Optimum service
Have just ordered a couple of Christmas presents from The Champagne company, because I like the range of grande marque and grower champagnes they offer. The website is excellent and the delivery comes well-packed and promptly. All-in-all, they offer an excellent service.

A disappointing experience
I ordered a large amount of Charbonnel & Walker champagne truffles at the price of £123 with all except one of the boxes being Christmas gifts. When I opened the largest box of Chocolates I noticed immediately they were completely the wrong colour, dried out inside and unlike any of the chocolates from that brand that I have bought before.
I contacted the company with photographs clearly showing that there was an issue with the chocolates and was told that there would be an investigation with their account manager at Charbonnel & Walker and a refund could not take place until this happened. I was disappointed with this as there should have been an instant refund from the company that I brought from and the investigation should have then been completed on their part.
This process took a week and then I was due to receive my refund for the single faulty box. As I had discovered that one of the boxes had an issue I had to open the rest of them to confirm that they didn’t have the same problem, therefore I could no longer gift these as they have been opened so ultimately I have wasted all of that money. Although the communication was good, I’m disappointed with how this company handles any problems and have no confidence with buying from them again. There was no good will gesture received and I’m disappointed that I was not instantly refunded after confirming to the company that there was an issue.

On the rare occasion where issues with products are raised, we are required to follow a procedure and raise any quality concerns directly with our suppliers to determine whether the issue was isolated or if it has affected multiple items which in this case resulted in the return of a several lot numbers which they recognised as a manufacture issue, which included your order, and so we were unable to provide another product immediately which ordinarily we would have done.
We have looked into this with the Customer Services team, and can see that they actioned your report as quickly as possible and kept you updated throughout, ensuring that your case was resolved within the 3–5 working day timeframe advised on your initial contact.
While we appreciate that waiting for a resolution is never ideal, we do our best to balance speed with the necessary checks to maintain product integrity and fairness for all our customers.
