I have not used these trousers so cannot give a performance assessment as yet, but i think they will be amazing. The quality as with all ThruDark products is fantastic and they fit very well, the sizing is very exact so will be worn over a base layer bottoms as intended. If you needed them to go over a thicker layer then I think a larger size would be needed?? Very happy customer, thank you.

Superb winter trousers. Very warm and water resistant do great for walks at altitude and exposed areas. Only changes that I would make would be to have an adjustable waist or a waistband that has a rubberised/tactile material on the inside. The reason is, the material that transfers are made out of is smooth and doesn’t grip so well and depending on the thickness of trousers you’re wearing underneath them, they can slip down quite easily. Being able to adjust them would make a big difference.
