Traveling from Brussels to Amsterdam…

Traveling from Brussels to Amsterdam today and even though we have Eurail 1st class pass we could not reserve the seats in 1st class. I booked the seats 3 weeks ago . Apparently the number of seat reservations are capped for pass holders. There were no 1st class seat reservation available on any other times of the day or day before or after. We booked the 2nd class seats however could not choose seat numbers. We were completely fine with the 2nd class travel until we got to our seats and realised we were next to the toilets and it smelt bad all the way. It was unbearable. We thought about changing seats but didn't know if it will be occupied by someone else at later stations. Overall had a bad first experience. Not sure if I would travel this train again.

Terrible train!!

Terrible train!!! Always delayed. And the worst thing is the staff! Very rude, never knows anything as well. I am a frequent traveller and always have a corporate ticket which should allow me to take earlier or later train. But staff usually just starts screaming without even looking at the ticket!!! Would never travel with them if it was not the only choice!!

Absolutely horrible booking website and horrible customer service!!!! Screw you guys seriously! Found our tickets, me and three friends, filled out all our information and clicked "book now" (credit card was already filled in as well mind you!!!!) and it redirected me to the homepage losing all my information!!!! Grump!! Okay, filled it all out again after I noticed prices went up - okay that happens but had everything filled out again and guess what??? They redirected me to the homepage and lost all my information AGAIN! And then the prices were jerked up 100 euros on both train travels!! What??!! Called customer service and all I got was that the seats must have been taken!!!! That's it! Really? I was told I was at fault. But how can that be ?? The prices and the seats are gone in the 2 minutes it takes me to fill in the details? Aren't the seats on hold for a few minutes while you have to fill in the info?

Booked with IC local trains and Eurostar and got faster/cheaper tickets. Screw Thalys!!!

My train ticket had a mistake in it

My train ticket had a mistake in it, it was telling me that I had to switch train, which is wrong, I had to stay in the train. And even though I paid the same price as my friends they were in first class "luxury" and I was in first class "comfort". I wanted to go talk to them to make sure they knew we had to stay in the trains but the Thalys crew just stopped me from going to talk to them. I was treated like a criminal who was going to disturb the passengers of ultimate 1st class. This is absolutely scandalous, I couldn't even go tell them there was a mistake and because of this extreme and severe policy we almost missed our stop.

Masters of delays and mess

Avoid by any cost! Took it several times. Never ever had a smooth ride. The best was when I and my family got sold tickets to the train that even doesn’t exist. And we were not the only ones who got tickets for a ghost train. My mum was really close to miss her flight

Very good experience overall

We are on the Thalys right now between Paris Nord and Brussels Midi. We are traveling in the 1st class or Premiere, paid approx 79€ for the tickets (non-flexible).
We initially made a mistake, and booked the wrong date, but an immediate call to their customer services helped us to get things right, and to change the date of our ticket without any extra fees.
The train staff are super friendly, we were greeted in both Spanish, French and Dutch upon arrival and shown to our seats. After an on the second departure from Paris we were given a wet wipe to clean our hands before the dinner service began.
To dinner we had two options, one vegetarian and one with chicken. I went for the chicken and my girlfriend for the vegetarian option, both really good. They had a drink of the day offered which was a green ice tea blend, or traditional options such as water, soft drinks or wine.
After a second round of bread, we also got served coffee, and some more water.
Over all the dinner service was good, but contained a fair share of single use plastic, which I feel can be a point of improve, to reduce waste and the feeling of service level.
The wifi is okay, but slow occasionally during the journey.
For me this is a five star service, especially with the price in consideration.

much more reliable than Deutsche Bahn ICE

Whenever I travel Thalys from Brussels to Cologne the trains are on time, fast and comfortable. For my last journey I got a premium ticket at a discount and was served a very nice meal. Please note that for short distance trips such as Brussels to Liege meals are NOT included in Premium, reading the reviews I get the impression some passengers are not aware of this. I find Thalys are much more reliable than Deutsche Bahn ICE trains, (and in those you even have to pay for coffee in first class, that is if the trains are not cancelled....)

Horrible service will never book again

This is the first and last time I will travel with Thalys. I took the train Amsterdam - Paris and paid 300€ for a 1st class ticket. If the service would have been nice I would have gladly paid 300€ but:
1) the train crew was rude and with a terrible attitude, it felt like they are doing you a favor in being there
2) WiFi was so slow i could not even open WhatsApp
3) paying 60€ more to travel first class gives you absolutely zero advantages (only slightly bigger seats)
4) bathroom was disgusting and missing all basic toiletries (including toilet paper!)

