not really a gym for serious resistance training. A lack of plate loaded chest machines ( for those prefering these to free bars), means that the one and only Smiths machine is over booked with all t... See more

We're not like other gyms... We won’t tie you into a contract or charge you a fortune every month. That’s because we believe that fitness should be accessible to everybody, regardless of shape, size, fitness level, background or attitude. We’re for everyone who’s had enough of the unbelievably-expensive-monthly-contract gym, or the make-me-feel-judged-the-moment-I-walk-through-the-door gym. Affordable, high-spec, nationwide gyms, that make absolutely everybody feel welcome. Whatever your starting point, and wherever you want to go, we can help.

Courtney Yeo is the nicest fitness…
Courtney Yeo is the nicest fitness instructor for classes! 💕They are kind, motivating and supporting during intense sessions!
Poorly managed with health and safety concerns
This review relates to the Oldham gym.
The air conditioning has been broken for a long time, and instead of repairing it, management has left 5–6 buckets in the middle of the gym to collect leaking water. This is not only unacceptable but also raises obvious health and safety concerns.
The gym is poorly maintained. Machines are regularly out of order, and dumbbells and weight plates are constantly left scattered around, creating unnecessary trip hazards and reflecting a lack of basic housekeeping.
These issues have persisted for months and the gym has gone from bad to worse. Management appears unwilling to address even the most basic maintenance and safety issues, which speaks volumes about both the local and senior management teams.
Members pay for a safe, clean, and well-maintained facility. Unfortunately, this gym falls well short of that standard.
Absolute thieves of an organisation
Absolute thieves of an organisation, make it hard to cancel and don't notify having to cancel basically a week before the next payment. Don't give out refunds for accidental payments. A sorry excuse for a gym
Rude workers , not nice
Rude workers , one the lady workers bumped into with weights didn’t say sorry, moreover she looked quite angry and pissed at me why was I there even tho I had hidden disabilities.
Won’t be coming back very bad gym ,
Male toilets always dirty and not clean.
The gym stinks.
Great gym
Great gym, I go to Ali Aram classes which are always fab classes, he also pays a lot of attention to making each class different but equally challenging . His PT session are also very good. He has helped me lose weight. Tone up and gain confidence in the gym area. He is professional and support in all areas. I would highly recommend him to anyone thinking of training with a personal trainer.
The gym itself is ok but frequently…closures sucks
The gym itself is ok but frequently closures for upgrades every month sucks, sometimes 2 days a month and sometimes 7 days in a month is too much,
The gym Hartlepool
great atmosphere
great atmosphere, everyone friendly and not judgemental
Equipment well maintained
locker rooms clean and tidy
They have a staff member who laughs…
They have a staff member who laughs like a banshee every now and then, it's annoying working out and then a really loud laugh comes from nowhere a truly stuck up person. The staff are very selective with who they like and there's a miserable one walking around who just spoils the atmosphere. I guess there are 2 staff members approachable but the rest thumbs down.
There is only ONE stomach press
There is only ONE stomach press machine, groups of people could linger around it while you are waiting to use it and the staff never challenge them.
Maintenance is poor, a clothes hook on the back of the shower door and they will close the shower. They need a dedicated maintenance crew as equipment always requires fixing
The gym group
The gym group
I highly recommend this gym. It’s great value for money, with affordable membership fees and a wide range of good-quality equipment. The gym is clean, well maintained, and has everything you need for a great workout. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, making it a great place to trainer
Only Hack squat machine will greatly if the gym group add.
Should have checked reviews on here…
Should have checked reviews on here because signing up. Machine broke when using and left me shaken. Staff were not concerned and I am thinking of taking legal action
Don't expect any support from the staff or customer services
Relatively cheap, convenient to me, with a good range of equipment. Unfortunately, they fail in terms of customer service and in the performance of their app, which, for their Bloomsbury Gym, doesn't record either your visits or their duration,
They make it actively difficult to…
They make it actively difficult to cancel so they can scam you out of additional months on the membership.
Leyton Mills Gym is shit…
Leyton Mills Gym…
This is a shit gym. I’m on the off-peak which is now £27 which is not the UK’s cheapest as they continually blurt out.
The showers are piss-poor and very weak in terms of strength of water shooting out.
The lockers are shite and can be forced open by anyone with a screw driver so your things are not secure at all.
People hog lockers for months, especially the big ones which is unfair.
Also, the music is shite. In fact, why have music when people have their own personal music and ear buds???
One star but would have given lower if available.
Let’s hope I win the £250 they’re offering for the review!
