Cornwall hotel pre-Christmas stay
The room was warm, spacious and immaculately clean; coffee, tea and biscuits too. The Power shower was lovely.
The Spa treatment was affordable and totally relaxing, the gym equipment was excellent, the pool was lovely and warm and, as expected, the facilities were immaculately clean.
The food was Excellent and the staff were Professional, Courteous and Very helpful - going out of their way to get information on local events.
Afternoon tea spa day
Booked as a gift an afternoon tea and spa day with friends, lovely location tucked away you wouldn’t even know it’s there.
We had the Halloween Afternoon tea and it wasn’t only presented great it tasted amazing, we had so much that they boxed up the cakes we had remaining to take home.
We then headed to the spa which was a real treat I’ve experienced treatments before and this was up there the staff were so friendly and warm and we all managed to have a good laugh are ages were 43-64 and we had facials and massages all of which were amazing and finished up in the tranquil room. Then we headed to the spa and the facilities were impressive so clean and tidy we loved it all from the steam room to the jacuzzi and the infinity pool the view was wonderful such a calming and relaxing day!
Spa and Superior room very tired
We stayed in a superior room and it was exceptionally tired and of poor quality.
The bed was sagging on one side so badly that we had to ask housekeeping to put something under the sheet to try and level it out. It helped but still was awful to sleep on and meant when you tried to sleep on your front it meant your head and feet were higher than your torso which caused a very sore back.
The carpet had a huge tear in it right by the bed which looked absolutely awful. It is a trip hazzard.
The lock on the patio door wouldn't work and kept jamming so we needed to get maintenance to come and fix it so that we could lock it.
The rattan chairs on the patio both had huge holes in and we had to ask them to change them. The chair cushions were not put out to cover the holes was because they were actually covered in stains and very dirty so the housekeeping put them on top of the wardrobe. They were gross.
We had to ask housekeeping to come and hoover the cobwebs and spiders in two corners of the room.
The bathmatt was stained on the underside.
The spa was very tired and grubby. The hotel was certainly not worth the £200+ a night that we paid.
Mixed the vegetarian afternoon tea up
Mixed the vegetarian afternoon tea up . Had sausage roll on vegatarian plates mentioned to waitress she said we have a different chef no alternative was given . The sandwiches consisted of just egg mayonnaise no cheese as stated . The sandwiches were extremely small . The cakes were all the same apart from food colouring . Two meringues one bright blue the other red colouring . Plus two profiteroles and a lemon mousse . Very disappointed . Would not go again . Low quality food
ABSOLUTELY AWFUL
The stay and the customer service is so bad, it wont fit into a review. Please, i beg of you, check my tripadvisor review before you book. This is more of a warning than a review. If i could give a lower rating i would.

We had 2 nights here last monday to wednesday.
The hotel says it is high end and offers the best well:
Good bits the staff are excellent, the spa, pool, sauna and gym are fine maybe an outdoor hot tub would be great. Our room was lovely no issues pleasent and with balcony. My wife had a great massage with Macey loved all of it. She was excellent
Bad bits mostly revolved around the food. We had dinner on the first night starter pleasent 45 min wait for main. We had the Thai green curry, my wife had the veggie version. It was a poor comparison to the proper ones. The only flavour came from the thin slices of chilli, the broth was a thin tasteless soup. With mange tout hiding in the bottom. Underwhelming for this place. Worse was to come at breakfast the following morning they were nit ready even though it had been open for 30 mins. No hot water for tea. No spoons for either serving or on the tables. Not all items out and no apologies.
I would not be in a rush to go back and this was for our wedding aniversary.Shame
Lunch at the Cornwall Hotel
We visited the hotel for lunch as a group of four ladies. On arrival no staff were present, We eventually found someone and were shown our table. We waited about 15 minutes before anyone arrived and we asked for menus. The choice was quite limited, but we ordered one strange hoisin duck pizza, one mussels and two fish goujons and chips. We waited about 15 minutes for the food to arrive, the pizza was large, the fish had soggy batter and the mussels were large shells but very small flesh, quite a large number of empty shells. I had to ask for a bowl of water and a bowl for the shells. No spoon supplied for the sauce. When we had finished the plates were eventually collected and we asked for the dessert menu. Having waited 20 minutes we asked again for the menu having had to go and find a waiter. The chosen desserts finally arrived and were very average. Finally we went to find someone we could pay, very offhand staff, the amount on the receipt was wrong, and also very expensive for what we had had. The male working the till couldn't have cared less and seemed very confused working the bill out between his phone and the till. We had arrived at 12.30 and left after 4.30 we seemed to be the only ones having lunch as they were serving afternoon tea from noon. We live locally and the service is always poor with no one seeming to know what they are doing or be in charge. All together very disappointing.

