This is tricky because the quality of the meat is very good, but the packaging lets it down somewhat. The overall packaging is very good, but it’s the individual items that need to be improved. One of... See more

About The Fat Butcher

Written by the company

The Fat Butcher founded in 2014 is meat supermarket which has 2 stores in the North East of England, 3 in the South East of England and an online meat delivery service

Our online store focuses on top-quality cuts of meat. We source our chicken, beef, pork, and lamb from the best possible sources, so you can create your perfect bundle or selection with the confidence that every element is of the highest standard.

We deliver across the entire mainland UK.

Our History

The Fat Butcher is the brainchild of our founder Mark, a butcher with over 30 years of experience in the industry. Starting as an apprentice butcher in the Dewhurst’s Butchers of Leeds, Mark quickly climbed his way up the ranks before finding himself in a Microbiology training program in Northampton. It was here that he truly got to know meat on a deeper, more scientific level.

After leaving Dewhurst’s, Mark ran the gamut in the retail butchery industry, with positions in traditional butchers, supermarket operations, and town centre market stalls. After years of working in the physical sector, Mark considered that maybe there was a better way.

That’s when The Fat Butcher was born, conceived as an online butchers and meat delivery service that would allow customers to receive personalised and pre-prepared meat boxes straight to their door. No more chancing it on what the butcher had in. No more walking home with heavy bags of meat. Just premium, top-quality cuts of meat delivered straight to your door.

Refund all our money!!!!!

After my partner emailed you directly to sort out our order that never arrived like you asked, you told us we would get it delivered again to which we picked the day we wanted so we would be in. Again nothing. Then finally you gave in to giving us a refund. Today we received an email to say that our refund would be given within the next few days. £ 8.99
The delivery fee. Are you absolutely taking the micky out of us. This order was for £181.89
What sort of business are you running. We have received nothing and all you are refunding us is the delivery fee. No goods received. So you’re keeping the rest of the money on what basis??
This is by far the worst company I’ve ever ordered from. Daylight robbery. I’ll be contacting my bank and I’ll be making a phone call to trading standards. How you can steal people’s hard earned money is beyond me. Disgusting behaviour from a business owner!!!!

If I could give zero stars i would

If I could give zero stars i would. I have ordered from The Fat Butcher a few times and was really happy with the meat. My last order however, was not delivered to the correct property and left outside another block of flats in a busy area. The parcel was never received. I contacted The Fat Butcher and was asked to complete a form, this was done within 24 hours. Dispute numerous chasers no response was received until today. A member of the team called Darren emailed to say what do I expect the courier to do if I was not home? Well not only was someone home waiting on the delivery, the delivery driver buzzed the incorrect block of flats and left the parcel outside the incorrect block of flats. Also, this was left in direct sunlight. The customer service is disgusting, a right shame really as the meat itself it good. I will be going elsewhere and also telling family and friends to do the same.

App is easy to use and order delivery…

App is easy to use and order delivery of top quality meat. Meat is well packaged and turns up as scheduled 99%of the time. Ive had one order that was delayed, I was informed several days in advance and was given options. The price and quality are both superior to any supermarket store. One change i would like to see is having more bolt on items , it is sometimes difficult to get to the required delivery amount when you can only order one offer item.

Gone downhill

I have used fat butcher and over the last few times I have ordered the quality of meat has gone downhill, some items when open the same day as it had been delivered were off, steaks were horrendous had no meat on them. I have made the decision stop using fat butcher and I have gone elsewhere for my meat

I love your meat

I love your meat . The only time I’ve had to moan was not the last order , but the one before I had to throw half away it have been believed at 12 midnight it was warm and I put it in the freezer thinking it was ok . I didn’t find it on my door stop until 5 when I wake up had to through all the dog food out and almost all the human grade stuff . I did inform fat butcher twice heard nothing it didn’t put me off buying they still have beautiful meat . It was human error

Shoddy workmanship by some of your butchering staff.

Unfortunately the pork loin joints were a great disappointment in both the last delivery and the one previous. I had one last Sunday which was just a piece of meat with the fat attached stuffed into some netting with another lump of fat stuffed in obviously to make up the weight. The previous one was a roll of meat with the fat and skin in the middle of the roll. I didn’t know there was any fat until I carved the meat. I appreciate the work you do sourcing quality meat at good prices, unfortunately you are being let down by the unprofessional scruffy work of some of your butchers.
