Absolute crooks

Absolute crooks. Bought a car on finance, the had the money (10k) for a week and car still wasn’t ready, ended up telling them I was coming to pick it up the next day , got there and I couldn’t tax it as it wasn’t even m.o.t’d and had too wait 2 hours , car came back and looked the part. Set off down the motorway and had to slam on to find no breaks. Took it straight to my garage and they said it should have never of passed an m.o.t. Anti roll bar needed replacing, discs and break pads allround , dual mass flywheel needed replacement, fsh it apparently had was a load of rubbish as it hadn’t been serviced in 19thousand miles according to the book and the oil that came out. Dodgey steering rack the list goes on. Spending 10k on a car was a big deal to me and to find out I had to spend over £4000 on the car as top gear stoke limited would stand on any of it or even take the car back was damaging to me and my family. There crooks and there reviews from google have been removed and they have them on there website only showing 5* review which are probably forged anyways. PLEASE STAY CLEAR . And don’t get hurt like I did , never been so upset . Ps I’ve just finished paying for the work a year down the line.

Check the review history before buying!

The only positive reviews are by people who haven't dealt with their customer service or had product issues.

There are over 30 people with the same issue as me.

Context:
TopGear sold me a faulty product but refused to replace it unless I paid the shipping both ways.

Tess who runs Top Gear is the rudest person I've dealt with in years. She lied multiple times and contradicted herself in emails.

Alarmingly, Tess said that customers should immediately after purchasing products online let her know that they don't want the product to be faulty BEFORE she ships them. The logic in that position ridiculous. She said I was to blame for her sending me a faulty product....

I contacted the NZ reseller of the product to check that I wasn't going mad. They were so embarrassed by Top Gear's behaviour they sent me a replacement for free. Interestingly, the NZ reseller knew that it was Top Gear before I even mentioned their name...

Lastly, I collated all the online comments saying Top Gear and Tess are a rip off and sent it to the Commerce Commission. As the reviews state, Top Gear are an embarrassment to NZ. Do better.

Scammers

Bought some stuff from these guys a couple years ago. Most of the items arrived in the delivery except a 200 dollar hammock and a 40 dollar mess - tin this comprised about half the value of the order. No reply to emails, and when I contacted them by phone I was essentially yelled at, called a liar and hung up on. Seems to be a common theme with these scamming c**nts. Avoid at all costs!!

Refund issues/DO NOT ORDER VIA THIS COMPANY

Asking for a refund of product I shipped back to company. I am now on my 5th email to them for refund and they received my returned package over a week ago. When they do respond to emails it is with confusion -asking me which account I paid through???? It’s just PAYPAL! $80 go couch covers that were not as advertised- please avoid this company as they are unprofessional & crooks

Thieves and Liars

I have previously ordered without incident from this store but I ordered a very nice Knife for over 200 dollars for my son just before Christmas.
I received a parcel undamaged in the post a few days later but without any knife inside. Just the pouch and box. I reported this to Top Gear and was informed that 3 members of their family checked the box before sending and basically calling me a thief. I have been left in no doubt that this company is a fraud and will probably be shortly out of business. Absolutely do not deal with them. They are thieving scamming liars. Look at their other feedback. Don't just take my word. I suspect half of the positive reviews are from themselves.

Amateurish Service

Ordered an item via online which was promptly "lost in the system". Apparently orders are scrawled on napkins by the owners wife then thrown in a corner somewhere. I joke but the guy who runs this outfit actually did blame his wife for screwing up my order.
They had no problem taking my money though.
Short story: after weeks and weeks of delays I finally got an email stating that the product was not available.
Swore never to buy anything from these cowboys again.

Awesome

Awesome. Ordered a couple of folding knives (Svord peasant knives) and received them within 48 hours of paying.
One was for a gift so I am absolutely stoked to have it in such a short time.
I don't know what happened with the other reviews, but my experience here was top notch.
Thanks Top-gear!

Terrible service. Avoid like the plague.

Terrible service. Avoid like the plague. Had to chase up order only to be told item was out of stock - despite their website still offering it for sale! Took numerous phone calls to get things sorted. Received my goods in the end but I’m never using them again. Useless. 1/10 is bring generous.

Buyer beware

Confirmed with them before I purchased that the item would be sent, transferred my money, then the order was cancelled and they have ignored my requests for a refund. They insisted on direct credit into their bank account, so there's no way to get my money back!!

Frustrating and disppointing

Do not order from Top Gear NZ Outdoor Gear unless you are a citizen of New Zealand. My experience with this company has been one of utter frustration and disappointment. I ordered and paid for three items and the goods never came. I emailed Top Gear multiple times and rang before I was told they couldn’t supply the items and I would be given a refund. After more than a dozen emails and many more phone calls I still have no refund. The company will not respond to the emails or their webforms and also won’t answer the phone. NZ Consumer Affairs can’t assist because I am not an NZ citizen and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission can’t help either because the company is not Australian. Avoid having your money taken and not getting any goods and stick to reputable companies that provide a level of protection.
