Non existing support, didn't have a chance to try

I ordered a parcel which unfortunately never arrived. After waiting for three weeks, I reached out to the store's support team, as the tracking information indicated that my package had been in Australia for over a week. Despite my initial request and a subsequent 15-day waiting period, I received no response from the company. There were no updates on the parcel's location, no apology, and no offer of a refund or to reship the item. Just SILENCE, like I never existed. Thanks to PayPal - I claimed the refund through them. Tealyra might have good tea, I really don't know, but for sure, it's a poorly managed company with non-existing processes.

Organic certification or independent lab testing?

I have been ordering lots organic white and green teas from this company for several years. The teas always lived up to my expectations in terms of taste. As a health conscious consumer I recently emailed them and asked whether they could show me the organic certifications or indeed any lab testing for pesticides or other unwanted substances - something any good tea importer should be able to provide. I still haven’t heard back and suspect there are none of those things. I won’t purchase again but found a trustworthy European competitor.

My experience with Tealyra company was…

My experience with Tealyra company was amazing. I bought a bunch of tea from straight black and green to herbal blends.
Needless to say, the quality is high end. You can see it right after you pot your nose into a bag ;)
Very fast delivery too

Allured

I made a large ish order (mainly expensive due to wanting to try matchas).

1: No samples. I don't mean to be THAT person because free samples is something a brand doesn't HAVE to give, but all the tea sites I've browsed before Tealrya have always given samples. Even the smaller companies! And I bought £100 worth of tea!

2: The box came with faff printed on it that put me right off "Why tea is so great.. it prevents cancer, diabetes, etc etc etc." As always, please check with your doctor and drink in moderation. Whilst tea does have some links that it can HELP, get this Americanised informercial faff away.

3: NO flavour. I love chai. I bought a bunch of chai and was not impressed by what I had. Adadgio teas and chai were much more flavoursome.
3.1: Lapsang souching is the least flavourful, frangrant one I've ever had. It's more like a Russian Caravan.

It's almost like these teas aren't fresh at all. And from reading the most 'honest' reviews, I can see I'm not the only one who thinks this way - it looks like either Tealrya's quality has gone down or their teas just are weak.

4: They have yet to post my fair negative reviews on the teas I've tried on their website.

So disappointingly they have an amazing selection of teas, but with no samples and no adequate customer services (other tea sites I've been to have a happiness guarantee where if you don't like the tea they will swap free of charge) but there's too many to go through to find ones that don't taste like dishwater.

I'm really upset by this tea company and hope this deters you too. There's better value for your money out there.

PS: I tried their matcha - the expensive ones - it has a very fishy aftertaste and I have been making my matcha for awhile. The higher priced ones are bitter, not clean nor bright, and very unenjoyable.

False pretences

I was sucked in as because this is a .co.nz address I assumed it was a local supplier. Thought shipping cost was steep but went ahead and ordered, only realising and reading separate shipping info after no sign of delivery that this is an overseas site. Tea took almost a month to arrive, no tracking available and tea 5 times the cost of what it is if purchased locally. Will definitely not use Tealyra again.

One of my new favourite shops

I've always loved tea but I've not been enormously adventurous until fairly recently. I've tried about ten different teas from Tealyra and I've absolutely loved the variety and quality available.

I mostly prefer black tea and Tealyra has a great range of teas of all varieties but especially black tea. My current favourites are Keemun Mao Feng, Assam Khagorijan, Thurbo Darjeeling first flush and Margaret's Hope Darjeeling second flush. The exotic names are as appealing as the tea.

I had a new delivery this morning and I'm genuinely excited to try to some new teas. I haven't liked everything I've tried but that's down to my taste, not the quality of the tea.

If you love tea and don't mind paying a bit extra for something special, Tealyra is the place for you. I've been like a child in a sweetshop since I discovered it.

Great customer service!

Unfortunately there was a misunderstanding as to where orders where shipped from on the .eu Tealyra site, which meant the order went straight to customs in Denmark, which is associated with a handling fee. However throughout all of this process, customer service answered emails promptly, was in general very service minded and in the end even offered to pay the customs handling fee. I could not have had a much better experience as a customer.

The best mugs, awful packaging

The best mugs, great teas, but too much plastic packaging.

Totally unnecessary amounts of plastic bonded to card on the item box (can't be recycled), expanded plastic housing the mug (can't be repurposed in any way, nor recycled), and nor are the pouches the tea is sold in recyclable locally. While much of UK doesn't accept #2 code material, why not ship in compostable material. I emailed about this but no acknowledgement or reply.

It's a shame, as it's clear that much consideration has gone into the products. Any consideration for the environment seems to have been missed.

I received my order of Earl Grey…

I received my order of Earl Grey classic. I find it dreadful. It’s just a cheap black tea with cornflower pedals. There is no Bergamot oil so it doesn’t smell or taste anything all like real Earl Grey tea. Very poor showing.

Having been delivered a box of glasses

Having been delivered a box of glasses, unfortunately one glass was broken. Having contacted the company, they were extremely polite and efficient which is exactly the service you expect to receive. Sergey was outstanding and I would like to thank him for his high end service and management of my order. Will definitely be ordering again in future.

Faultless

Having been a customer of TeaLyra for almost two years now, a number of their teas are part of my family's daily routines and I can't imagine life without them. Their range is unrivalled and their customer service is consistently brilliant. I have yet to meet a tea of theirs that I didn't like. Thank you, TeaLyra!

Matcha Iri Sencha

Matcha Iri Sencha - totally addicted to this tea. Despite of ordering it for ages I am still experimenting on how to best prepare it. It tastes best when you take boiling water in a flask - the tea in the metal tea pig - and enjoy it during a break on a long walk in the woods on a cold sunny day.
