Tesco Credit Card service and Support
When our Tesco credit card was blocked, we went through all the security questions and verified ourselves — but we were still told nothing could be done because the team that handles card blocks had finished for the day. There was no alternative route, no escalation, and no out‑of‑hours support.
I fully support fraud checks and I appreciate any organisation that protects customers from suspicious activity. What I cannot support is a process that leaves people without access to their card simply because the relevant team has gone home for the day. When I raised a complaint, the experience didn’t improve. I was told a letter explaining their protocol had been sent but “must have been lost in the post” . They also said they “expect customers to have other methods of payment available”, which is not a reassuring stance for any financial service.
For a company of Tesco’s size, this protocol is outdated and puts the burden on the customer rather than addressing their own operational gaps.
