Overpriced and Underserved – A Letdown from Brick Lane

I recently tried the Salt Beef and Pastrami from Brick Lane near the lakeside, priced at £7.30 each (£14.60 for two). Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The portions were extremely small, resembling a mini cheeseburger rather than a satisfying sandwich. The meat servings were minimal and far from what you’d expect for the price.

Having previously enjoyed Salt Beef from other Brick Lane locations (some open 24 hours), this was by far the worst experience. The customer service was equally underwhelming. They forgot to include basic ingredients like cucumbers in my pastrami and only added them after I specifically asked.

I cannot recommend this location. If you’re craving Salt Beef or Pastrami, there are much better options elsewhere that offer proper portions, better service, and overall value for money. This was a letdown in every aspect.

Bad service

Only one guy at the desk. Have to wait 25 min to ask for a juice..and another 20 to get it done. Very very bad service.

I got a tuna bagel at Magasin Kongens…

I got a tuna bagel at Magasin Kongens Nytorv (to go) and there was almost no tuna in it, but instead, an overpowering amount of cream cheese. My wife's bagel (veggie version) was also disappointing - the vegetables were simply soft/soggy and lacked crunch. Also, the quality of the bagels could be improved- mine was extremely dry and tasted just like boring white sandwich bread. In New York (where I'm from) these would not be acceptable as bagels. 2 stars because the coffee and service were decent.

Unacceptable hygiene conditions, unprofessional and disrespectful boss (employee experience)

I had a trial to work as a store staff in this company and, after seen how they work, I would not recommend to buy nothing of food there. First of all, the hygiene conditions of the place where they prepare the food is unacceptable. All dirty and untidy. That was the first thing that cough my attention. Dirty tables and floors, poor hygiene of containers and kitchen utensils used to prepare food. I saw all of this at an opening hours, that's why it is evident that nobody cleans the kitchen correctly at closing time, as is usual in a professional food store. If any of you people reading this are celiac or allergic to some ingredients, I encourage you to not buy in this place, because doesn't look that they have the proper care about it.
Secondly, the owner treat very bad to his employees with disrespectful vocabulary that is not necessary at all. Even when he doesn't know me and where I worked in the past he accused me -in a sarcastic way and bad mood- of having lied in my resume and have written -with his words- "bulls#it" on it. If he treat me like this in the first hour of trial, I really don't want to know how would be working with him once he has more confidence.
As a finishing touch, I would like to everyone to know that they pay 105 dkk an hour to his employees, even when they have the responsibility of opening and closing the store, even if is a weekend and you work until nine o'clock at night and even if you go to work on a rest day agreed because "employees are obligated to cover the sick days of the staff". I believe that a job with this level of responsibility and conditions should be much better paid. Now I can completely understand if some employees of this company sometimes look sad or angry at work.
This man told me (literally): "this is not a place for stupid people". Well, I believe that I am not as "stupid" to waste my time working for a company like this one and much less spending my money on any of their products.
