Updated review (not at the vendor request and over a year after the purchase, because I forgot I wrote this till today!): The company accepted the return and though they charged a restocking fee, they were able to offer a discount on another - a more expensive - product that I was getting instead which about evened out the cost. I came out whole from this transaction and with a product that's right for me.
Thanks sales team at The Telecom Spot!
Original review: In the age of online shopping, where both shipping and returns are free (nothing is free, of course, but this standard practice is built into the business model) it's a sticker shock to read the fine print that unopened products see a 15% refund deduction and opened products loose 25% of their value on a "restocking fee", plus shipping costs.
Perhaps this is fine by someone shopping with a corporate credit card, but for a private individual spending their own hard earned cash this is a heck of a surprise. Be sure you know 100% what you plan to buy of you are gonna get only 75% of your money back.
