection of plans.

Dear Alexander,

Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments. I am glad that you were successful with some of my stories and lesson plan ideas.

As you said, the lesson plans are to be tweaked and adapted according to the age, classroom set up and level. I'm glad you were able to adapt them as needed.

I'm concerned to read that you found some of them no use at all - I'd love to know which ones, perhaps I can improve them.

Finally, did you receive the updated, illustrated version of the preschool games book? I sent it out recently, but emails are not always delivered so this is an opportunity to check and see if you have had it.

I can send it to you if not, email me on info@teachingenglishgames.com to let me know if you need it.

I use these lesson plans every week

I use these lesson plans every week at my coffee shop for free lessons to Chinese children. The lesson plans are elementary in their mechanics. At times the volume needs to be adjusted because a section is too low. On the first lesson some of the conversation did not drop down in the slide show as the animals were conversing. I did like the advice given about how to teach 3 yr olds and the activities book I purchased. These lessons are short and keep the children's attention as do the games. Overall, I'm glad I purchased from Teaching English Games. Once I get through the first group, I will be purchasing the next. Thank you and keep improving your system.

Dear David,
Thanks very much for your comments. I'm glad things are going well.

1. Did you receive the illustrated version of the preschool games book? If not I'll send you that update.

2. Re the first lesson, or story 1, I'm Hungry:
- I checked all three versions and they all seem to be fine. The movie version with audio, you just press play and it runs. All the conversations are showing correctly.
- The PowerPoint version with audio, when run as a slide show, it's the same as the movie version.
- The silent PowerPoint version where you do the voices with the kids, you left click the mouse to get each line of conversation to appear.

Can you let me know if that solves it for you?
Also with the PowerPoints, if you accidentally delete anything, that will affect it, so you could try downloading again.

Do drop me a line on info@teachingenglishgames.com and we can check it all out together.

Re the audio, I can re-do the places that are too quiet. I'll look into it.

Looking forward to hearing from you again soon.
Kind regards
Shelley

I moved to France almost ten years ago

I moved to France almost ten years ago, and I have been teaching English to students from 2 years old to retired adults up to 80 years old, ever since. I recently discovered Shelley's books, music and other resources, and I find it extremely useful and fun for my classes. There are some great ideas that I can re-use again and again. It's such a great idea for people in need of inspiration for teaching English as a foreign language. Thank you so much.
