The Gym Group - London East Croydon Reviews 52

I been a member at this gym for years. It’s super busy, so if you using it after work hours it’s impossible to have good session. Most of times is dirty, specially wc and changing rooms, broken soap dispensers, no normal soap, they put water with tiny bit of soap in it, that smells like chlorine. No feminine hygiene products available to buy. And no matter how many times you tell this to customer service, nobody cares. Some machines been broken, but as they still sort of work, nobody is fixing them. After refurb layout is worse, blocked windows, lack of mirrors. Trainers don’t care also, so all weight are all over the place, they don’t tell members to put weights back on racks. Seen members with dirty work shoes and so on.. nobody says anything.
The only good thing is price, as it’s cheap.

I enjoy my local Gymgroup gym but I don’t understand why the music has to be so loud. Most people have their headphones on and I don’t know anyone who likes the music being played. When there is a class, they won’t even turn off the main gym music, so you have two soundtracks going on at the same time. It is awful. Other than this it is a pretty good gym. Sometimes the shower floor area isn’t as clean as it could be and the mats also because not everyone sees the no shoes sign. I think more signs are needed. There could also be signs advising gym goers not to have speaker phone conversations or play music or videos on their phones without ear phones because some people are quite inconsiderate or insensitive in this way. The new vending machines are incredibly slow .i much preferred the old style where you could see immediately what was on offer and also pay with coins as well as card. Still, in general a lot of positives for this gymgroup chain.

My only issue is the ventilation. It smells bad as in a mixture of sweat, dirty clothes and someone’s morning breath. Since the new gym design, it’s been like this. Now that a lot of the windows are covered by fake walls it’s not the best I must say

The gym in east Croydon is dirty ,machines not maintained and when breaks are not available for long time .Changing areas, especially the toilets area not clean and smells of urine.Brocken soap dispensers or no soap.I am a member of your gym group since over 10 years and have noticed that you don’t care about the cleanliness that much any more .

I got physically harassed by a member he was drunk inside the gym !

The disgusting thing is that there was a gym group staff member there and he sat and did nothing

And the more disgusting is that they did not reply to my emails regarding safety

How do they just let drunk people inside the gym

Have been a member at the East Croydon branch for years. They recently did a makeover and blocked up half of the windows. Hate it now. Feels like you are training in a basement now.

Sad, probably going to change gym.

Such a shame about the ‘upgrade’ at East Croydon. Nearly all the windows are now covered up, it feels smaller and more crowded, with the first machine now only 4 steps away from the entrance. All the treadmills are lined up to face a wall of mirrors. That’s the last thing you want to see, especially if you have anxiety about going to the gym in the first place. They’re also smaller and in a closer proximity which means you have the persons elbows next to you, almost hitting you. Unfortunately my friends and myself are considering finding another gym that hopefully doesn’t look as ‘cluttered’ with more natural light, as this gym once had.

First of all there is no air conditioning for about 2 months now , 🤬
The tanga water machine is not giving same amount of water as before 😏
But you change me same money
At least you should let as known!!!!
What compensation am I going to get for this?

Clean and functional optimally

ridiculously everyone leaves the weights on the equipment and out of place and when I leave something out of place for a morning I get an email saying about my behavior.
This is unacceptable, I see things misplaced and weights left on machines EVERY day, I repeat, every day.

All machines need maintenance, all machines exception. everything is dirty and I don't see any intention of gym to change that.

It is great. The team, the equipment. It is a friendly and safe atmosphere. What would make it perfect for me?

Affordable quality gym with large space and lots of equipment.

Unfortunately, the male toilets, the toilet door being wedged open, smells foul. Large numbers of user using the toilet to clean their bodies? Making it unbearable to use. The stench also then fills the changing room area.

It’s a lovely gym with great people around. Staff is always really helpful . Facilities greats . I’d defenestro y re commend it to everyone !!

The gym group east croydon management is as poor as management can be!

My membership was permanently terminated because I did some pad work with my friend (his membership got terminated too), without anyone approaching us to give us a warning of any sort first!

On top of this, I have tried to contact the gym group via email and they did not respond to me at all. How unprofessional is this?! Shockingly unprofessional!
