Excellent class!

I recently took a Reformer Pilates Strength class with Scott, and it was honestly one of the best sessions I’ve experienced. Scott strikes the perfect balance between challenging and supportive. He pushes you to get the most out of every movement while still making sure your form is spot-on and you feel comfortable throughout.

His instructions are clear, motivating, and easy to follow, even when the exercises get tough. You can tell he genuinely cares about helping everyone improve, no matter their fitness level. The class was intense in the best way full-body, energising, and incredibly effective.

I left feeling stronger, more stable, and already looking forward to the next session. Highly recommend Scott to anyone wanting a high quality, results-driven Pilates class!

Do Not Freeze your account at The Gym…

Do Not Freeze your account at The Gym Group - 100% waste of money. First how come freezing your account comes at a cost of £7/mo for not using the gym equipment. Absolute fraud basically stealing people's money. Makes zero sense to pay £7 every month for the "privilege" being a fool trying to keep your account active while you should always choose terminate your account and when you want to start going to the gym just pay £10 joining fee once. Although joining fee is also a scam to your money - Why?!

I love the Guildford gym,I train with Danny Baker, I have lost weight and feel better than I have for a long time,Danny knows how to motivate me to finish the session and do my best, he is kind and very fit himself, if I could give him 10 stars I would

Good gym but bad for classes

It’s a great gym but the class timetable is so inconsistent a class happens one week and then never again. And it’s impossible to book any form of Pilates class and almost all the other classes are now very often booked. They keep doing relentless Pilates inductions when only 6 can come to a class and they are literally never bookable I have no idea how anyone books onto the classes. There’s no penalty to not turning up to a class so people just don’t or cancel too last minute for you to book on. I think the gym itself is good but the class situation is really frustrating.

Low level of staff

In this gym, very few PTs are good enough to teach. They take advantage of inexperienced clients, who don't know when they might be hurting themselves. This to me is unacceptable from every point of view.

I absolutely love this gym

I absolutely love this gym—it’s by far my favourite of all The Gym Group locations, much better than Woking and Farnborough. The atmosphere is great, and the classes are fantastic. I always see Danny keeping the place spotless, and the variety of sessions on offer is brilliant.

The reformers are a fantastic addition, with different class options including Strength, Mind & Body, Sculpt, and Cardio. Cardio is my personal favourite—it’s an intense challenge that really pushes me. I did Scott’s Cardio Pilates last week, and it was absolutely brutal—I was dripping with sweat! I enjoyed it so much that I’ve already booked in for next week.

Huge thanks to the Guildford team—keep up the amazing work!

I would not recommend this gym to anyone!

It's been a nightmare getting in touch with The Gym Group in Guildford and I would not recommend this gym to anyone!

02/09/2024 I received a behavioral warning email from The Gym Group about conducting a personal session (which is not true).
I responded to this email the next day and went to the gym in person that evening to train and speak to the manager hoping to clearing things up and was surprised when my PIN was blocked! Without any warning. - I tried to speak to a member of staff but saw no one around. I called them - no answer. I waited at the door for about 30min and no one came to speak to me, so I left.

The next day (Wednesday) I called again at 4:43pm. The lady who answered the phone advised me to try going to the gym again and speak to the staff as they would be the only ones who could remove the block on my PIN. I was unable to go back there the same day due to work.

On Thursday, September 5th, I decided that I would just ask them to cancel my membership because I was no longer happy and comfortable going there. I didn't find them to be professional and the lack of support completely turned me off. So I wrote a second email, as follows:

"As I have not received any response on this matter, I would like to request cancellation of my membership for the following reasons:
1- I was accused of doing something I never did.
2- I was not given the chance to speak.
3- My PIN was blocked without my knowledge or notice.
4- I have not received any support or assistance on this matter.
5- I feel like my integrity has been violated.
6- I do not agree with The Gym Group's approach.

Again, I received no response.

Saturday 7th, I went to the gym AGAIN - my PIN was still blocked, I couldn't get in. I waited at the main door for another 30min, ringing the bell several times and got no answer. So once again I had to leave, feeling extremely embarrassed and frustrated.

