Was great through all communications

Put a deposit down on a Defender and was trying to arrange collection (I live 8 hours away) over a period of weeks. Tim had taken the car off Autotrader etc and arranged for a 3rd party inspection of the vehicle. Which was paid for. Due to personal circumstances I was unable to follow through with the purchase. Tim was super understanding and said not to worry and that he would get my deposit back to me. I was doubtful as I had never even met him and he is 100s of miles away, but within two days the money was back in my account. Recommended.

selling your car

Car Barns Ltd
if they buy your car on motorway your in for a fat surprise
they win the Auction then they don't answer the contact number for a week then they tell you there coming, don't arrive you waste a lot more time
you constantly call finely they say be there tomorrow,
oh ok i have nothing better to do than wait around for you to show up
when they turn up they will chip you down £1000 plus and make out they are doing you a favour
by this time your hair is hanging out as you already are buying your next car and need the money they know this hence the big delay
you just want them to just go, this was a total mess and have called motorway expressing my concerns
PS the car then is up for sale £4k more after them saying not much profit is this vehicle

Walk away, don’t trust them.

I agreed a 50k price for a Jaguar with Tim Boler on condition the car had the advisories from the recent MOT carried out and a full service that was overdue.

The service that was carried out was done by a garage that were not affiliated with JLR, and therefore the online service history was not up to date.

After a long phone call, Tim Boler agreed to pay for another service but could not explain why the advisories ( new front discs) had not been done as agreed, apart from suggesting that they didn’t need doing.

My e mail to him explains more.

Dear Tim, please find the attached invoice for the service that has now been entered on the JLROSH website.

Please note the comments of the Health Check on the invoice, and in particular the mention of corroded front discs that were also noted as an advisory by Orchard Garage of Dartford during the MOT test on the 2nd May 2025. (Attached)

When I agreed to purchase the car it was on the understanding that it was to be serviced, which has now eventually been done and that all advisories on the MOT were to be carried out.

You supplied me with a new MOT from J Ridler Auto Repairs dated 10th September 2025 (Attached) that did not make comment on the pitted front discs or state any other advisories required, even though the front discs are clearly in need of attention and should have been changed as per our agreement.

On collection of the car your colleagues were pleasant, but unable to explain why your ‘service Centre’ could not gain access to the JLR service website, and were insistent that they did not want me to leave with the car if I was discontented and that a full refund would be paid. During my subsequent telephone conversation with you, our focus was on the cost of having the vehicle re-serviced, which, to your credit, you agreed to pay for.

I now regret not demanding a better explanation as to why your ‘service Centre’ had not picked up the corroded discs and challenging you when you alluded to the previous MOT station perhaps being incorrect and possibly underhand.

It is now clear that the only MOT that needs investigation is the one that you supplied.

I could also bring up the Apple Car Play that although advertised, is not on the car, and the + Battery lead that was not secured causing the car to stop without warning and also the Tracker on the car that was last used in 2021 and has a failed internal battery which needs servicing before I can subscribe, which is causing insurance issues.

To conclude, my experience with The Car Barns has not been good, although I am currently unsure of my next action.

Regards

Simon

After a week I followed up my e mail and to my surprise I got an almost instant reply, claiming I had been rude to his staff and that he never agreed to sorting out the advisories. He also gave me an address of where to send any legal action I was going to take for a formal complaint.
I thought Trust Pilot was a good start and now on to trading standards.

Don’t use them.

Very frustrating......

Very frustrating....... So purchased a £25k Vehicle. Initial dealings with Tim were pleasant and seemingly fair. I had an issue with the vehicle and although it wasn't covered under the warranty he provided (I was told that it had full cover for anything) when warrantywise refused to pay he did help and I managed to get just under half of my claim paid.... Still not a great result but you must acknowledge his effort.... What has been the most frustrating is chasing the V5... 5 months on and still nothing, empty promises and ignoring calls and messages to be told at the end to sort it myself... I told him months ago I could have chased DVLA and kept getting told he'd send the V5...... Car was fair for age an mileage, price was fair - but judging by these reviews and my experience, if you want a hassle free purchase.... Find one somewhere else

Avoid at all cost!!!!
Purchased a £30k Jaguar ipace, car has had issues but no warranty info has been passed to us even though 6 months were offered at point of sale.
Tim has read messages sent to him, but no replies given. Disappointing, don't waste your money with this company.

I bought a 50k car from The Car Barns.

I bought a 50k car from The Car Barns.
The car had some minor issues and although it has taken nearly three weeks for Tim to step up and assume his promise to put things right it seems that at last all will be put right in the next few days.
The car is good, I hope the after sales promises are just as good!

Avoid completely.