The staff here are terrible
The staff here are terrible. The only PT that knows what he is doing is the guy specialising in power lifting. Got told off for benching without the collars on the bar as apparently it’s a health and safety risk, meanwhile there was a man benching next to me and he wasn’t told to use the collars. I understand that there are rules, but if you are going to enforce them you got to have the same rules for everyone. This place has really gone downhill since Chris the old manager left.
Update- have now been presented with an email that I have breached the rules and it’s been noted. Does it actually say anywhere that I must have the collars on the bar? My issue is being told off when the man next to me was also benching without the collars on his bar. My 2 star review is now going to be changed to one star!
The Gym Group
**The Gym Group – Staples Corner Review**
I was a long-standing member of The Gym Group, Staples Corner, and unfortunately my overall experience reached a point where I decided to leave and join another gym.
This review is not intended as a personal attack on The Gym Group as a whole. I understand that other branches may be very different, and for some people this gym may be suitable, especially if they are looking for something affordable and basic. However, based on my personal experience at the Staples Corner branch, I no longer felt it was the right environment for me.
My main concerns were around overcrowding, hygiene, equipment availability, gym etiquette, staff approachability and how my final situation was handled by local management.
The gym was often overcrowded, with too many members for the amount of available equipment. This regularly meant waiting around for machines or feeling rushed while using them. At times, the atmosphere felt more like people were competing for equipment rather than training in a respectful shared space.
Hygiene was also a consistent concern for me. In my experience, many members did not clean equipment after use, and there did not always appear to be enough basic facilities available for members to properly wipe machines down. The men’s changing room and toilet area were also not always maintained to the standard I would expect, especially given the number of people using the gym. The smell in that area was often unpleasant, and I witnessed poor hygiene habits from some members, including people leaving the toilet area without washing their hands.
Another issue for me was the general atmosphere. There are many younger members who may be starting their fitness journey, which is fine, but in my opinion there needs to be more guidance, supervision or induction around gym etiquette, especially for those who may not fully understand how to behave in a shared training environment. There were times when the gym felt more like a social space than a focused training environment.
I should also say that not every member of staff gave me a negative impression. There was one lady who worked there and also did personal training sessions who was always approachable, friendly and good-spirited. She brought a bit of warmth and humour into the gym, and her sessions always seemed enjoyable and positive. She was one of the few people there who made the environment feel more welcoming.
However, outside of that, I did not generally find the staff or management particularly approachable.
The final reason I left was due to how a situation involving my own specialist training equipment was handled. I have wrist issues and carry a small bag containing personal grips and attachments that help me train safely and properly. I had used this equipment for a long time without issue.
On the day in question, the manager approached me while I was mid-training on the treadmill and questioned me about my bag and equipment. I felt this was not the right time or manner to address the issue. A respectful conversation after my session would have been far more appropriate. Instead, I felt interrupted, challenged and spoken to in a way that came across as aggressive.
What made it more frustrating was that other people in the gym, including staff and trainers, appeared to have bags or equipment with them without the same issue being raised. That made the situation feel inconsistent and unfair from my perspective.
The matter then escalated to my membership being suspended, which left me feeling uncomfortable and no longer respected as a member.
I raised my concerns with The Gym Group and sent follow-up emails, including requests for clarification around my membership, complaint and personal data. Unfortunately, I did not receive the level of response or communication I would have expected.
Since leaving, I have joined another gym where my training needs and wrist issues have been listened to and respected. That has confirmed to me that moving on was the right decision.
To be clear, I am not telling anyone not to join this gym. Everyone has different needs and expectations. If you want a low-cost gym and are comfortable with a busy, high-volume environment, it may work for you. But if you are a serious trainer looking for space, cleanliness, equipment availability, good etiquette, approachable staff and a more mature training atmosphere, my personal view is that Staples Corner may not be the best fit.
This is simply my honest experience, shared so others can make their own informed decision.
There are not enough words…
There are not enough words to describe the gym staff team personal trainers & cleaners within the Gym Group Hall Rd. I’ll try, unforgettable approachable helpful inspiring motivational friendly funny, the place is immaculate, they all mop in! Love the Blues Brothers 🕶🕶
The gym is always very clean and well…
The gym is always very clean and well maintained, which makes it a pleasant place to work out. The equipment is good, and the overall atmosphere is great. However, it would be really helpful if more classes could be offered in the afternoons, as not everyone is able to attend the morning sessions due to work or other commitments. Adding afternoon classes would make the gym more accessible and convenient for many members.
Rules dont seem to apply to staff who…
Rules dont seem to apply to staff who treat the gym like their own tv studio for their social media, tripods everywhere and machines reserved out. A few of the trainers also seems to also think workingout topless is acceptable. Overall the place is a mess, groups kids using it as a hangout. There are better friendly gyms nearby
