Thistle hotel Heathrow Terminal 5
Really disappointed. I have stayed at the Thistle, Heathrow three or four times a year since 2011 as it is so convenient to get the pod to terminal 5. Now I have to look for another hotel. Reason is that they have introduced a limit on parking to 21 days and for those of us who intend to be away longer than that, I am told we have to turn up at the hotel and 'hope' that we can extend the parking. What are we supposed to do if there is no room to park? Flying etc is stressful enough without having to suddenly look for parking the evening before we fly.
Temperature control is non existent
The rooms are a bit tired along with the shower but they are functional BUT that is by far not the deal breaker. What is, is the air con. It is centralised and seems to do absolutely nothing. I finished a work event at midnight. Got to my room and it was 24 degrees in winter! There was also both a portable radiator in my room. Clearly this is a regular issue at this hotel as the staff did not bat an eyelid when raised.
The key point is, it can be incredibly uncomfortable if you get the wrong weather. At the price asked, it’s not luxury, but it’s not bargain basement either and the lack of AC and heating is an absolute shocker.
Poor experience
Stayed in the Thistle hotel Tower Bridge.
Rooms are tired looking and in need of updating, including the bathroom area. Furniture shabby. Room not as shown in the advertising pictures.
Booked a Standard double room through Trivago on arrival we were given a standard twin room. The manager was argumentive and said she was unable to change for a double room as the hotel was fully booked. We checked online ourselves and the hotel it self were advertising availble double rooms for the weekend along with both Trivago and Booking. Com.
When we showed the manager she said the advertising wasn't true. I said I didn't believe what she was saying. She then went away and came back saying we could have a double room.
Please be careful at point of booking.
The food however was lovely in the bar area.

Room furniture disgusting
Dead bloody fit in the bathroom light
Dirty wipe in windowsill
Woke up at 3 am 4am 6 am by doors slamming.
£8.25 each per person each way to use the pods.
Stayed in Thistle Tower Hotel
Stayed in Thistle Tower Hotel, Tower Bridge. Room was scruffy, aircon didn't work and the windows didn't open - very hot and uncomfortable. On the positive side, the breakfast was nice and they gave us a bottle of wine but it didn't make up for a sleepless night.
The hotel in Trafalgar Square is a…
The hotel in Trafalgar Square is a tosser. They didn't allow me to use the toilet until I order something to drink. Is this a hotel or begging place full of rude staff. They don't have any written policy which prevents potential customer to use the hotel facilities unless they order something. Unbelievable case in 2025 still not even able for them to identify potential customers. The guy from the reception not even able to maintain the professional posture and explain the reason behind. Straight way asking if I ordered something. Not recommended
Supper for two.
We had a Groupon voucher for supper for two and had no great expectations.
Although the dining area was entirely without atmosphere, and we were almost the only people there, the food was simple but surprisingly good and the service from Kim our waitress was excellent.
I stayed at Thistle hotel Luton
I stayed at Thistle hotel, the Mall, Luton. Great welcoming staff. Thank you to sunny for such an easy check in and you local knowledge. You are a credit to the company. Breakfast was fantastic. Well cooked and plenty of choice. Thank chef. Cleaning staff are very friendly and do a great job. Only fault was the room was incredibly hot due to a faulty thermostat on the radiator. Maintenance have been called.
Management ignore complaints
I booked two deluxe king rooms to treat my daughter for her 40th birthday in London. Our rooms were on different floors! My room was small, with a standard double bed, no coffee making facilities and a tiny bathroom. The room was tired. I was in a hurry on arrival as we were late for our appointment so decided to deal with it the next day.
When my daughter asked me about my room the next day I told her I was disappointed. She on the other hand was not. It was then I realised she had been given one of the rooms I had booked, I had not.
I asked the receptionist on checking out what type of a room mine was (509 if I recall). She told me it was a standard room. I explained the situation to her showing her my booking form. She said she could not refund me the difference (the rooms I had booked were £400 each). I asked to speak to the manager and she said he was not available, gave me his email address and that was that.
I emailed the manager. It is now 6 days since doing so and no response. All I was looking for was a refund on the difference between a Standard room and a Deluxe King Room, nothing more.
Very poor service. I will not use the Thistle group again
Horrifying
Horrifying. An absolute disgrace. People in power just a joke, unprofessional and mediocre
Major rant coming!!!
Major rant coming!!!
Absolutely disgusting service from Thistle Hotels London Piccadilly.
Booked a room for my parents on booking.com to pay at property. My parents arrived and made the payment on arrival. I went to use my bank card the following day after doing a food shop only to have my card declined at the check out. this was both embarrassing and worrying as I knew there was money in my account.
Upon checking my online banking I could see that the hotel had taken £350 out of my bank.
They had taken my mums card payment and also taken the money from my account. I rang the hotel to be told there was nothing they could do as it was the weekend and they were holding the money to then pay it back to me. So they left a single mum with no money in her bank.
My mum had been contacting the hotel daily since to be told different things each time and spoken to by staff that couldn’t care less. I still have not had my money back into my account. Anyone out there know a solicitor that can get me a letter sent out to them please?
Charged me again at the hotel
Charged me again at the hotel. used on line form, phoned no response at all. Tried many times.
Eventually the booking site managed to sort it out
The hotel was awful
The hotel was awful, the rooms were dated but the worst part was the bed and bedding. Mattress was hard, pillows were lumpy, one of the worst nights sleep I’ve ever had. Need to invest in the beds at least! Stayed Thistle T5 Heathrow hotel.