I will never book again as the flights Amsterdam-Paris are really cheap and take less time to reach destination. Don’t know why I even thought of booking this train.

This is the worst company

This is the worst company I came across my whole life. Never ever book this!
They literally threw me out of the train, I even had a valid ticket. There was no room to discuss. Zero stars. Worst ride ever.

No professionality of the employees

No professionality of the employees, no dinner that was supposed to be included in the "premium" ticket (the employees were not surprised at all of that). You pay for premium, you get the worst service. After an intense day of work I was counting on my dinner (and I also had plenty of time to buy it) and nothing : tonight no dinner (other than a delay of 50 minutes on a 1h15 travel)

very Angry with this Company

very Angry with this Company, i would definitely report this behavior to the autorithies. Outside is 40 degrees inside worst. And the train is delayed for almost 3 hours. After that it got worse, this train had to slow its speed, stopped on numerous ocations because the eingine wouldnt start, also the air conditioner wasnt working during this periods. Instead of caring for their passengers, there were people.sweating, old people tired from.this journey. This happened pn the 25.7.2019. Train should have started at 11h20 in paris nord and arrive at 14h44 in amsterdam. We had to change trains at 18h00 in rotterdam. In amsterdam we arrkved almost at 20h00 pm. Unbelievable none helped us during any transition from train or.provided.for.water. This company deserved to be banned.

I took the Thalys to Paris to catch a flight. The Thalys was more than 6 hours delay. During this full 6 hours, no one appeared to care for the passengers on the train. I missed the flight because the train was a delay, and no one appeared and helps me solve the compensation problem.
Thalys is a downright liar, it should be bankrupt and should not exist on the European continent.

If i could give -10 i would

If i could give -10 i would . This is the first negative review i have ever written but sitting on the floor for the entire paris to Brussels train ride has me so pi$$ed off. After paying €69 for a seat on the train, given a ticket with a seat number that morning, arriving to the station to find no information on where my train was, asked multiple people and was told to board the other train that was leaving at the same time. Got to that train and was told that i didnt have a seat and to wait until everyone else had boarded and hopefully get a seat. So guess what no seats availiable and im sitting on the floor and im not the only one. No communication from staff at all. Would rather pay extra and pay for baggage to fly than go with thalys again.

Unfortunately I can't give less than 1 star

Unfortunately I can't give less than 1 star, otherwise I would. Also unfortunately Thalys has virtually a monopoly on high-speed train connection between Amsterdam and Paris. We have used it several times to get between those cities and almost each ride had some kind of problem. Out of 10 trips at least half were delayed, more or less - and on two trips there was some other Thalys train that was broken and the passengers from that broken train were shoved into ours. To say it was a mess is an understatement - people having to sit on the floor for an hour without any compensation offered. A perfect example of how to turn a great idea into a disaster. Next time we are going to take the plane.

The worst experience ever I've had in…

The worst experience ever I've had in my life. I'm from Brazil and live in Santiago - Chile and I was never stolen in Latin America. However, last June 17th, 2019 I was stolen between Paris and Brussels. I had no assistance from Thalys' staff team, I asked for them to help me with camera, contacting the Brussels station etc.. They just ignored. I got all my money and passports stolen. This is not safe train and the assistance is the worst I've had.

Too many announcements

Too many announcements: This is a general comment from a regular traveller, travelling 4 to 6 times per month. Sorry they missed out stopping at The Hague when they introduced the high speed line to Amsterdam and please it is not an aeroplane. I count sometime over 50 announcements (in 3 and sometimes 4 languages) made on the train in a 3.5 hour journey. Cannot work, sleep or watch a movie on a tablet with the incessant announcements. Can I pay extra to book a really silent carriage free of train announcements?

Thalys service 9351, a journey from hell.

Service 9351, Paris to Amsterdam, Saturday June 15, a journey from hell. Carriage 13, first class carriage. Air conditioning not working from the start, passengers expected to sit for 3 hours in a overheated carriage, a danger to health. Train manager no where to be seen, too cowardly to face passengers. We were left to ourselves to find a seat in another carriage. Profits over passenger safety and comfort.

I'll say what everyone talks here

I'll say what everyone talks here, horrible company, horrible customer traitment, lack of information to the clients, we had to change train with mere voice instructions, we had seating problems and people were confused, the conductor didn't help at all. Instead, he just treated everyone with rudeness and without calm.