Cornwall Hotel
Hotel is beautiful as is the spa. Rooms nice. Food was awful, breakfast was fine but dinner was as if they had defrosted parts of the food as it was tasteless and watery. Definitely need a word with the chef.
It gorgeous but perhaps overpriced for what it is
This was my second time staying at the hotel. I find it convenient for access to the Eden Project when visiting Cornwall.
It looks amazing when driving in and the grounds are beautiful to walk around.
I had a luxury double in the Woodland Wing which is a very decent sized room however, the huge bed (which is made from 2 singles pushed together) wasn't clipped together and just like last time, there appears to be no mattress pad either to stop you falling down the middle.
There's also some kind of weird electrical fault in this hotel that causes all the bedroom lights to flicker at random intervals - this has happened in both rooms I've stayed in. And also... really need to work on installing an elevator to the floors in the woodland wings.
Bathroom is huge and beautiful but would benefit from a grab rail when getting out of the bath.
Swimming pool and steam room were excellent, had a fantastic time.
Staff at the pool reception were really friendly and kind, we appreciated that.
I do think it's overpriced for what you get as there's quite a lot of dust in the rooms, the balconies are dirty and the furniture has seen better days but nevertheless I would stay again.
I have just returned from a weekend…
I have just returned from a weekend break with my two daughters. This was our second visit to the hotel, our first being in June. Lovely friendly staff especially Paula and Chelsea who made us feel very welcome. Ellie was our waitress at breakfast who was a star and special thanks to Amiee, nail technician in the spa who made my nails look fabulous! Wonderful food in the restaurant and lovely a clean room. Thank you!

We had such a perfectly relaxing afternoon of swimming and eating! The facilities were tip top, very clean and cared for. Everything you could wish for was provided - towels, shower products, powerful hair driers, hand and body lotions.
The afternoon tea was just right. Nice sandwiches, scones and little cakes. Endless tea on request.
I am so looking forward to going again!
Poor quality and expensive hotel.
Stayed at the hotel for 4 days in September 2021.
Room was satisfactory but the bath was badly damaged and the door hinges were oozing with oil.
Tea and coffee supplies were stingy to say the least.
Wicker furniture on the balcony was tatty and well past its best.
The view was off-putting to say the least. We could easily see and smell the kitchen extractor.
The swimming pool was supposed to have a bathing limit of 25 people due to covid restrictions but, when we used it, it filled up to over 35 people. We left the area and complained to the pool manager who literally stood 6 inches in front of my wife's face and almost called her a liar.
When we complained to the hotel manager she was not at all interested and attempted to 'buy us off' with some cosmetic samples and an overpriced bottle of fizz.
The dinning room was run largely by new or untrained staff who brought the wrong food to our table. When a knife was knocked too the floor by our server he simply picked it up and handed it back to us.
My criticism of the hotel seemed to be mirrored by other guests.
When we arrived home I e-mailed the hotel with my concerns and pictures but have not had any acknowledgement some 3+ months later.
I would welcome a response from the hotel. Myles Ryan.
Really poor for the price
We paid just shy of £300 per night, and we got the following:
* Nobody answering the reception phone regularly.
* The "Queen bed" was actually two singles pushed together.
* The TV had no apps, no streaming services or options, just basic terrestrial which is of course awful.
* Food was very poor - my main course was ridiculously salty and some elements were precooked.
* Cocktails were wrong, missing elements (espresso martini with no coffee liqueur?).
* We couldn't get into the pool / spa without booking, then you only get a 45-minute lot. Most slots were already taken.
* Breakfast also required prebooking and we couldn't get in at all before 09:00!
* Virtually no info present in the room; we had to look on the website to find basic info.
* Grounds were very dishevelled, they needed a good sweep at the very least.
* Checking out they tried to get us to pay again because they had no record of our booking through hotels.com. We were in a rush so had to preauth the full amount again then hope they were honest about how much to take for additional items (they were, thankfully).
Many of these problems seemed to be caused by a lack of staff; it often seemed like there was a skeleton staff of teenagers struggling their way through. I have some sympathy given the current hiring problems everyone is having, but it wasn't a cheap hotel and there are other issues that are not about staffing (like way too many rooms for such limited facilities) so it's still a 2-star review.
We had such a lovely stay here
We had such a lovely stay here, in the cottage at the end of the grounds. Lovely helpful staff, and nice walk to the seaside (along a walking track).
The only sad part of the stay was the Jacuzzi was cold on the first night due to covid cleaning - they told us it takes 12 hours to heat up.
I Would still highly recommend a visit.
Please don't go to this hotel.
Please don't go to this hotel.. it's a total waste of money.. I went for a friend's birthday Saturday 19th Sept. there was a group of us.. i have never felt so unwelcome ever in a hotel. I sent an email to them..Ive had no reply.. surprise surprise. What a waste of my money and my friends.. the male manager was an absolute.. disgrace to his profession. WASTE OF MONEY.. would like a discount of refund

Absolutely appalling service from The Cornwall. Booked a room last minute through their website. Was confirmed via email including booking reference, called the hotel to confirm it had come through. Was told when I called that they thought someone may have also been trying to book the same room at the reception. After booking was confirmed and I had started to drive to the hotel I was called again to say the room was available by error and that it should not have been listed for sale. Apparently the room needed maintenance on it (however) I would suggest this is actually because someone else was making a fuss at reception ‘in person’. Not the type of service I would expect from a hotel of this caliber and we definitely shall not now return in the future.
Lodge stay - would recommend
Stayed in a lodge rather than hotel which was lovely - perfect- clean - well stocked nice welcome pack on arrival. We liked the hotel bar - Pool is lovely - spa could be a bit more dynamic as in we checked pool opening times night before but were not told there was a class in the pool at 915 if we hd been would have used the pool earlier - few spare appointments In spa for the next day so best to book before you go - very good experience would retur
