Worst customer service by woman who says shes the owner

I bought a bed and mattress over the phone whilst looking online. The process was good and straight forward. I also bought two mattress protectors all to be delivered when it had all arrived in store.
So far so good.
I realised the next day that I had ordered double size mattress protectors. Because I have a disability, i though that bigger ones would be easier to put on the mattress even though it was only a double itself. I phoned the shop. I got a very rude woman who apparently was the owner who questioned why I wanted to change the mattress protectors to larger ones and said that ' nobody else has ever had a problem with them'. I said that maybe they hadn't but as I had not had them delivered yet, I would like to go up a size. She refused and got argumentative. I said that I could not write a positive review if she was so rude. She then told me that she would go to the police and report me for slander if I wrote a negative review and ' was it worth the time in jail'?
I then decided not to speak to her again over the matter but instead I sent two messages on their website contact us form asking for the larger mattress protectors to be sent. No reply. I also emailed. No reply.
When the bed was delivered, the two mattress protectors were also delivered - in the original smaller size!

I phone up and the rude owner said ' we sent what you ordered'. I said that I had asked straight after ordering for the larger ones and that I had also mailed them several times. She refused to send me larger ones.

The carpet fitters earlier that day had damaged my existing head board. So I phoned and asked what they had in the colour that I wanted. When it arrived, it was not the exact shade that I wanted. I phoned up and asked if they had any others. I had not touched the headboard. She again argued, refused to do anything about it.

I did not open the mattress protectors. I contacted trading standards who advised me that they could not understand why she was so rude and that she could have charged me more for the larger size! They said I had a 14 day cooling off period as I had not opened them. They told me to email the owner of the shop. I did so. I put the exact wording that they said. No reply. I sent it again. No reply.
They then said I could go to court, but my health has not been good and to be honest, I didn't want the hassle. I think this company run on that assumption. That they just ignore you once they have taken your money. It is a shame as I spent well over £1000 with this shop on one order and I will not be going back.

I thought I was doing the right thing shopping local and not going to a chain store to buy the bed but I have never had such awful, rude and threatening customer service in my life. It is a shame as the qualify of the bed is lovely. Sadly I can not say the same for the attitude of the woman who runs the shop.

Beware - faulty goods - aggressive staff member

I went to buy a brand new headboard and was ushered downstairs into a poorly lit basement where the ex- display goods were. There were quite a few headboards in varying sizes pushed together & the assistant merely separated the colour I liked by pulling them apart stacked up against each other so basically I only had a “side view” of the headboard & not able to stand directly in front of it. She said that it was purely ex-display only with no marks or damage apart from a single loose thread located at the bottom of the headboard. This wouldn’t have been seen anyway as a bed would have covered it. I agreed to have this & we went upstairs and I paid in full £150 +15 delivery charge.

She pointed out as she wrote on the invoice “ex-display - sold as seen” was for legal purposes only. When the headboard was delivered it was covered in polythene & we only discovered on removing this that the headboard had a manufacturing fault with the padding creasing on the front. I rang the shop & explained & was asked if I could send some pictures which I did with a covering email & said that I’d only just looked @ the invoice to get their phone no. & found that the assistant had also written after “sold as seen … marks/damage - customer advised.” This is untrue as she said it was ex-display only & no faults & never uttered the words “marks/damage customer advised”.

Later that day I got a very vociferous phone call from someone else @ the shop with a very aggressive & tantamount to bullying attitude with her spurious comments shouting at me that I wouldn’t be getting a replacement or refund as it was “sold as seen”. I could hardly get a word in but when I did I told her I would be seeking legal advice & I would be using social media where she screamed that if I was threatening her with Facebook she would terminate the call and report me to the police. At no point did I threaten her - she was the aggressor.

My advice - don’t use this shop but if you do - look over the goods with a fine tooth comb & in a well lit area & read your invoice before you leave the shop. A costly headboard for a disabled couple in their 70s who didn’t even want an ex-display model.
