Worst management i have ever seen

Worst management i have ever seen. Look like so many scammers in management team. Let scammers play and abuse the system and never take proper actions. Suggest to use other social platforms like FB marketplace.

Trademe or market place or website???

I see that a lot of people are very unhappy with trademe management. I have not had too many problems with them and I am a seller mainly. However the high fees for me and this included fees for shipping are making it expensive for each listing. Also ping payments cost me for each transaction. I prefer online banking still rather than 'Ping'. My sales have plummeted over the last 14 months on trademe and my website sales have taken off. I am very disappointed in trademe increasing their fees as much as they have. It used to be a great selling tool for my nursery plants and now it is terrible. There seems to be no good alternative. Facebook market place is free and all fine but you get mucked around a lot on this also with people not getting back to you. My website is great for selling!

Unfair Negative Feedback

A user sold a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to me for $1000 (the price in and of itself seemed too good to be true) but I had some trust in this seller because they appear to be a filmmaker. I purchased the item just a little before 11 PM on the 31st of December. The following day was New Year's and I had New Year's plans. I assumed if the seller wanted to contact me or were in a hurry to sell the item that they would email me. Turns out they entered my email address as .com instead of .co.nz so they went to the wrong place yet I now have negative feedback on my account all because this seller was super impatient and didn't send their emails to the right email address. They also purchased an item from me only to leave yet another negative feedback on my account. I have reported this to Trademe but they've done nothing. The seller was even able to resell the item to somebody else - hopefully the other buyer won't get scammed or have negative feedback placed on their account.

I am leaving this here to push Trademe to do the right thing and to push the seller to do the right thing as well. All my statements in this review are factually true. If this seller didn't want me to post this then they shouldn't have left negative feedback on my account unfairly and they most definitely should not have purchased one of the items I was selling just so that they could leave another negative feedback on my account.

This review will be removed upon removal of both negative feedback from my account. I have already disputed both instances of negative feedback. I am just awaiting a response from Trademe and their customer service just told me to wait when I contacted them. Because of the nature of this and the fact that they've managed to already find another buyer I feel like this is urgent in case they're dishonest and end up scamming this other buyer. I was not a timewaster like they claimed. I genuinely wanted to purchase the phone.

Trademe used to be great not anymore market place has taken over, there is no trust in trademe anymore just like market place so why pay trademe ripoff fees.
There is no customer service no help and no way to get any, they decive customers by removing bad feedback from there best customers. trademe you deserve to fail for abandoning your customers.

Doesn’t deserve 1 star.

Doesn’t deserve 1 star.
This platform does not protect the buyer or seller!!
Twice I’ve been scammed on here and no-one to call to complain to. They just refer you to a link which is unhelpful and then remove your ad without fair review. Their process is illegal and allows scammers to run their business. This is what NZ has come to. These are the kind of scum rampant in the country now, ready to rip people off.

Unsafe, unsavory, gone sideways

Posted baby toys for sale, really cute, low priced, with idea of helping another mum out there. Auction got purchased by an unhinged man. Within 4 hours of buying the items, he sent me 5 emails, demanding for me to call him and arrange pick up outside of the hours offered in the auction. I tried explaining to him that I have a small child hence I couldn't meet his demands, he wouldn't understand and the next day, he sent me another 6 emails, drove to the area of my place (without having any agreement), and demanded for me to magically appear with the goods.
This is Within less than 24hrs of bidding on the auction. Then, he decided to make a bank transfer and send me more emails, demanding again immediate calls and giving me ultimatums. I politely replie, calling him out on his aggressive behavior and explaining that harrasing another parent over second hand toys was just unacceptable.
I refunded the monies right away, sent the proof and ask him to stop contacting me.
I even wished him all the best and said "God bless" as I truly believe this person needs some time alone to reflect on his actions.
He sent an apologetic email and I thought that was the end of it
Next thing you know, he is harrasing me through trademe, of course left untrue negative feedback.
Trademe refused to refund the success fees even when I forwarded them the email chain and explained how unsafe the dude was making me feel. I mean, he works in Papakura and drove all the way to try coerce me into completing the transaction.
Trademe deleted my feedback for the buyer but left the negative feedback full of falsehoods.
Trademe is full of scammers, overseas dodgy stores, garbage and unhinged, entitled creeps.
Any person with a brain would see that if you sent 5 emails to a person and she stopped replying at email number 2, that means , that person doesn't want to interact with you. You don't drive to her area, demanding calls, making bank transfers and then send another 12 emails.
Unbelievable

TradeMe’s Buyer’s protection policy is…

TradeMe’s Buyer’s protection policy is a scam! I lodged a dispute report for a faulty item purchased recently. All the terms were met for my claim to be resolved with a replacement item or a refund. Instead, they failed to remediate the issue fairly and stated that they followed up with the seller who stated the issue must’ve been caused by misuse which was incorrect and that I will have to go to the disputes tribunal if I wanted to take the case further. I am so disappointed in TradeMe and if this situation were to happen with a direct purchase from a seller, they would’ve investigated and resolved this fairly. We will not be recommending nor using TM again in the future.

