I was scammed by True Lynx — a fake SEO company based in Austin TX that had a paid booth at the 2025 Small Business Expo in San Diego at the Sheraton. I had to file a credit card chargeback to recover my funds, but I never recovered the many hours of time I wasted.

When I contacted Small Business Expo to notify them of the scam, and to tell them they should do a better job vetting the companies they let exhibit, they were completely indifferent. They never bothered to respond at all — until threatening to sue me after I left negative reviews.

Smaill Business Expo is one of the best conferences for small business owners, entreprenuers, start uppers to attend and be part of in networking, lead generarion and referral program opportunities. It is also a chance to learn how up to date technologies can be utilized for the benefit of small business ventures. It is opportunity to hear success stories from other people who made in through Shark Tank or other venues. And it is an opportunity to showcase your professionalism to exhibitors to see if their products or services make sense for your business ventures...

Bait and switch website. You get an email about a local business expo. It says get prices. You go there. It has a form at the top and it says "Instantly Download Our Prices & Information". You give them your info on the form. It takes you to schedule an appointment for a sales pitch. Any business that believes the way to make sales is to fool your customers deserves a one star rating. I'll never attend their expo or buy anything related to them. I hate that companies have started to believe these types of practices are the new normal.