Avoid completely.
Having worked in the motor trade for 34 years for a main dealer it’s people like this con artist that give the motor trade a bad name.
Unfortunately my son now has to pay the consequences for being taken in by the dishonesty.
From the moment he collected and paid in full for the car Tim washed his hands with it.
No warranty administered no contact from him after trying to report issues less than 3 weeks after purchase.
Will be contacting Trading standards as the vehicle was sold not fit for purpose.
Along with the omnibus.

Dishonest and Deceptive—Stay Away!

Dishonest and Deceptive—Stay Away!

I had an awful experience with this Tim, and I feel compelled to warn others about his unethical practices. When he initially approached me to purchase my car, he was full of promises—claiming the process would be smooth, quick, and hassle-free. However, everything fell apart when it was time for them to collect the vehicle.

His lack of transparency and honesty was infuriating, and Tims communication was borderline nonexistent unless I chased him down, only to have him divert my calls or give me a lie about an ill family memeber. It’s clear he have no respect for customers’ time or trust.

If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, stay far away from this dealership. Tim only interested in taking advantage of you and will say anything to close a deal—only to go back on their word later. Save yourself the stress and find a dealership with integrity.

Incorrect Mileage, Check Engine Light on Day 1

I purchased a 2020 Mercedes V Class in July 2024. The first red flag was the mileage posted on AutoTrader was 6k less than what was on the odometer. Upon collecting, everything seemed fine.
I drove the vehicle home (50 minutes away), and by the time I got home, the check engine light came on. Frustrating. I contacted Tim to see if he was interested in rectifying the issue. He told me he would drive down the next day to place an OBP reader in the vehicle. That never happened. Eventually, the texts and calls were not returned, and the issue is now mine to fix. If you fall in love with a vehicle these guys are selling, just forget you've seen it. Save yourself the money.

AVOID - Dishonest

I purchased a car from Tim at the Car Barns in March 2024. It is now June 2024 and I still have had no documentation of the 6 month warranty or breakdown cover the car came with. Despite emails, texts and calls chasing this. Today, the car has a flat tyre, upon trying to put the spare tyre on it became apparent the locking wheel nut key was not supplied with the vehicle. When collecting the car we asked twice ‘where is the locking wheel nut key?’ only to be told by Tim the car did not have locking wheel nuts so there was no key. Clearly it should have come with the key. Upon calling Tim today, stuck at the roadside with a flat tyre and no key for the locking wheel nuts, he LIES on the phone and denies telling us the car didn’t have locking wheel nuts. He told us he gave us the key and ‘why are you pushing this back on me?’. An absolute joke. He sold a car without a key component and now I am stuck with a car with a flat tyre that I cannot change and he is now calling me back! Absolute joke. I would never buy from him again and urge you all to AVOID. Cannot do enough for you when you purchase but as soon as you drive off, that’s is, no customer care or service.

I bought a £75k Range Rover only to…

I bought a £75k Range Rover only to discover the car had been involved in an accident on the passenger side front end even though the hpi was clear. The bumper and front wing had been repaired very poorly even by a £2k car standards. Before i went to collect the car i asked Tim the owner of The Car Barns multiple times if it had any issues, any dents or even small scratches and repeatedly lied by saying NO, the car is in perfect condition. He did not disclose the accident or any of the faults the car had.
When i collected the car, I didn’t see the repair because it was a grey and rainy day. I discovered the repair next day after i had collected the car, went to a professional workshop to confirm and so they did. I contacted Tim asking to return the car, he refused to take the car and came up with all kind of excuses and contradictions, even accusing me of having had the accident and repaired it all within 48hrs of purchase. BIZAREE CHARACTER! He also told me there were no technical issues but the sensor parking sensor on the accidented part of the bumper did not work. Reverse camera was faulty, one of the wheels was mat and the other 3 were gloss, rear entertainment has a broken plastic cover, yet he told me the car was perfect. DO NOT TRUST A WORD THIS MAN SAYS! DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS MAN OR FIRM, BUY ELSEWHERE EVEN IF YOU PAY MORE. YOU ARE GARANTEED TO HAVE ISSUES WITH TIM. READ THE OTHER PEOPLES FEEDBACK! IF YOU DO BUY A CAR, USE A CREDIT CARD SO YOU CAN CLAIM BACK ANY DAMAGES. HE CANT CHARGE YOU A FEE FOR USING A CARD ITS ILEGAL! If he threatens you legally, ignore him they are all empty threats, a tactic he uses all the time. Currently liaising with Trading standards and my lawyer because i can afford one but if you cant, don’t feel scared by his legal threats. Get everything in writing whatsapp email. You can get free lawyer from citizens advice bureau.