Account blocked for no reason

My friend and I wanted to buy a car for work and travel. We set up an account just to be kicked out of it a few hours later. They said that our email has to be verified but that’s bullshit because we already verified it in the beginning. After we made a second account and everything seemed to work, we got kicked out again one day later. We didn’t do anything wrong. Just because the website said we are probably scam. WE ARE NOT!!
we contacted the support but got no answers.
We would give this page zero stars if it would be possible.
Just in New Zealand for a few months, never using this website again.

Almost impossible to contact unless you…

Almost impossible to contact unless you like their Bot (not!). Any honest business, you would be able to phone.
I recently had an unsold item. I wanted to offer a 'fixed price offer' to the 5 supposed 'watchers'. I was not given that option and the 'watchers' disappeared. This was their response.

Sorry for the trouble – we’re upgrading some background systems that power Trade Me. While we do this, some features won't be available on certain listings.

In the meantime, you’ll need to relist instead. Watchers will be notified it’s back up for grabs provided they’re opted in for these emails in their preferences.

What crap! If Trade me are doing supposed upgrades, and some services are not available, shouldn't it's members be advised?.
I don't believe there were actually any watchers. May be a ploy to get you to pay for another 'relist'.

Trade Me, you deserve to go bust!
And you are so Woke!

Do not use this site - there is a reason its rated so low

Do not use this site, they have absolutely disgusting customer service and request so much unnecessary information which is almost guaranteed not to be kept safely.

Even selling on it, they take a percentage big enough you may as well give it to cash converters and ignore all the hassle.

There should be absolutely no confusion on why Facebook marketplace is taking over Trademe's market despite having less protections.

Trade Me, high fees with ZERO service!

Trade Me charge very high fees but when there is a problem you cant call them. I am a seller and recently somebody purchased from me using Ping but changed their mind and wanted a refund. However the refund option on Ping doesn't work and they don't respond to emails and you cant call them. They are even worse than Aliexpress for customer service, which is already pretty bad. My recommendation is to avoid Trade Me and use Ebay or Amazon if possible and I am a seller so you must realise how bad their customer service is.

Trade me discriminated against my daughters mental health

My daughter’s account was disabled a few months ago due to a dispute over some very unfair feedback from a buyer that tried to bypass the selling process on one of her auctions. My daughter ended up cancelling the sale as she wasn’t comfortable with the buyer who ended up leaving horrible feedback. My daughter disputed this feedback as it was not in context with what happened but trade me allowed the feedback of the buyer to remain. It was nasty feedback. It was unfair and the circumstances were not taken into consideration. Understandably upset my daughter lost her nerve at the staff and rightly so in my opinion. They immediately disabled her account. Refused to refund any money she had used to list the item or credit she had on the account. I then tried to open a new account for myself for the first time ever but I kept getting a weird error message. I sent dozens of help messages to them which were all ignored. So I tried opening an account again with my other email using my wife’s mobile number and was promptly met with a permanent ban for having multiple accounts which made no sense because I have never tried to open an account until now and I have since found out that due to the fact that my daughter once shared the same IP address as me - trademe will not let anyone in our house have an account. As a 71 year old pensioner I am disgusted. The email I received informing me of this told me to feel free to reply if I wanted to discuss the matter further, so I did and have been ignored since. The way that we have been treated has been nothing short of appalling. What trade me doesn’t know is that since they disabled my daughters account she is actually no longer with us and I’m trying to sell some of her larger pocessions that are still in my house. I can’t look for a new car, I can’t sell her old car. The way that we have been treated is ridiculous and our circumstances have not been looked into. This has made an already difficult time incredibly triggering and painful. The way trademe treated my daughter that day was nothing short of bullying. Despite her trying to explain her chronic illnesses they exploited her response and used symptoms of her mental health against her. We will be looking at our legal options.

Ridiculous fees

TradeMe used to be great platform but the fees are getting so ridiculous now to the point where the whole thing feels like a big scam. Getting charged a $13 fee for selling an item worth only $165 is unbelievable, I would hate to see what the fees are for higher priced items. No longer using Trademe after this and I hope the number of users continues to drop

Trademe Unethical and Unprincipled Capitalists

Trademe, what an unprincipled, unethical and unreliable company to deal with.
They are very happy for you to buy as much product as you can, facilitate the purchase with the company that gives them kick backs, Afterpay, but when it comes to claiming a warranty on a product, they make it as difficult as possible to contact and correspond with them. I have found from experience that trademe are now ignoring customers seeking compensation for faulty goods, especially if outside their stipulated 1 month program they called "buyer protection." What a Total farse. I have had two unfortunate instances where i have tried to get faulty items replaced. The fist took nearly 3 months, and that was a battle with TM the entire way, and this time, they closed the case, advising me "i failed to contact them," when in reality i was waiting for a response from TM after TM advised me, they have given the seller 6 days to sort it out. The next communication was,"we have closed the case as you have not contacted us." The next step trying to contact them via their maze of BS rhetoric on their web site, designed to frustrate and not assist.

Lol. I guess one star average sums it all up!!!!!. Yeh trademe has just plummeted in my opinion or is it a fact, I think so. Ridiculous fees, a frustrating search tool, too many international traders who sometimes hide the fact they are shipping from China. I wouldn't use it at all if they didn't offer afterpay. Fb marketplace have no fear of trademe