10/09/2024 - I have just spent another 20 minutes of my life on the phone (0300 303 4800) where the only thing I asked for was to cancel my subscription and get a refund as I paid £319.00 Upfront on my credit card on 08/08/2024 - and believe it or not the answer I got was:

- Unfortunately, we can't process this because we only deal with monthly subscriptions. (WHAT?). - I questioned: What should I do then? Who should I talk to? Who can help me?
And the surprising answer was: - I don't know. (By the way, I have all the recordings).
At the end of this useless conversation, he advised me to email The Gym Group again (for the 3rd time) and wait for their response.
My question is: HOW LONG WILL THIS TAKE? It's been already a week!

It's unbelievable how quick they are to sell you products, accuse you of something and send you thousands of marketing emails every day, but when you NEED their support, request a cancellation or ask for any kind of assistance, they just disappear, completely.

In 10 years of training, I have never experienced anything like this.

***HEALTH HAZARD*** Yanga Sports Water…

***HEALTH HAZARD*** Yanga Sports Water machines not working and looking a mess / dilapidated and unsightly. Should anyone be drinking from or using a machine in this state ?

The machine in Guildford has not been working for weeks, this is a public health issue as fluids/liquids have been sitting stagnant in the pipes/machines for weeks. Yanga are obviously unable to support or maintain the machines they supply, their response is “we are working on it” when obviously they are not.

The Gym Group have ignored my information requests via their ridiculous automated contact system.
Not only that but we are paying for a product we are not receiving.

***Request for more information 5/7/24… i have tried using “The Gym Group” contact us twice, with no response.
The manager and his team at Guildford work extremely hard, i see them in action almost daily. However, I'm pretty sure the manager at Guildford did not sign any service level agreement with Yanga.
Your gym managers need the support of their leadership head office. Clearly Yanga require a corporate kick !
Im afraid some technician rocking up with an orange box to sit on and a potato peeler (no spares) to fix this machine does not satisfy any service agreement.
Please please support your gym managers, they are as frustrated as your customers, customers paying for a service they do NOT receive.***

We can confirm that a new touchscreen monitor has been ordered and we are currently waiting for this to be delivered before replacing our existing one.

We are also working with Yanga Water to have a new machine delivered before the old one is replaced. We will also be cleaning, flushing, rinsing, and sanitising the new one before it is made available for use.

Danny Baker’s classes

Danny Baker’s 6:30am classes (HIIT and Tabata) are the only reason I get out of bed before 7 on Tuesday and Friday mornings. They are high intensity and really encourage me to push myself. I have seen improvements in my strength and stamina and it really energises me for the day. Danny is really encouraging and creative at finding ways to pack so much into such a short amount of time. His classes are really fun and exciting. They sometimes have the same structure, but other times, you walk in and you don’t know what to expect but you know it’s going to be hard work and very rewarding. He is an amazing trainer - super motivating ; he knows our strengths and how to convince us to take on that slightly heavier weight or do the slightly more advanced move. Insanity is also one of the best classes I have ever done and the most intense, and I love every minute, even if it ends with a 4 minute wall sit! Keep pushing us Danny, you are the best :D

Great gym

I have been member for over a year and I love this gym. Everyone is very friendly, you find some great equipment and so many classes to choose from. I am a fan of circuits, Hiit classes and LBT classes. They also have some classes with external instructors- yoga and Zumba (Zumba with Debbie is great, it is like a dance lesson with lots of salsa moves). It is great that the gym is open 24/7

Second to none

The gym group Guildford is clean, welcoming and spacious.
Had a PT (Danny) for a year and whilst it was hard, with Danny’s help we achieved exactly what we wanted to achieve. Danny’s classes are tough but worth every minutes. I have gained strength and a few friends along the way.
Showers spotless, WC spotless, machines alway clean, went for a run the other day the manager and staff were making sure all equipment + floor was clean.
Don’t know about you but it makes me feel comfortable to know that its all clean so thank you to the whole team at the gym group Guildford 😁
