We're not like other gyms... We won’t tie you into a contract or charge you a fortune every month. That’s because we believe that fitness should be accessible to everybody, regardless of shape, size, fitness level, background or attitude. We’re for everyone who’s had enough of the unbelievably-expensive-monthly-contract gym, or the make-me-feel-judged-the-moment-I-walk-through-the-door gym. Affordable, high-spec, nationwide gyms, that make absolutely everybody feel welcome. Whatever your starting point, and wherever you want to go, we can help.

Worst experience
Worst experience my pin is not working so i trying to to touch with any staff member i call them so many time and they cut my call didn’t answer my any call one member attend call and he say unfortunately we can’t help right know staff is busy i am waiting for so long and no one came to sort out my problem so i came back home without doing workout
Long-standing member — ignored and dismissed
I have been a member at The Gym Group Watford on and off since the gym opened. Over the years I have seen a steady decline in how members are treated, and have watched people leave permanently because of it.
The Thursday 10:30 AM class was recently cancelled with no prior notice or member consultation. A group of us regular attendees wrote a formal email to the branch manager requesting reconsideration — we received no reply whatsoever, and the class was cancelled anyway.
I then escalated to head office, who responded by simply redirecting me back to the same branch management that had already ignored us. This is not a resolution.
Cancelling classes without consulting members has become a pattern at this branch. Loyal, long-standing members deserve better than to be ignored and passed around. I genuinely hope head office takes this seriously, because the Watford branch is losing good members who have been there from the beginning.
Claases at Northampton Central
Just completed a session teaching how to lift . Great company, knowledgeable trainer, good atmosphere overall. Very happy with the Gym Group @Northampton Central.
I was physically threatened when I was…
I was physically threatened when I was entering the gym by two customers. I told the member of staff who was literally metres away and he did precisely nothing. I then told the manager and he did nothing - indeed he actually laughed. I hear he is supposed to manage another gym. lordy lol
What a joke this company is
What a joke this company is. Despite having a decent gym. Their terms and conditions are annoying. If you wish to cancel your subscription you need to cancel your direct debit 5 days before. Once you cancelled your direct debit. You lose access to gym immediately despite having a week access left lol. Until, you call customer support. The guy there will tell you this in the most condescending tone like it's universal truth. When the fact is it's silly. Never have I heard this nonsense anywhere outside the UK.

I paid for a subscription 6 days ago and today they cancelled my subscription for no reason.
The punching bag still hasn't been…
The punching bag still hasn't been replaced, so I spoke to the gym staff about it, and their response was that it's the second one they've replaced and supposedly there's no money for another. That's what I gathered 😬. It's unbelievable that a gym in the center of Edinburgh on Princes Street doesn't have the money to replace it. I don't believe it, do you?
I love sean!
I love sean!!
I got to a lot of his classes and they are great, very challenging but great😮💨😮💨
Sean isn't my PT but he is such a great and genuine person. He will help anyone and everyone.
He has this aura about him that just shouts friendly!!
He is a good friend and is always there for me when i need him, even if its just a friendly ear or a moan after having a bad day, he always makes time no matter what he is doing!!
Keep it up Sean you the bestest💪💪
Great gym
Great gym! Been coming for years now, excellent manager and team, always helpful and gym always clean
All round excellent gym
Brilliant equipment, friendly environment, brilliant staff... all round excellent gym
A perfect place to work out at any time👏
I’ve been going to this gym for a while now and I’m really happy with my experience. The gym is very well equipped — you can find everything you need, from cardio machines to free weights, which makes it suitable for all types of workouts.
One of the biggest advantages is that it’s open 24/7, which is perfect if you have a busy or unpredictable schedule. The gym is always clean and well maintained, creating a comfortable environment to train in.
The staff are friendly, approachable, and always ready to help, which adds to the overall positive atmosphere.
Overall, it’s a great gym that offers excellent value for money. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and well-equipped place to train.
DO NOT JOIN if you work 9-6
I have been a member of this gym since the day it opened, but my experience lately has been nothing short of a nightmare.
My account was suddenly disabled due to a "PIN sharing" allegation something I have never done.
While I understand gyms have security protocols, the way this has been handled is utterly unprofessional and logically flawed. I was sent an email telling me to speak to management between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM. However:
The manager is never there: They consistently leave at 4:00 PM.
The hours are impossible: I work a 9–6 shift. There is zero flexibility for working professionals to resolve issues.
It feels like they have effectively banned me by creating a "resolution" process that they know I cannot attend. My training has completely stalled, and as someone who takes their fitness seriously, this is devastating.
Being a member since day 1 clearly means nothing to this team. If you have a job or expect any kind of professional communication when an error occurs, stay away from this gym. They are quick to take your money but will lock you out and ignore you the moment a "system" flag pops up.
AVOID!
AVOID!! Gym group removed my discount and charged me an extra £10 per month on top!!! There website says you can use any gym at any time, this is FALSE ADVERTISING! Poor location spots. They advertise all these gyms but only have 1 for most of Manchester??? How can you have 250+ gyms but ONLY 1 in Manchester (except city centre).
I am disappointed with the…
I am disappointed with the professionalism of The Gym Group trainers. It is difficult to understand how trainers can motivate others to achieve better physical fitness when they themselves clearly do not take care of their appearance and physical condition. In my opinion, a trainer should not only have knowledge, but also set a good example through their appearance and lifestyle. When you see a trainer who appears to be in poor shape, trust in their competence naturally decreases. I expected higher standards from a gym that focuses on health and fitness.

Brilliant gym
Joined this gym recently after a long period out with chronic health challenges - every trainer I've met so far through the classes has been brilliant, other members of staff also very welcoming and approachable, the place is consistently spotless and there's plenty of kit and locker space to go round (which was not the case in the previous gym I went to!) I was recommended this gym by a few people and I can see why, really happy to have joined
The Gym group has an extensive supply…
The Gym group has an extensive supply of machines that is well spaced unlike some others. Their apps allows me to see off-peak and peak periods, so I can select a time best suited to me.
Romford management is pretty good for reminding users to replace weights and equipment to keep safety as a priority and I quiet like that.
Expensive
It has become quite expensive for what they offer. Their gyms are not very clean, and the classes are taught by instructors who sometimes have no idea what they’re doing.