One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in I only chose thistle hotel as its near terminal 5 Heathrow on arrival in to my room looked so old and run down went to put the heating on not working went to charge my phone usb sockets not working was reported to reception offered a heater I would never book this hotel again poor value awful rooms
Find another place to stay
I’m staying at Thistle Piccadilly right now.
The hotel is located really good and that’s also about it.
The breakfast is not as good as is used to be.
The room stinks of shit. I have complained but nothing has happened. So find another place to stay, instead of going here.
It is the fourth time I’m staying here and also the last time.
SCAM, DO NOT STAY HERE!
I booked an Executive King room paying over £300 at thistle Holborn. The website states Executive king rooms are 30 SQM, have complimentary mini bar fridge and sofa bed.
The room I stayed in 522, didn't have a mini bar fridge and didn't have a sofa bed. The room was also small and decor not as shown on website.
I rang down to reception to check if I had the right room and the staff said no it's a Deluxe room and if I wanted an Executive room I would need to wait much longer. I stated that I booked an Executive room so I should receive what I paid for. She handed me over to the manager on duty (Umama) who stated that the room I was in is an Executive and the other staff member was mistaken.
I had to go down to reception, I asked where is the mini bar fridge and sofabed. She said not all Executive rooms have sofa bed and mini bar fridge even though the website clearly states that it does.
If a customer needed to put medication in a fridge and booked the executive room based on the fact the there is a fridge only to be told that some executive rooms have it and some don't, is NOT acceptable.
I also asked what is the difference between a Deluxe king room and Executive king room. She said just a Nespresso coffee machine. However on their website it states that both Deluxe king rooms and Executive king rooms have Nespresso coffee machines.
This hotel is FALSELY advertising on their websites and STEALING people's hard earned money.
They are pretending to be a 4 star hotel and are nowhere close, more like 2 or 3 stars. Late check out is £30 PER HOUR! Absolutely ridiculous, you are better off staying at a Travelodge where it's cheaper, better rooms and early / late check in/out is only a one off £10 payment.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY here, unhappy as I didn't get the room as described.
NEVER staying at a thistle hotel and will NEVER recommend anyone to stay here.
Nothing more to say that would be helpful…
Pass cant recommend unpleasant atmosphere very poor breakfast noisy area
Thistle London Heathrow Terminal 5 Hotel
I've read some of the other reviews and don't understand the negative feed back. I've stayed in a lot of hotels, this I would class as a budget hotel and therefore it was very good value for the price. My room was clean so was my bed, I slept well, what more do you want ?
the bonus was that I could sit on the balcony with a drink from the bar and watch the planes landing, got to be the best viewing area anywhere in the country, if you like watch planes that is. When I next need to fly from Heathrow I will definitely use this hotel again.

My air conditioner wasn’t working so I called the receptionist and they said it was working then 15min later it still wasn’t working then I called the receptionist again then they said it still isn’t fixed
Thistle Heathrow T5 lack of communication
Thistle Heathrow T5
Used before. This time horrendous service
The reception staff checked us in with no information on where the room was, or the restaurant location. Luckily we knew where to go as know the layout.
In the bar we asked for 2 drinks but the barmaid just stared at us and didn’t understand. We repeated our order another 2 times, even pointing and touching the item. Still she didn’t understand, and called for someone. After 5 minutes a man arrived and asked if he could help. We told him we had asked 4 times for a drink and was just being stared out. If she can’t understand English or even pointing at item, she should NOT be behind the bar. He wasn’t interested and when I complained to reception in the morning, there conveniently wasn’t a manager there. Totally spoilt a relaxing afternoon prior to our flight out the next day.
