A community Pub like no other

Having moved, at the drop of a hat, from London to West Sussex I did not know what to expect or to look forward to. It became apparent within days and the following weeks that I had struck gold when it comes to human kindness and respect. This establishment makes time for its customers and offers a most exciting range of beverages and an extensive menu to suit all tastes. The entertainment offering is regular with something for everyone to get involved with. Summer events, without question, are a must ! Beyond that they well deserve the Community Pub Award which I have experienced at first hand when they came to my aid at home with defib and first aiders during a heart /chest complaint. I can not thank them enough. There's also much more they do for the community. The food is fantastic , very generous portions. The Sunday Lunch is that good, the customers are arriving ready for the doors to open so book ahead its well worth the experience. So I raise a glass to Tom, Oli and all the staff and say a huge thank you for all you do in providing a wonderfully unique experience to all your customers whether regulars or visitors to the area. Please visit there WEB site for full details and know this.... you won't be disappointed.

Unfriendly Landlord

Beautiful setting - awful landlord, rude, obnoxious, unfriendly and very willing to sell lots of dog treats then wanders around monitoring every last move they make. I’ve never seen so many signs in a pub telling you what you must do! God forbid anyone that does not clear their table when they’ve finished drinking or eating - you must take it back to the bar - the sign says with a please!
He’s too lazy to do it sitting outside having a smoke. Won’t ever ever go back there, you’ve been warned!

Said landlord who works 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, does very occasionally get to sit down for a couple of minutes! I walk an average of 15 miles a day during the summer without leaving the grounds of the pub, keeping everything clean and tidy for everyone to enjoy.

We have 1 sign that asks you to please return plates/glasses to the bar - we do this instead of charging the same high prices that many other local pubs do, and don’t charge service, because we want to keep the prices down for our customers rather than have to put them up to cover extra staff. Of course not everyone does this, and we are often clearing tables in the garden, but we are very grateful to those who do. We offer full table service indoors.

And no, I don’t wonder around monitoring your dog, but, we do have another sign that asks you to keep your dog on a lead and not to let it use our garden as a toilet, and you ignored both of those, as your dog followed me around the garden (and I asked you very nicely to put it on a lead) then tried to leave a bag of dog poo on our patio when you left (which I asked you very politely to go and pick up). Customers like to lay on our grass and enjoy it, they don’t want to end up laying in your dog mess. Neither I nor my staff wish to clear up dog mess.

Obnoxious Landlords & Chef - ghastly food!

Obnoxious Landlords & chef serving abysmal food at a huge cost. Nothing to like about this pub at all. Burgers were fried to an inch of their lives, cheapest toasted dry buns, Cheapest no brand cold cheese slice on the burger, lettuce that was older than Liz Truss’s premiership and all at a cost of £14.00++.

Then when you return the food as it was ghastly, the landlords & chef argued it was all wonderful???

They have no customer service at all.

How this rude team won county pub of the year is beyond me.

Avoid this pub like the plague.

Rather throw your money in a bin and set fire to it - you will enjoy this much more than their dry cheap burgers😫.
